Shawn Labeet’s identity went through many incarnations via mistakes by the police and the press and intentional misleading from Labeet’s girlfriend. However, the beard that Labeet shaved off after the shooting still strikes me as strange, especially during summer in Miami. Four Miami police shot with AK-47 by suspect on run 2007-09-13 12:17:49 This is breaking news and I’m following it as closely as possible. Four Miami police officers have been shot by an as yet unidentified assailant. What got my attention was the description of the shooter: “A black man in his 30’s with a full beard and carrying an AK-47 assault rifle.” “A full beard…” Yep, that’s a red flag. At least one member of Homeland Security is on the scene, most likely just as the logical precautionary move. The officers shot included one female who is currently in surgery. Man on FBI terrorism watch list reported for taking photos of bridge is released 2007-09-12 18:57:33 I have done quite a bit of interstate travel in my time. I have never, ever had any reason to stop to take photographs of an interstate bridge. Could be because there’s rarely anything aesthetically pleasing about interstate bridges; dirty ugly cement, flat roadway, no adornments and a few pillar supports. That didn’t keep this “Middle Eastern” man from getting out of his car to take some photographs. But it also didn’t keep him in police custody, despite the fact that he is on an FBI terrorism watch list.
