Corian vs. Granite- The Big Debate for your New Kitchen Remodel
2008-02-09 14:06:29
We often struggle with the decision of what to remodel or fix up before we sell a house. If you are interested in or planning to put your home on the market for sale, you may want to give serious consideration to making some improvements to your home. First, decide if you have the proper knowledge or do the work yourself. The bottom line is that you can make some fairly easy and not too costly improvements to your home that can result in a significant increase in value of your residence itself. One part of your home that you may want to consider remodeling on is your kitchen. When all is said and done, people tend to spend a great deal of time in their kitchens. Thus, for a prospective home buyer, the kitchen and the way it looks and feels is a very important consideration when buying a home. If you decide to replace anything in the kitchen before putting your home on the market, start with the counter tops. Here is a comparison of two popular counter top choices and often a big debate ...

Looking for a lakehouse close to Indianapolis?
2008-02-07 09:10:47
In 1999, my family and I decided to buy a lakehouse. We wanted to be at a location that was less than a 2 hour drive (from our home in Carmel), had clean water, and was affordably priced. After checking out all the lakes and reservoirs within that radius, we bought at Heritage Lake in Putnam County Indiana. Heritage Lake is a private lake, located 7 miles west of Danville (just past the Hendricks County line). From Carmel, is it roughly a one hour drive. It isn't as crowded as many public lakes, because only property owners can put a boat on the water. There is a full-time security guard that patrols the lake to make sure compliance is followed. The lake also offers water that doesn't have rising ecoli or other bacteria. Skiing and wave runners are allowed from sunup to sundown. Fishing is also great! There are a lot of bass and catfish in the lake. If you have considered buying a lakehouse near Indy, give m ...

Don’t let your home’s gas and electricity needs put you in the poorhouse. There are simple ways to save energy, money and the environment. We’re now in the middle of winter and many homeowners are feeling the sting of high energy bills. What can you do to ease the strain on your wallet? A recent Parade article describes six ways your family can save energy this winter. Buy new light bulbs. Replacing traditional incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs saves money and brightens your rooms. “This really is a no-brainer,” says Danny Lipford, host of the show “Today’s Homeowner.” “Fluorescent bulbs use 75 percent less electricity than incandescents and can last up to 10 times longer.” These bulbs used to only be available in spiral shapes, but now come in more aesthetically pleasing versions. Program your way to warmth. If your family is like most families, your energy needs will vary throughout the ...

Tips for selling in the Spring market
2008-02-07 08:44:03
If you are planning on selling in the Spring, there are certain things you can do to make your house more marketable. If you want to get the highest price possible in central Indiana, here are a few tips. DECLUTTER - One of the main reasons buyers move is to get more space. To make your house appear as large as possible, remove clutter. Not sure what to remove? Remember that your room needs to have countertops with only 1 or 2 items, kitchen appliances packed away (so they don't line the countertop) and furniture thinned out. If you need help, feel free to give us a call! We have been staging homes for over 10 years. Often it's just small alterations that can make a big difference. CURB APPEAL - When you drive up to your house, what do you see? A front door that need painting? Flower beds overgrown with weeds? Remember the old addage: you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Make a grea ...

Luxury Townhomes in Downtown Indianapolis
2008-01-29 15:59:14
Indianapolis is revamping it's downtown appeal. It is now easier to find luxury living in the city with a posh, urban setting than once before thanks to new townhome construction downtown. The De Soto offers sophisticated urban living in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. You can enjoy unique rooftop gardens, Italianate architecture and lush landscaping. These townhomes project a unique curb appeal and intersting architecture that pulls many types of buyers in. The De Soto is located in the historic Lockerbie neighborhood, which is worth driving through to see the special charm and beauty the city has to offer. Although there seems to be numerous new construction options to choose from, in my opinion, Kosene and Kosene's De Soto and Packard offers upscale amenities above other condos. There are over 18 different floor plans to choose from and ranging between 1,900-2,800 square feet. They offer quality construction, open concept interiors with high end finishes, ...
