Kicked Jesus to the curb
2008-01-16 02:12:43
By John BothaHi there, my name is John and my story is a long and arduous one so I'll just hit on some highlights rather than risk boring you to death.I grew up Roman Catholic thanks to my Mum and attended Catholic School run by Marist Brothers (poor me). From there I turned into a fundamentalist Christian when some friends of mine coerced me into attending Pentecostal services. As an 18 year old I was vulnerable at the time (that's why the Christians target the young as most convert before this age) and soon found myself speaking in tongues and singing Jesus' praises! Oh Hallelujah. From then, yada yada, found out about Ray Comfort's Way of the master and was turned into a hell fire and brimstone preacher! I bugged people on the street, in movies, hospitals, wherever I could find victims, I mean sinners. I became a worship leader/evangelist for a church over this way. I recorded worship song that I wrote (some pretty damn good apart from the stupid lyrics).A year or so ago I really ...

Atheist Life vs Religious Life
2008-01-15 19:04:28
By Fighting AtheistSome argue that religious life is the best way to live. They claim life without a god is sad and depressing. Statements like "I could not imagine my life without God", and "My life would be meaningless without God", are common defenses for a religious life. The following is a list of advantages atheists enjoy over a religious life. I invite the religious viewers to submit a response video with the advantages of a religious life.1. Atheists can make moral decisions based on the specific context. Having absolutes like "Though Shall not Lie" stops people from thinking for themselves and making the right decision based on the situation at hand. In what situation would be okay to lie? Most religious people would say, never. Atheists would disagree. For example: If you were living in Germany hiding Jews in your attic during the holocaust, and Hitler's Nazis knocked on your door and asked if you were hiding Jews, would it be okay to lie to save the lives of the Jews in you ...
I can't do it anymore
2008-01-14 16:02:58
Sent in by Hannah I am currently trying to begin the process of leaving a Christian cult and I wanted to share my situation with people that might be able to understand and hopefully offer some advice even. I was born into the cult and brainwashed for my entire childhood by my parents (whom I still love by the way) who are very involved members. If you have seen the film "Jesus Camp" that is a very close depiction of what my life was like. We had extremely strict rules in my house....for example, my sister and I were not allowed to talk to boys (we had to be silent if they talked to us), we could not lock our doors, if we asked questions to our parents they would not usually answer, we could not attend sex ed or anything related to evolution or DARE in school (if we heard someone else talking about things like that we had "sinned")....that's the idea. I was completely miserable but my siblings and I, having not been exposed to rational things, did not know any better or have any c ...
I'm God, BEOCH!!!
2008-01-13 10:54:23
Attention Christians: Which God do you believe in? The one they talk about in church or the God described in the Bible? Many of you would be surprised to learn that they are not the same. The God most Christians envision is a loving, caring, father-figure type of guy who is up in heaven watching over them and looking out for them. This is a far cry from the God of the Bible who rules by fear, kills anyone who rejects him, orders his followers to kill others, and demands worship.Fear of God is mentioned often in the Bible. Here are some excerpts (found in your King James Bible and The Skeptic's Annotated Bible).Leviticus 25:17 Thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God. Deuteronomy 4:10 That they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children Deuteronomy 6:2That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments. Pastor charged with looting $300,000 from church
2008-01-12 09:15:50
A Cleveland clergyman has been accused of stealing about $300,000 from the church, taking money from a fund for the poor and stealing parishioners' identities prior to his imprisonment last year on unrelated charges. The Rev. Donald Ray Robinson, former pastor of Lane Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, was named yesterday in a 27-count indictment on charges of theft, securing records by deception, identity fraud and money laundering. His arraignment is set for Jan. 22.An investigation began after parishioners found that Robinson, 56, used church property as collateral to obtain loans and laundered money through bank accounts, said Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor James Gutierrez. He also drained the church's Benevolent Fund earmarked for the poor, stole the identities of church members to obtain illegal credit cards and pocketed a $5,000 grant from the Cleveland Foundation for a computer training program, Gutierrez said.Robinson became pastor of Lane Metropolitan in ...
Christianity does not care for people -- it wants only to grow itself
2008-01-12 08:45:33
Sent in by ShaidaI grew up in a rural area, and everyone went to church. How you felt about god was never discussed, you just went. My family is large, and we care about one another deeply, and the preacher always said that love was a sign of god, so I thought god was wonderful, loving, kind, welcoming, just like family. It was a nice dream. But adulthood brings challenges, and I saw firsthand, many times, that Christian lives may be no better than "heathen" lives, and that Christians may hurt others WITH and BECAUSE OF Christianity, yet still claim that Christianity is all about love.I began to think that Christianity was all about itself. It was about replication, not really people, but it hides behind it's so-called brotherly love to propagate itself. My fears were confirmed when my Grandmother died. She was the most gentle woman, and had 55 descendants - some religious, some not, yet everyone loved her deeply. She was religious, but she never spoke about god to anyone, never p ...
SNAP fingers Baptist leader
2008-01-11 11:34:38
FORT WORTH - The organization that took on the Catholic Church over sex abuse has accused a prominent North Texas Baptist leader of letting a predatory preacher move from church to church. The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) said they want Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to suspend its president, Dr. Paige Patterson. Pastor Darrell Gilyard is the center of the controversy. In early January, he resigned from a large Baptist church in Jacksonville, Florida after he allegedly sent lewd text messages to a teenaged girl. However, that isn't Gilyard's first time to meet with such accusations, which lead back to North Texas and Oklahoma. Back in the '80s and '90s, Pastor Gilyard was forced to leave four churches after women complained of sexual abuse. Some of those women, and even some church leaders, said Gilyard was able to move from pulpit to pulpit because the claims against him were dismissed by Dr. Patterson. "I never recommended Darrell anywhere," Dr. ...

From Ex-Pastor DanWow! you guys & gals are fantastic! It was so encouraging to my sweet wife Joyce & I to hear from so many of you after my posting two days ago. Thanks for all of the wonderful and helpful comments & questions.Tonight I will try and answer just one point.
