Check out the rest of our American Idol coverage. | | American Idol: Top 4 Performance Show Recap - May 8, 2007 2007-05-08 20:59:00
Tonight we’re picking back up with our Top 4 performers for American Idol 2007. Last week we saw two contestants heading home: Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson. On tonight’s show each of our Top 4 American Idol 2007 contestants will be performing 2 songs from the Bee Gees catalog with the musical guidance of Barry Gibb. I’m going to break the recap into 2 rounds instead of putting their recaps back to back. I definitely think these are going to be tough songs for the ladies and Blake, if he’s smart, will be able to take advantage of that and get ahead like he’ll need to do to win this whole season.
Round 1:
Melinda Doolittle: “Love You Inside and Out”
Barry Gibb wasn’t too sure on her selection at first, but she proved to him it was a good choice during rehearsals.
Randy: “Another solid performance… wasn’t jumping up and down, but it was good.”
Paula: “Your vocals are always spot on… Consist | | American Idol: Top 4 Performance Show Preview - May 8, 2007 2007-05-08 10:00:45
American Idol is starting to approach the finish lines and the competition is getting tougher. We’re down to our final four competitors and at this point I think it’s almost anyone’s game (at least for three of them). Last week we saw Phil Nosferatu Stacey and Chris Richardson get sent home. I’m still somewhat surprised by Nosferatu Phil as I thought he’d last at least one more week. Chris, however, was ready and set to go. Both of these guys did very well, of course, but I didn’t see either of them taking home the big prize this season.
I’m not expecting a wildly successful show this week as the theme is going to be the Bee Gees music with musical coach Barry Gibb from the band. I don’t feel like this is a genre of music that the ladies will really nail, but I hope I’m wrong. Blake Lewis will probably soak it up well though and remix the heck out of it and people will love it, for some reason. I’m anticipating | | American Idol: Blake Lewis? Chances of Winning Season 6 2007-05-07 10:00:01
Although I am no fan of Blake Lewis on American Idol Season 6 that does not prevent me from recognizing how wildly popular he is amongst the audience. Following what I considered a surprise dismissal of Phil Stacey over LaKisha Jones the landscape has really changed, and as a result Blake Lewis finds himself in a very interesting position.
Looking at the Top 4 for American Idol this season reminds me of the kids’ game, ‘One of these things is not like the others,’ and no, I don’t just mean that he’s the only white kid left. Blake Lewis now remains as the last rocker standing. Melinda Doolittle did a great job of proving she could handle a rock song very well last week, but that still doesn’t make her a rocker, nor is that where she wants to be. I think it’s also safe to say that Jordin Sparks and LaKisha Jones proved that rock was not their best thing, and that’s okay, it doesn’t have to be. All three of those ladies s | | American Idol: Top 6, Again, Results Show Recap - May 2, 2007 2007-05-02 21:15:17
Tonight on American Idol it’s time to find out which two performers leaves our Top 6 for Season 6 and who will form our new Top 4 for 2007. Last night we saw some interesting performances. Nosferatu Phil Stacey rocked the house with “Blaze of Glory” in what had to be his best performance yet this season. I’m thinking his performance should be enough to keep him alive another week, same with Melinda Doolittle who also had a stand out performance and surprised me as a rocker. Jordin Sparks had a surprising stinker on her hands, though she admitted she knew it had problems right away. I don’t even know where to start with Blake Lewis and his remix of “You Give Love a Bad Name”. Most people loved it. I’d chew off my hand before sitting through that again. I doubt if Blake is going anywhere though tonight. Instead, I’ve set my predictions on LaKisha Jones and Chris Richardson. Let’s see how it turns out.

Last night we were treated to the Top 6 American Idol performers for a second week in a row after no one was sent home last week during the charity event, Idol Gives Back. It’s really starting to feel like a strong, enjoyable talent contest with several of the performers starting to rise to the top while a few others are continuing to drop. Tonight we’re going to go from Top 6 to Top 4 as two contestants will be sent home.
Bon Jovi is this week’s performing guest so they’ll be doing a song tonight. Yesterday we saw Jon Bon Jovi spend a lot of quality time with the performers and really help thing along. Jon embraced his role and put a lot of effort into it giving them tips and even playing along with each of the singers to help them get the songs just right. I would say he joins the ranks of Jennifer Lopez and Diana Ross for taking the role of musical coach seriously, unlike Gwen Stefani when she practically just dialed that one in.

Once again we’re at the Top 6 performers for American Idol Season 6. In case you missed it, no one went home last week from the Idol Gives Back charity performance. So to make up for that two people will get sent home this week. Tonight it looks like a lot of the previous contestants are back in the audience, including Gina Glocksen and Antonella Barba.
Jon Bon Jovi and the band’s keyboardist, David Ryan, are going to be the musical coaches so all the musical selections are going to be from their band’s history. This should provide for a lot of fun tonight as Bon Jovi songs are usually pretty fun songs and easy to enjoy with some energy. I read an interesting interview blurb with Jon Bon Jovi where he admitted to having never watched American Idol before Gwen Stefani’s week.
Phil Stacey: “Blaze of Glory”
Jon thought Phil had a big voice for a big song like that. Phil was pretty psyched to get to work with Bon Jovi as he grew up a fan. | | American Idol: Phone & Text Numbers to Vote - May 1, 2007 2007-05-01 20:15:29 Here are the Phone and Text numbers to vote for your American Idol - May 1, 2007. Alright, here we go, again. We’re still down to the Top 6 contestants for American Idol Season 6 2007. Last week on Idol absolutely no one went home. There was however, a lot of cool things going on that night. Idol Gives Back raised over $60M so far with their effort and there was also the rather good duet between Elvis Presley and Celine Dion.
With so much happening last time this week will have some large shoes to fill. There are a couple of big things happening over the next two nights that you’ll definitely want to catch, or at least come back here for all your American Idol coverage should you miss it. First, Jon Bon Jovi will be this week’s musical coach. He’ll be walking the contestants through song selection and coaching them on delivery as they perform songs from, of course, the Bon Jovi catalog. And since no one went home last week American Idol will be sure to make up for lost time by sending home two contestants this week.

Wednesday night on American Idol was billed as having the biggest duet in Idol history as part of their Idol Gives Back charity event show. This duet event featured Celine Dion and the visiting spirit of Elvis Presley, the original American idol, singing his 1968 hit, “If I Can Dream”.
Although Elvis Presley died back in 1977 at age 42, through the magic of modern technology (well, not totally modern, but I’ll get to that) he was able to join in on this charity event. The first time I was watching the performance I was too fixated on the “how” question and had to go back for a replay to really enjoy it. That still left me with the “how did they do it” question.
An initial search for images the morning after the show returned to me two interesting photos. The first showed Celine Dion on stage performing next to a man dressed in white and looking like Elvis. The second picture was of a similar angle but instead showed Celine standing | | American Idol: Idol Gives Back Results Show Recap 2007-04-25 21:25:21

After a bumpy start (Ryan missed his lines and even had “Dave the camera guy” back up so he could try again. Good for him, he should make sure to do it right.) Ryan introduces tonight to have the most shocking results in Idol history. Last night there were over 70 million votes so News Corporation will be donating the full $5,000,000! The first group up is Earth, Wind, & Fire. I wonder how many kids are sitting at home watching this group and saying, “who?” Earth, Wind, & Fire was a 70’s with many albums that went Platinum, double Platinum, and even triple Platinum. They’re obviously still performing, but their peak was a few decades ago.

Simon put it very well last night on American Idol when he said that he feels like the competition has finally started. I would have to completely agree. I’m not sure what it was (Sanjaya) that was taking away from it and making it more of a high school talent show (Sanjaya) than your typical American Idol season. I guess we’ll never know (Sanjaya). Last night’s performances focused on themes of compassion, support, and changing things for the better. While everyone did a great job there were, of course, the stand outs as well a few under-performers.
Before I get to my predictions, a few notes regarding tonight’s show. Tonight will be a 2 hour special episode featuring guests (likely to be more than just these): Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Bono, Celine Dion, Earth, Wind & Fire, Il Divo, Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant, Josh Groban, Jack Black, Helen Mirren, Rascal Flatts, Quincy Jones, and Annie Lennox. We’re down to the Top 6 performers for American Idol Season 6. Tonight the theme is going to be of compassion and charity due to this week being the big Idol Gives Back charity event, which is pretty cool. Every time you call in and vote tonight companies will donate additional money to this cause, so keep voting tonight. I expect we’re going to see some incredibly high voting turn out and lots of busy, busy lines. Luckily there will be 2 numbers for each contestant though, so if one doesn’t work, give the other a try, of course, and double lucky, they are running the lines twice as long tonight. Since tomorrow night’s results show will be a mighty series of guest performers and celebrities there will be lots to see in its full 2 hours (8-10pm EST). Last week we saw Sanjaya Malakar go home, deserving, but still surprising. Let’s see if Phil Stacey can keep himself out of the bottom three again this week, but with LaKisha Jones and Blake Lewis | | American Idol: Phone & Text Numbers to Vote - April 24, 2007 2007-04-24 20:02:30 Here are the Phone and Text numbers to vote for your American Idol - April 24, 2007. Tonight we are down to our Top 6 contestants for American Idol Season 6 2007. Last week I was pleasantly surprised to see Sanjaya Malakar going home, while LaKisha Jones and Blake Lewis survived a night in the bottom three. It looks like our American Idol Charity efforts finally paid off, so thanks to all the supporters. Speaking of charities, tonight is part one of the two night special for Idol Gives Back, the charity special by American Idol to raise money and support for needy children in the U.S. and Africa.
I wasn’t sure if there would be a musical coach since this week’s theme is the charity, but guess what, Bono is supposed to be meeting with the Top 6 contestants. I’m still not sure if that’ll be to just discuss the cause or to help theme pick a song for tonight. Either way the theme will be compassion for tonight’s songs.
This will definitely be a big week for performances on the shows though with there being a huge list of performers |
