Something Before Bed XXVI
2007-07-18 23:59:00
The latest video from The Onion is circulating the web at quite a clipped pace. After watching it I had jump on the bandwagon and add it into tonight's Something Before Bed.Admit it, it is funny. Still, the humor has somewhat of a somber tone. What if somehow a major fatal error did strike the internet? How many suicides could we expect? Then again we all know that Google is already storing every bit of the internet so they could save us from imminent boredom. Imagine if we actually had to read a book!Page Six of The New York Post implied that Lindsay Lohan was looking for Ecstasy. I've moved past that to perhaps the most humorous bit in the column:MAYBE greed is good, as Gordon Gekko said in "Wall Street," but no one likes to be called "greedy." So foreheads flexed last Thursday in Sun Valley, Idaho, when Sony honcho Sir Howard Stringer used that word to describe Apple chairman Steve Jobs. Stringer was part of a panel at the Allen & Co. media mogul powwow with Barry Diller (IAC), Je ...

The recent earthquakes in Japan have caused a major problem in relation to the nuclear plant that dumped nuclear water into the ocean. The plant has been closed down as more and more problems surface concerning possible nuclear waste leaks. Reports now have it that the leak is 50% worse than initially reported. The plant has been compromised at 50 different points which specialists are now trying to determine if these points are worthy of closing down the plant permanently. After Britain exported four Russian diplomats from its lands a lot was left up in the air. Russia started threatening to revenge the action but now they are facing a much bigger opponent. The EU has now stepped up and is supporting Britain in its actions. "The EU expresses its disappointment at Russia's failure to cooperate constructively with the UK authorities," it said in a statement. Russia has yet to issue a statement concerning this enlarging of enemies. Sounds like the bully on the playground has made one too ...

Breaking News: Steam Pipe Explosion in Manhattan
2007-07-18 20:40:00
A five alarm situation has been called in Manhattan after a major steam pipe exploded at 38th and Lexington Ave. in midtown New York City about an hour ago. Geysers continue to erupt in massive amounts, shooting up at least ten stories. Initial reports had it that buildings began to vibrate before the explosion, which has injured 11 people. Two of the injured are listed as being in critical condition considering the extreme heat and ability to burn skin that comes with such a steam pipe. Witnesses say that the initial eruption sent geysers as high, if not higher than the apartment buildings that line the surrounding blocks (20+ stories). The area is currently being quarantined as fears over possible asbestos issues related to the explosion are dealt with. All available offices and departments are on the scene trying to stop the extreme flow of super-heated steam emerging from the manhole. An explanation for the explosion has yet to be given but officials are quick to state that this is ...
Facebook: Privacy for Sale
2007-07-18 15:40:00
Facebook has potential to be the penultimate social networking site on the planet. It could also be the most evil website ever created. At this point in time, the site is hovering somewhere in between, in a virtual purgatory that can only be broken out of by the company’s decision to either give in to greed in the name of progress or choose to remove some of its additions and save its metaphorical soul. What follows is a basic crash course on Facebook, its history, issues and future. In February of 2004 an entrepreneurial young man named Mark Zuckerburg started The Facebook, a website designed to eliminate the need for “facebooks” which used to be a staple for college campuses across the world. Zuckerburg was a student at Harvard University at the time, and with the help of a couple of friends, he managed to enroll over half of Harvard’s students in the site in less than a month. Following the mass enrollment at Harvard, Zuckerburg and friends soon joined forces with Dust ...

Matthew McConaughey's arrest is pretty well-known far and wide. Back when McConaughey lived in Austin he was known for doing some pretty crazy shit. In 1999 police responded to a noise disturbance call around 2:30 AM. When they arrived at McConaughey's house they found him stark naked, dancing around and playing the bongo drums. Sitting in the apartment they found marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia. Matt resisted arrest and was booked on possession and disturbance.McConaughey somehow managed to talk his way out of the drug charges and pled guilty to disturbing the peace and walked away after paying a $50 fine. I woke up this early this morning and looked over the major headlines from Washington and New York and then did what any former and current Manhattanite does, I read Page Six from The New York Post. Normally I don't care about the socialites that are implied with certain key-words but today I realized that the subtle innuendo wasn't about some rich bitch...it was about Lindsay Lohan. I thought perhaps I had stumbled upon something and set it aside to comment on in today's Guilty Pleasures. By the time I began assimilating today's gossip I noticed I had been beaten to the punch on every major celebrity blog on the internet. Since when does everyone else in the world read Page Six? In case you missed it, this is what Richard Johnson had to imply:WHICH hard-partying starlet has figured out a way to get high while wearing an alcohol-monitoring anklet? She was asking where she could score some Ecstasy at a Vegas club the other night . . . WHICH too-good-to-be-real Hollywood leading man ...

I watch FOX News only when I want a good laugh. They have a tendency to lie, manipulate and generally act like assholes. So, global warming is a man-made lie? Hmmm, now I can stop worrying. If we really want to solve global warming we should just deny access to petroleum products for a year to anyone who watches and/or believes in anything that FOX News or George W. Bush has to say. Imagine how many idiots wouldn't be able to drive, therefore lowering ozone depletion and stopping the progress of melting icecaps. That would probably lead to at least a 50% cut in emissions, better than any government mandate could due. That, or we just tell them to follow this:Of course you can probably guess which I would prefer.Tomorrow I will be reviewing Maroon 5's It Won't Be Soon Before Long. Above is the first single's music video. I won't say the video is all that interesting, but the song is. Check back tomorrow for the full review.Motiveless Crime is on the rise. ...
Motiveless Crime Announcements
2007-07-17 23:27:00
It has been some time since I made a post that addressed the readers of Motiveless Crime. The site shut down for about a day due to some personal issues but as you can see it is back up and in full swing. Hopefully no subscribers or readers were lost due to this mistake on my part.Today I promised that I would post an article on discussing the social networking site, Facebook. After copious amounts of research and hours of writing, I realized that I had missed the window to post the article upon its completion. Therefore it awaits publishing in draft form and I promise it will be on the site and ready to be read tomorrow before noon.A few changes have happened on the site since I last addressed the readers. The biggest addition, which may or may not prove useful, has been the addition of Digg buttons to every post. If you don't know already, Digg is a site that uses a form of voting ("digging") that determines the popularity of any article on any site. The usefulness of the button is ...

Ever wonder what Marily Manson looks like without all of the scary makeup? Now you know. Manson was arrested and charged with criminal sexual misconduct after he did the grind on a security guard's head in 2001. The judge handling the case lowered the sentence to misdemeanor disorderly conduct to which Manson pleaded no contest and agreed to pay $4,000 fine. Manson later closed a correlating lawsuit behind closed doors. He looks so pathetic, like a lost puppy. No wonder he hides behind all of that makeup and makes scary noises when behind the mic. Thanks to The Smoking Gun for the image. ...

Bitches and their dogs are everywhere today. Ever notice how people look like their dogs? I sympathize with that mutt. Paris spent yesterday binge shopping for crap that she will never use. She bought some boogie boards (in pink) then dropped a decent amount in a dog boutique (what is the world coming to?) for her menagerie. How many dogs does she have in that compound? And who cleans up all of the poop? I doubt it's the Queen B that does the poop scooping.I thought we had moved past Tara Reid. What is with those abs? And when did she get her tits done? They look hard as rocks. That poor bitch, and I don't mean the terrier.Speaking of crazy bitches, Britney Spears is EVERYWHERE today. If you've read the tabloids recently you know she bought yet another mini-dog. The American Humane Society is now pissed. Normally that would be the punchline but they really are. The Humane Society is angry that Britney bought her animal from a pet store because they stand against them due to puppy mi ...

The Five Pillars of Islam: Bullet Point Style
2007-07-16 21:55:00
Every major religion has some form of bullet points that work as a basis for the faith. Take Christianity for instance, the Ten Commandments, though most Christians couldn't name half of them, still work as a basis for the zealots who thump their bibles and live supposedly perfect lives in God's grace. Islam is no different. Muslims are a bit more devout when it comes to their daily rituals and beliefs and this devotion is what brings Muslims across the world together. What most Americans don't realize or understand is that Islam is a peaceful religion that has as much bloodshed and history behind it as Christianity. Therefore I am compelled to give a crash course in the fundamentals of Islam, as best I can.The Five Pillars of Islam are as follows:Shahadah, the Testimony of FaithSalah, prayerSawm, fasting on RamadanZakah, the paying of almsHajj, the pilgrimmage to MeccaKeep in mind that the spelling and pronunciation of each is different from culture to culture as well as region to ...

Last night Motiveless Crime reported on the earthquake that rocked Japan. Initial reports had it that no one had died due to the quake but by morning it was clear that at least 7 bodies have been found buried beneath rubble and the like. Over 900 civilians have been injured and another 10,000 immediately began racing to shelters. The situation only escalated when a second earthquake, this one of 6.8 magnitude, occurred on the ocean floor off of the coast of Japan. MC also reported that the world's largest nuclear plant had experienced some issues but no radioactivity had been reported to have leaked. That situation has also changed, it appears that radioactive water has been dumped into the sea.A suicide bomber has killed over 75 in a market area in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk. Nine thousand pounds of explosive were used in a highly trafficked area and most are claiming that the dead are mostly women and children. Another 185 civilians were seriously injured and witnesses have d ...
