Motiveless Crime News Headlines
2007-07-01 15:17:00
The events of the past few days have been almost entirely focused on the supposed terrorist attacks in London and Glasgow. The government agencies involved have arrested a total of five people in connection to the attacks but are not releasing any new information. Three others are being sought and it is believed the cell responsible is being controlled by a person going by the name "Mr Big". Instead of regurgitating the same news over, check my post from yesterday concerning the incidents.Since today's news is an attempt to catch-up on things I'll be dividing the news into sections.WorldUS airstrikes kill 65 civiliansUS and NATO forces began a bombing campaign that ended with 65 civilians dead, the majority of which were children. The air bombing was part of a larger attempt at killing or driving out Taliban forces in the area which have returned in new and larger numbers. The total number of dead is still unknown because the areas bombed were rather remote. Multiple districts were h ...

MCNH Shorthand/Motiveless Crime Announcements
2007-06-30 17:22:00
Motiveless Crime will not be presenting Guilty Pleasures for the day due to the terrorist attack at the Glasgow Airport.Yesterday I stated that I believed that the attempted attacks in London were only the beginning. My suspicions were confirmed when a Jeep Grand Cherokee rammed into Terminal 1 at Glasgow. Witnesses have reported that the Jeep rammed into a cement barricade, already smoking (which police are reporting may be due to Molotov cocktails being set off in the car) before two men emerged from the car. One man attempted to flee the scene but was tackled by a civilian and then contained by numerous police. The second man emerged from the car, walked to the back and removed a tank of gasoline that he used to dose himself before setting himself on fire. He was tackled as well but not before causing major burn damage to himself. He was then transferred to a hospital where a short time later the building was evacuated when a detonation device was found on his person. A third body h ...

Something Before Bed XVIII
2007-06-29 23:51:00
If you haven't already seen this, it is worth the time. It is an interesting concept though one I doubt will ever come to fruition. The governments of the world would never allow its people to be controlled by companies unless they controlled the companies. Ultimately the missing piece of the puzzle is state interference. How would that change the line of events in this video? The shocking part is how definite the message is...as if it really was sent from the future, which the creator tried to imply at the end. Then again this isn't The 4400.After the car bombs and Prometeus I figured something light and short is in order. ...

Fear of al-Qaeda campaign after explosive find in second MercedesBritish Police Say Two Car Bombs Found in London 'Clearly Linked'NYC Ups Security After London Bomb ScareThe Headlines for today are going to be entirely focused on the car bomb(s?) planted in London's West End today. An Islamic website's forum warned of the oncoming attack which was luckily monitored by anti-terrorism groups. I will not be commenting on this turn of events until tomorrow. This, I fear, is only the beginning. ...

Guilty Pleasures
2007-06-29 21:17:00
Not that much happened today on the celebrity gossip front so today's Guilty Pleasures will be rather short.David Beckham is already becoming the bane of the LA Galaxy soccer team because of the media-circus that seems to follow him everywhere (and that he pays for). Apparently latest reports have it that Dave-the-Tool-Beckham will have his own personal changing room which is somehow validated by the presence of cell phone cameras in the locker room. Apparently the Tool is worried that someone will take a picture of his tool and it will hit the presses. Of course Beckham denies the rumors that he had any idea such a setup was in the plans. Word has it that the Galaxy stadium has now developed an A-List section reserved for Beckham family friends and hangers-on such as Tom-the-Big-Mo-Cruise and his Stepford Wife Katie Holmes. It is LA after all.Britney Spears got in her car and drove to Valencia today. She approached a trailer from which her mother emerged (being on the set for her you ...

Something Before Bed XVII
2007-06-28 23:48:00
The video is done in the style that I have grown to love in viral videos that make political stances. When I first watched the video I couldn't help but think that the issue of trusted computing is rather similar to believing in your government's administration and its ability to make decisions for its people. What is a threat and what is safe? Who decides? It may appear that Something Before Bed is very serious today but this short clip of Hillary Clinton is both political commentary and hilarious. ...

Countdown to iPhone
2007-06-28 23:11:00
The iPhone will be released tomorrow and if you are like me you will be more than happy to see it happen, not because you want one but so people will stop waiting as if it is the second coming. Of course some people have nicknamed the phone the "Jesus Phone" which is really kind of pathetic when you think about it. Normally I consider iPhone news to be the bottom of the barrel which is why it always ends the Motiveless Crime News Headlines. But today the number of articles flooding the virtual news market each had something different to say about the cell phone to end all cell phones, which forced my hand into making it a separate post.Bullet point style seems the best way to convey my distaste for having to report any of this. The iPhone is only supposed to be sold after 6 P.M. EST.Apple has began to trickle out information regarding the EDGE network that most of the iPhone's possible buyers have questioned. It will run the Safari internet browser (eek). The phone will make it possible ...

50 Killed in Iraq ViolenceThe violence in Iraq is reaching new and more bloody heights today after a total of 50 bodies were found. Police found 20 beheaded bodies on a riverbank near a Sunni village. Following that startling discovery another car bomb exploded at a bus station during morning rush hour, killing 20 civilians and wounding over 40 more. Mortars rained down in the Shorja commerical district of Baghdad, killing two. A roadside bomb killed four soldiers (3 British, 1 US). Yet again Operation Arrowhead Ripper is killing more than helping anything.Bush wants Castro to disappear"One day the good Lord will take Fidel Castro away," was the most literate sentence that President George W. Bush said when responding to a question fielded at Naval War College today. Castro has long been a problem for US Presidents due to his long-lived reign and resistance to US demands on how to control his territory. Castro is now 80 and has accused Bush of signing off on an assassination attempt on ...

FBI Limits Student Rights
2007-06-28 15:58:00
A while back I wrote an article concerning the FBI telling major university administrators to be on the lookout for any students or faculty that could possibly be spies and/or terrorists. You can find the article, here. Apparently the FBI has been up to much more.FBI wants students to stop travelingFBI to restrict student freedomsFBI warns colleges of terror threatThe FBI wants to label academics and students as possible enemy combatants or moles and is now asking major universities and technical colleges across the country to limit student rights. So far reports are in that the FBI has asked colleges such as Boston University and the University of Massachusetts to limit student access to ?sensitive? research. They have set forward a few rules that administrators should take into consideration (strong arm tactics). One of the latest FBI actions has been to tell colleges to deter students from leaving the country on holiday or having friends overseas. They fear that these students coul ...

Guilty Pleasures
2007-06-28 14:23:00
Previously Guilty Pleasures has started off with something about Paris Hilton. I'm kind of sick of her so her "news" will be at the bottom of the page...News about Lindsay Lohan's curb-wreck that sent her running to vacation (rehab) hasn't been readily available since the red-headed menace went AWOL. Luckily today law enforcement sources are reporting that Lohan had twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system, plus cocaine! Big shocker, I know. I love how everyone harps on the cocaine but forgets to mention that she is still 20. Who was serving her? It isn't like there isn't a detailed account of her club hopping and bar schmoozing. To top it off someone needs to tell Ms. Lohan that combining alcohol and cocaine produces cocaethylene, a chemical compound caused by the liver mixing the two drugs together. Cocaethylene greatly raises the chances of drug death and the mixture of both is the cause of the majority of drug-related emergency room visits in the US. Look it up if you don ...

Motiveless Crime News Headlines
2007-06-28 13:20:00
Yesterday's Motiveless Crime News Headlines was saved as a draft copy instead of actually being published. I'm not really sure how this happened because I remember trying to publish it. Of course this is Beta. I'm posting it now because of the many emails asking where it went!Riots in Iran following fuel rationingOne of yesterday's major headlines concerned a large number of riots that happened in Iran over the day due to fuel rationing that was put into effect with a mere three hours warning. Citizens took to the streets and the chaos eventually led to 19 petrol stations being lit afire. This latest surge of outbreaks is only part of the anger sweeping the country since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took office two years ago. Ahmadinejad promised to place "oil income on people's tables." So far that promise has only come true for the people higher on the food chain. Apparently lines of cars for miles started forming trying to beat the three hour deadline. One can't help but imagine what ch ...

Something Before Bed XVI
2007-06-27 23:00:00
This video came to my attention today when one of my readers referred it to me via email. Obviously they are playing off of a very 1984, Orwellian principle. Its an interesting video but I really can't help but wonder why Clinton is the bad guy...I mean woman...being politically correct can really be a b*tch.I remember when this advertisement first came out. It was an interesting idea for an ad. I immediately began to question if the people crying were actors or not. In the end it doesn't really matter because it is a one minute long commercial that somehow pulls on a heart string. But there is another side:Oddly enough, I know a few of the Greenpeace workers from when I worked in NYC.Motiveless Crime is on the rise. ...

The Sitcom Lie
2007-06-27 18:42:00
I watch an episode of Friends every day. I know I should probably be ashamed of this but the truth is it?s a coping mechanism. There are many reasons that people continue to watch and warrant endless reruns of shows that have long ago been canceled. Some people watch it because the television shows that replaced sitcoms such as Friends, Will & Grace and Frasier are celluloid crap. Others find the shows? familiarity and 90's political correctness comforting in a world where the man next to you on the bus could be a terrorist. For me it?s both of those reasons plus the fact that I've always found the relationships on 90's sitcoms to be lies, albeit lies I'm more than willing to eat up.Friends was a study in contradictions. Six friends living in New York, across the hall from each other, manage to afford apartments 5 times the size of any other NYC apartment. It?s amazing because all of these characters are interesting but lack any evil tendencies. There is no villain and when the c ...

Guilty Pleasures
2007-06-27 16:48:00
Today's Guilty Pleasures will not be overwhelmed with Queen B (for bitch) news. Only one news article concerning Paris Hilton will appear today, thankfully.Paris Hilton has been blacked out of US Weekly. The tabloid's issue for the week won't even be mentioning the heiress because they felt that the American people were sick of her. People magazine on the other hand has her on the cover. I think we should all agree to ignore her until she leaves the country.Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe attended a school function for one of their kids. Insiders are saying the two barely spoke to each other during the performance and upon exit Reese walked ahead of Ryan looking somewhat chilling. Oh and Ryan is dressed like a drunk homeless man.Michael Lohan, Lindsay's father gave a press release this week concerning his attempts at gaining visitation with the Lohan children. Why is this news? Because he misspelled Lindsay's name (Lyndsay). Wow.Does anyone else remember when Britney Spears k ...
