9 Dead, 5 wounded in Omaha mall shooting
2007-12-05 16:16:03
All that is known at this point is that the shooter was a black male, possibly wearing a black ski mask, approximately 6 feet tall and that he is also among the dead. There may have been multiple shooters. At least 8 people are dead victims. The total number of dead is 9 including the dead gunmen.
Obviously I will be following this story closely. Could this be another case of Spontaneous Jihad? I know you’re wondering.
UPDATE: I don’t know whether to be more disgusted or relieved by the updates to this story, but most likely this was in no way, shape or form an Islamic terrorist event (this time), despite the use of an AK-47 in the shooting. I don’t know how witnesses describe a thirty-something African-American male that turns out to be a lanky, 19 year old white kid that used to work at McDonald’s, but I suppose when guns shots are going off in a shopping mall and someone is wearing a ski mask, just about any description is possible.

Iranian Threat Not A ‘Cry Wolf’
2007-12-04 09:46:09
I’m sitting here listening to the President answer questions from the Press this morning. Like jackals the Press Corps is circling and looking to cast doubt and blame because of recent intelligence information that claims to put Iran’s intent and capacity to build nuclear weapons into doubt.
This is no ‘cry wolf’ situation. Iran is a threat, has been a threat and will continue to be a threat. I do not believe for one second that Iran is not building nuclear weapon capacity. I do not care what “information” is now being put forth. It simply makes no sense to me whatsoever that the Islamic Iranian regime would not be looking to arm itself with nuclear weapons.
I do not have access to intelligence reports. I wish I did, but what I’m implying right now is that I don’t believe what I’m hearing this morning. I think this is smoke and mirrors.
Iran is still enriching uranium. Iran is still testing ballistic missiles. Ahmadinejad ...

Pin-Ups For a Good Cause
2007-12-03 13:13:25
Anvil reader and blogger Songdongnigh has informed me of a worthy project to support which intends to send some cheer to wounded veterans in VA hospitals. The classic pinup has been a staple of wartime morale-boosting since the world wars. Gina Elise has put together a calender in that spirit. You can learn more about the calender here and here and directly at Pin Ups for Vets.

Boycott Islam: Sharia equity index debuts on Tokyo Stock Exchange
2007-12-03 08:39:57
It’s almost as if I’m living in a nightmare and someone needs to shake me awake. Greed will destroy us all yet if we let it; anything to garner more revenue, even if it means shaking hands with the ghost of Muhammad in order to please his followers and their ideological insanity. Nobody should still believe that Islam is “just a religion” after reading this news; not even the most diehard moonbats among you.
From CNN Money:
TOKYO, Dec. 3, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) – The Tokyo Stock Exchange on Monday launched a new sharia index of shares in companies that comply with Islamic law to meet growing demand from investors, particularly in the oil-rich Middle East.
The index of 79 stocks traded in Japan, jointly developed by the TSE and the US rating agency Standard & Poor’s (NYSE:MHP) , dipped 0.39 points or 0.04 percent to 1,006.51 on its first day, outperforming the benchmark Nikkei-225 which lost 0.33 percent.

Open Thread: It’s a busy Sunday morning for Islamic apologists
2007-12-02 09:32:49
By now you’ve read or heard or seen the news about the victimized British school teacher in Sudan who made the innocent “mistake” of allowing her classroom to name their mascot teddy bear Muhammad. Well, as predictable as the Sun is on a Sunday morning, here comes the wave of articles bound and determined to convince us that the “real Islam” is nothing like the Islam in Sudan. Or Saudi Arabia. Or Iran. Or Syria.
Um…
Just take a gander at some of this morning’s stories that I pulled off of my (very handy) Jihad News Feeds:
Do recent events represent Islam? - Edmonton Journal
A strain of Islam the West refuses to confront - Edmonton Sun
A failure to confront radical Islam - Times Online
The truth is, as we’re beginning to realise, we’re locked into a battle for hearts and minds at the core of which lies a battle for the essence of Islam…
The “essence” of Islam? We don’t have enough terror in the world to let u ...

Islam and the West: The Clash has Begun
2007-12-01 07:48:09
Teddy bear woes? Thoughts from Economist.com with a couple of my own interjected for better measure:
FOR anyone who is labouring to improve Christian-Muslim relations, or stop civilisations clashing, it is a painful setback: a well-intentioned Western woman who has volunteered her services as a teacher in a land stricken by conflict and poverty, only to find herself denounced by a local colleague and incarcerated in horrible conditions.
Gillian Gibbons, a 54-year-old teacher from Liverpool, was sentenced on Thursday November 29th to 15 days in prison for “insulting religion”, after allowing her pupils at a school in Khartoum, Sudan’s capital, to name a teddy bear Muhammad. She had invited a seven-year-old girl to bring in her teddy and then encouraged the class to vote on a name for the toy.
When the story broke in the British press this week, it was widely reported that she might face up to 40 lashes, or six months in jail, if she were found guilty on all three of the charg ...

Islamic Glacier Alert: Islam third-largest religion in Ireland
2007-11-29 11:36:37
Even my ancestral home of tiny Ireland is not safe from the Creep of Sharia. From ireland.com:
Muslims are now the third-largest religious group in the State behind Catholic and members of the Church of Ireland, according to Census figures released by the Central Statistics Office today.
There number of people who said their religion was Islam was 32,500 in April 2006, when the Census was conducted across the State. The number represents a 70 per cent increase since 2002.
The figures also show that after Catholicism, the biggest recorded group is those who state they have no religion. Some 186,318 people said they had no religion, an increase of 35 per cent on the 2002 Census.
There are now 3,681,446 people who state their religion as Catholic, a 6.3 per cent increase on 2002. A total of 125,585 said they were Church of Ireland, 32,539 Muslim, 29,206 were members of other Christian religions, 23,546 were Presbyterian, 20,798 were Orthodox, 12,160 Methodist, and 57,928 members of &ldqu ...

Boycott Islam: US stocks rebound on UAE’s Citigroup investment
2007-11-28 08:45:39
How stupid are we? I’m being serious. How stupid are we? Stock brokers and investors are actually excited by the following news. I am anything but excited. I see this as just another move by the Arab-Muslim world to replace our need for oil with another form of economic dominance. We greedily play right into the hands of the sheiks.
We are stupid.
From NEWS.com.au Business:
US stock markets rebounded strongly overnight after banking giant Citigroup said it would gain a $US7.5 billion ($8.6 billion) injection from a United Arab Emirates investment fund.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended up a hefty 215.57 points or 1.69 per cent at a preliminary close of 12,959.01. The key index had slumped by 237 points a day earlier.
The technology-laden Nasdaq composite won back a notable 39.81 points or 1.57 per cent to 2580.80 and the Standard & Poor’s 500 broad-market index jumped 21.07 points or 1.50 per cent to a preliminary finish of 1428.29.

An Exercise in Futility and Dhimmitude
2007-11-27 08:41:47
Today yet another so-called Mideast Peace Summit begins. It’s been a few years since a U.S. President has attempted to see something like this through, but it hasn’t been long enough that I have forgotten the previous results and so I will go out on a limb here today *coughs* and predict the outcome.
Nothing good.
Muslim Arabs are coming to the table and what will they seek? I’ll tell you simply enough. The sheiks will seek to grab back land that they lost to the Israelis in wartime after Egypt and Syria were shamed into full retreat from what they had hoped would be genocidal victory against the Jews. Should this land be given back? Absolutely not. Might it be? In the atmosphere of today’s limp-wristed, do-right, Dhimmi-fide political appeasers — it just might happen.
Muslim Arabs will also come away with monetary concessions and back-room oil deals, stock exchanges and promises of more free reign for Islamic schooling in Western nations.

‘Muhammad’ teddy teacher arrested for ‘insulting’ Islam’s prophet
2007-11-26 11:16:38
It’s Monday. It’s cold out. The Muslims are angry. An innocent infidel is in danger. Just another day in the world neighborhood.
From the BBC:
Colleagues of Gillian Gibbons, 54, from Liverpool, said she made an “innocent mistake” by letting the six and seven-year-olds choose the name.
Ms Gibbons was arrested after several parents made complaints.
A spokesman from the British Embassy in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, said it was unclear whether she had been charged.
Embassy officials are expected to visit Ms Gibbons in custody later.
“We are in contact with the authorities here and they have visited the teacher and she is in a good condition,” an embassy spokesman said.
The spokesman said the naming of the teddy happened months ago and was chosen by the children because it is a common name in the country.
“This happened in September and the parents did not have a problem with it,” he said.

Open Thread: I’m Back
2007-11-25 07:46:06
Well, I’m back and refreshed from the continuing holiday festivities. Since Thanksgiving, I have eaten two entire pies by myself, more than enough turkey to make me sleep like a hibernating polar bear and mounds of stuffing and mashed potatoes! I wonder what’s for Christmas dinner this year…
Hmm. Do polar bears actually hibernate?
The answers to this and other fascinating questions coming up in the following open thread. This has now become a tradition of its own here at the Anvil. Play nice!

Happy Thanksgiving: A Proposed Constitutional Amendment
2007-11-21 07:04:25
The following article was submitted to me from a reader in Arizona after he saw some of my statements over in the Jihad Watch comments sections concerning my dedication to the notion of amending the U.S. Constitution and, more specifically, the First Amendment. This is a subject I first discussed in any real detail in an article titled: The Threat Worse than Islamic Terrorism.
Before anyone reacts from the gut on this, read this proposal carefully. This in no way strips anyone of religious freedoms that actually follows a peaceful religion, but Islam itself does not fit into this category and must be opposed. This idea, along with my other proposal of boycott, can do much to stop the Islamic Glacier and Sharia Creep.
The following words were first posted over at Pedestrian Infidel, but since the author has found it very difficult to have these ideas reposted on other blogs, I’ll do my part today. I was impressed by the structure of this article, it being so close to my own ...

A Simple Question
2007-11-19 08:49:12
In light of some very heated arguments here at the Anvil, I got to thinking about the fundamentals again. I believe this is as good a time as any to put together a new poll to put into rotation. Think about this one carefully and then select your response, because very often a simple question brings us closer to the most difficult of answers.
Do you feel as if Islam and its followers have somehow intruded upon your life and your peace of mind?
No.
Yes.

Boycott Islam: UAE company makes move on AMD
2007-11-17 10:43:03
Intel’s strongest computer chip rival, AMD, has now had over 8% of its stock purchased by a company out of the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. I take especial displeasure and interest in this incident because I personally own AMD stock. While I am not yet quite ready to put AMD onto the Boycott Islam list, I am definitely close to doing so. I will be making my anger known to AMD this coming week in a couple of personal emails and if I sense that even more of AMD will be going to Muslim interests, I will be selling my stock and submitting AMD to the list.
The UAE is for all intents and purposes little more than a smaller, richer Saudi Arabia, being predominantly Sunni Muslim. The fingers of the sheiks are reaching out more and more into our lives. They sense the diminishing of oil power and so they seek to replace that with other means. I mean to put a stop to them. You can help.
