The google adsense blog just announced that images next to google adsense ads are not acceptable any longer!They've received many emails from webmasters asking them if it's okay since it appears to increase CTR numbers by a long shot and decided to release a post about it. I had found this out earlier this month and taken down the ads on some of my sites because the google adsense team had contacted me about that.Rumors were circulating the web that images with a visible border to the google adsense ads are acceptable but according to google these aren't either. With the new Google Adsense policies not allowing similar looking ads on their sites (whether contextual or not), bloggers now are being made to remove their YPN, Bidvertisers and similar contextual ads from their site (see report). Those who have been rotating Adsense and Yahoo Publisher YPN Ads on 50/50 will either have to remove either one or format the ads so that they will look different, so as not to confuse the two ads altogether. An exception would be text-link-ads whereby it is reported to be a very good income source for bloggers that is used alongside Adsense. We doubt anyone would ditch Adsense as they are the current dominant program in contextual advertising with not much competition at all.
