I Haven’t Left the Republican Party… It Left Me
2008-02-07 16:41:12
-Scott Miller
“I didn’t leave the Democrat party, it left me” - Ronald Reagan
As you know, today Mitt Romney has decided to quit the race for the nomination. He’s made this decision, in my opinion, to position himself as the front runner for the 2012 race. He doesn’t want to be seen as the guy that sabataged John McCain’s Campaign by fighting him all the way to the convention. He’ll work hard this summer and fall for Republican candidates, earning much respect and political chits that he’ll cash in for the next race… most likely against a sitting Democrat president.
It is now clear, John McCain will win the Republican nomination. It’s over. Huckabee supporters, who couldn’t see the forest from the trees when they refused to back Romney, most likely will continue in their state of denial for a little while longer. At some point, Huckabee supporters will come to the realization that it was they who were responsible for t ...

Live Blogging Super Tuesday

- Scott Miller
My apologies for the inconsistent frequency of posts, I am in sunny Florida on business, so I will try to check in on a regular basis to bring you the conservative side of the story…
10:12 PM - Delusional Huckleberry is going on about how he has a chance to win… he’s got 82 delegates! Huckleberry you don’t have a prayer to win, and we all know you are in this to elect McCain, so stop lying… it’s not very Christian of you.
If any of you Huckleberry supporters out there still don’t get the gig, I need only to point to West Virginia as undisputable evidence of collusion between McCain and Huckleberry. Both McCain, and Huckleberry got together to throw their votes to Huckleberry so they would stop Mitt Romney who was beating them in a 3 way race…. proof positive that a McCain-Huckleberry ticket is a very real possibility indeed
10:36- Mitt is on stage. He’s fighting on. “It’s about time we have a preside ...

Amnesty: Coming to a Congress Near You
2008-02-03 09:43:59
- Scott Miller
If John McCain gets the Republican nomination for president, one thing is certain… Congress will be making another massive effort to grant Amnesty and Social Security benefits to the 20+ million illegal aliens.
How do I know this? Because not one of the camps that were pushing Amnesty last summer have given up on the idea. Not the liberal Democrats, not John McCain, and certainly not President Bush. This from Robert Novak:
Bush Against Romney
WASHINGTON, D.C. — While President George W. Bush has maintained neutrality among contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, he privately expresses to friends his exasperation with Mitt Romney’s hard-line stance on immigration.
Bush is upset that Romney changed his position on the issue, compared to what it had been when he was governor of Massachusetts, at the expense of the president’s immigration reform. Bush and Sen. John McCain are not close, but the president is grateful for McCain’s ...

Huckabee: McCain’s Bill Clinton
2008-02-02 15:37:17
-Scott Miller
(2 Goobers… Hope, AR should be so proud)
It is becoming more and more apparent that Schmuckabee is auditioning for the Vice President’s job under John McCain. He’s adopted the Bill Clinton attack dog role for McCain… viciously going after John’s opponents. This from the AP:
Huckabee: Romney shifted on key issues
OKLAHOMA CITY - Republican Mike Huckabee on Friday defended his previous remark that Mitt Romney didn’t reach “political puberty” until recently, saying he was referring to his presidential rival’s change of heart on key issues. Romney said humor has its place, but added that the race for president should be a more serious matter.
The former Arkansas governor made the “political puberty” remark Thursday on MSNBC: “Here’s a man who didn’t hit political puberty in the conservative ranks until 60 years old,” Huckabee said.
Romney, speaking to reporters Friday in Denver, sa ...

Moron.Org Endorses Obama
2008-02-02 09:43:54
- Scott Miller
My friend Holly over at OnThewRiteSide.org, has written a great piece on the recent endoresment of MoveOn.org (aka Moron.org) of Barack Obama (aka BO). This from Holly:
Recently I wrote about how Barack Obama was crowned “King Liberal” by the Kennedy family. At that time I did not think any endorsement could make Obama’s priorities more clear. I should have known better than that.
See related article: Obama Crowned King Liberal
Move On.Org recently took a poll of its members and asked if they had a preference for the Democratic nominee. They claimed that if the vote resulted in a strong favor of one candidate over the other, that they would formally endorse the winner.
“In a resounding vote today, MoveOn.org Political Action’s members nationwide voted to endorse Senator Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for President,” reads a press release posted today from the group. “The group, with 3.2 million members nationwide and ...

Putting Charlie Wilson’s War into Proper Perspective
2008-02-02 09:11:01
- Scott Miller
I’ll be the first to admit, that I have not read the book, nor have I yet seen the recently released movie based on the George Crile book.
We have heard from some of the loony left trying to spin the movie into proof that Ronald Reagan did not win the cold war… somehow Charlie Wilson is really responsible for the defeat of the Soviet Union. Nothing could be further from the truth.
As Michael Johns explains in a brilliant in-depth analysis of the fall of the Soviet Union, while Charlie Wilson played an important role in America’s fight against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, the Afghan effort was just one part of Ronald Reagan’s global effort to bring down communism. I’m publishing a few excerpts below from this exceptional piece to give you a flavor of Johns expert analysis (follow above link to the rest):
Importantly, however, as Reagan astutely recognized, in nearly all of these Soviet-supported totalitarian states that com ...

McCain Hypocrisy: Schwarzenegger Supports Time Tables for Iraq Withdrawal
2008-02-01 20:55:11
- Scott Miller
(The 3 A-Libero’s)
John McCain is a man of strong principle, right? He’s the “straight talk express” dude… the guy that would just assume lose the election than back down on a position of principle. Yeah… rrrighht. This from the AP:
Schwarzenegger Puts Muscle Behind McCain
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger endorsed Sen. John McCain in the Republican presidential race on Thursday, praising him as an “extraordinary leader” who can reach across the political aisle to get things done.
“Governor Schwarzenegger is an exceptional governor and we are honored that he has decided to endorse Senator McCain, and look forward to the event tomorrow,” said Steve Schmidt, a senior McCain adviser who managed Schwarzenegger’s 2006 campaign.
So McCain thinks Governor Schwarzenegger is an “exceptional governor”, and yet Governor Schwarzenegger is a vocal supporter of time tables for withdrawal in Iraq. This ...

BREAKING… Straight Talk Express Derailed by AP
2008-01-31 19:47:14
- Scott Miller
This whole “Straight Talk Express” thing is so cheesy, and such a farce it’s laughable. Many of us conservatives have been calling McCain on his dishonest revisions of his record for the past couple months. The socialist media has pretty much ignored his playing fast and loose with the facts… until today. This from the AP:
McCain changes story on tax cut stance
WASHINGTON - Republican John McCain says he opposed President Bush’s tax cuts because they didn’t come with spending cuts. That is not what he said at the time.
In a presidential debate on Wednesday, McCain said he voted against the Bush tax cuts because he wanted to rein in spending.
“I disagreed when we had tax cuts without spending restraint,” the Arizona senator said. The explanation fits with his history of railing against wasteful federal spending.
But it does not fit with McCain’s comments when he opposed the Bush tax cuts in 2001 and 2003. In 2001, ...

Educating the Left: Barstool Economics
2008-01-30 16:52:16
- Scott Miller
I first got wind of this essay listening to Sean Hannity on my drive home the other day. It is a simple, yet at the same time, a brilliant illustration of the hair-brained view of economic fairness that permeates the thinking of the liberal left these days.
If the soucing of this is accurate, we thank David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D., Professor of Economics at the University of Georgia for the excellent piece below… enjoy!
Bar Stool Economics
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until on day, the ...

Now A Two Man Race
2008-01-29 20:51:17
- Scott Miller
Well, unfortunately Conservatives in Florida spilt their votes, again… and Huckleberry played the role of spoiler, again. At the time of this posting, it looks like John McCain has squeaked out another slight win in Florida tonight with 36% of the vote. Just 1 in 3 republicans supported John McCain tonight.
So conservative gear up to fight on! We are only 5 states into this fight, and I’m not going to let the media tell me the race is over, and John McCain has it wrapped up (as I’m sure we will hear for the next 7 days).
This is now a two man race. John McCain has 93 delegates, and Mitt Romney has 59 delegates. The winner will need 1191 delegates to get the nomination. Conservatives still have plenty of time to have their say in this country, and I’m confident that we will prevail by getting behind Mitt Romney to stop McCain the liberal.
I ask you Huckleberry supporter out there to reconsider your votes next Tuesday. Mike is done. He’s got ...

Florida Conservatives: A Huckabee Vote = A Vote for McCain the Liberal
2008-01-28 22:09:52
- Scott Miller
(Shucks y’all. I only raised taxes this much in Arkansas)
I know many of you Huckabee supporters in Florida are still in denial, so I’m here to douse you with a bit of cold water, and tell you that Huckabee doesn’t have a shot to win in Florida tomorrow (he’s in 4th place at 13% in the latest polls). Since your state is a winner take all state, you are throwing away your vote if you vote for Mike tomorrow. Plain and simple.
However, you still have a chance to have a direct impact…for the good on this race. As you are keenly aware, Mitt and McCain are deadlocked in the polls tonight. If you are truly conservatives, then nothing… and I mean nothing, ought to scare you more than giving a win tomorrow to John McCain.
This is the same John McCain who:
Wrote the amnesty bill for 20 million illegal aliens, with his good friend and liberal democrat Teddy Kennedy. A bill that would have left our borders wide open; allowed the 20 million i ...

Nasty Old McCain Rears His Ugly Head
2008-01-27 08:30:16
- Scott Miller
You would think that John McCain would be riding high today. In the past few days, he was endorsed by the most liberal rag in print, the New York Times. Then he receives the endorsement of a major open-borders liberal Senator from Florida, Mel Martinez. Then tonight, another open-borders, amnesty loving, lib endorses McCain… this time it’s the governor of Florida, Charlie Crist.
But all these meaningless endorsements weren’t enough to quell McCain’s nasty temper as Mitt Romney rises in the Florida polls, and McCain is getting desperate. This from Fox News:
McCain Cranks Up Attacks on Romney as Fla. Polls Put Them in Dead Heat
Just as the GOP candidates were starting to go easy on each other, John McCain cranked up the volume against his top Florida competitor, Mitt Romney, on Friday, suggesting the former venture capitalist is more of a desk jockey than a president.
Following a mostly cordial debate Thursday night in Boca Raton, McCain called a ...

Florida: Don’t be Fooled by John McCain on Illegal Immigration
2008-01-26 18:23:27
- Scott Miller
All of a sudden John McCain is talking like a conservative. On the issue of illegal immigration, he is now saying he wants to secure our border first, but never says how he will do that. I have him on video below saying he won’t build a fence on the border. Watch for yourselves (email readers got here to watch clips):
Barack Obama – “I’m with John McCain” on Amnesty
Tim Russert catches John McCain on his Amnesty lie
McCain smears conservatives as “Anti-Immigrant”
McCain – “We are not going to build the fence”

When Will the Republican Candidates Grow a Set?
2008-01-25 20:05:47
- Scott Miller
You know what I’m looking for? I’m looking for one of the candidates to stop playing kissy-face with these socialist reporters, and to start taking them on when they spew their liberal talking points.
If you missed last night’s Republican Debate on MSNBC, consider yourself lucky. It was a pathetic attempt at a debate. Tim Russert and Brian Williams did a liberal hatchet job on the candidates…. prefacing most questions with a litany of liberal talking point assertions, and then throwing it to the candidates to defend against their assertions.
Here’s Russert at his liberal worst. Tim comes in at about minute 3 of this 6 minute clip:
Not one. Not one of these so-called conservative candidates decided to take on Russert’s asinine assertion. Russert cherry-picked a few stats to paint his bleak view of the economy under President Bush, and none of these guys called him on it!
No one said the following… “You know Tim, you do ...

Hugo Chavez Has Got Nothing on Hillary
2008-01-24 21:59:38
- Scott Miller
Just when I think that Hillary can’t get further left, she opens her mouth and somehow gets left of Hugo freakin’ Chavez! I’ll take you through some of the more disturbing details… this from the New York Times (hat-tip to Mark Levin on the story).
For Clinton, Government as Economic Prod
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said that if she became president, the federal government would take a more active role in the economy to address what she called the excesses of the market and of the Bush administration.
This ought to scare the hell out of anyone who wants to make sure that America remains the stongest economy in the world. The last damn thing we need is the government taking anymore of an active role in the economy than it currently does. Today, businesses are burdened with massive government regulations and red tape as it is. Government regulates what types of toilets we can sell, what types of light bulbs we can sell… I could go on for h ...
