Live Blogging Tonight’s Fox News Republican Debate
2008-01-10 20:09:41
- Scott Miller I decided to share my immediate impressions of the candidiates as they participate in the Republican debate tonight. Hang on tight, be prepared for more typos than usual…. here we go: 9:11 - Like Rudy’s response on tax cuts promoting growth in economy. 9:13 - John McCain is a phony. He just said that the first thing we should do is make President Bush’ tax cuts permanent… the only problem with that is he VOTED AGAINST the Bush Tax cuts! Asked a couple days ago whether he stood by the vote against the Bush tax cuts, he said yes. 9:15 - Ron Paul is babbling again. 9:17 - Thompson - great answer on tax cuts bringing more revenues into the government. Calling out that the government “experts” are always wrong on how tax cuts effect revenues. 9:19 - Huckster fumbles response to Carl… he looks/sounds nervous. He’s preaching again. 9:21 - McCain pulls climate change out in a discussion about the Ronald Reagan revolution? Say ...

The Live Free or Die State Deals a Big Blow to Liberty
2008-01-09 21:03:12
- Scott Miller Not too long ago, New Hampshire was a solid, conservative, red state. No longer. The Live Free or Die state, a state who’s motto expressly implies that they would defend liberty at all cost, dealt a big blow to liberty yesterday when they voted for two of the biggest liberty stealing candidates in the race… one on each side.  Are there any conservatives in New Hampshire any more? What the hell is the matter with you people up there? Voting for John McCain? Mr. Anti-Liberty. Mr Big Government. Are you kidding me? What a bunch of suckers. If I sound pissed off… I am! And I don’t want to hear about how the guy is a war hero. Everyone knows that (how can you not, he reminds you every other day), but that’s completely beside the point. This guy is a lib. This is the same guy who used the power of government to steal our liberty by passing major restrictions on free political speech (McCain-Feingold). This is the same lib who crafted the McCa ...
I Guess the Libs Really Do Like Change
2008-01-08 22:06:06
-Scott Miller I spent the night working on improving this site so we will be able to bring you video clips go forward. After a bit of frustration, and more than my share of cursing… I was able to get it up and going! See yesterday’s Hillary crying post. Really quickly on tonight’s election… I’ve always had trouble trying to apply logic to liberals, and nothing has changed. After tonight’s Democrat results, the only thing I know for sure about the libs is that they do like change. They change their minds on whether they support the troops or not. Whether they want illegals to have drivers license or not… and many times they change positions daily (usually based on polling data). Well tonight another change… Hillary upsets BO in NH. I dunno… maybe I’ll stop trying to figure them out. I’m listening to her speech now, and I just can’t see how liberals will end up nominating this phony over BO, but maybe they w ...
Hillary’s Muskie Moment in New Hampshire… Cry Me a River
2008-01-07 22:06:34
- Scott Miller Every once in a while, something beautiful happens… something that reaffirms our belief in God. We got one of those moments today. In an Ed Muskie like moment, Hillary actually cried today on the campaign trail! The liberal press is downplaying the incident saying things like “Hillary got emotional” today… no, no, no… she didn’t get emotional, she had a mini breakdown. The circumstances surrounding Hillary’s New Hampshire breakdown were eerily similar to the last presidential candidate, Edmund Muskie, to publicly cry on the campaign trail in New Hampshire during the 1972 nomination race. This from Wikipedia: Before the 1972 election, Muskie was viewed as a frontrunner for the Democratic Presidential nomination. The nation was at war in Vietnam and President Richard Nixon’s war policies (and foreign policy, more generally) promised to be a major issue in the campaign. The 1972 Iowa caucuses, however, significantly alt ...
Edwards: I’m Gonna Destroy Corporations… this Time it’s Personal
2008-01-06 13:35:00
- Scott Miller If one thing came across very clear in last nights Democrat debate, it was that John Edwards (you know the guy with a $3,000 suit and a $400 hair cut) is bound and determined to destroy corporations in America.  Not sure exactly what happened to Johnny when he was little… maybe he was mocked by the fries cook at McDonalds or something… I don’t know. Whatever it was, man-oh-man does he hate American companies… and this time it’s personal. This directly from the transcript of last nights debate: Transcript of Democrat Debate here. MR. SPRADLING: — prior executive experience and is relative youth a detriment? MR. EDWARDS: No, I think what matters — we’ve had — we’ve had a lot of conversation about the first day in the White House. I think we ought to picture what that first day in the White House would be for each of us. I’ll just speak for myself. You know, I’m the candidate up here who’s ne ...
Feeling a Bit Empty After the Republican Debate
2008-01-05 21:27:16
- Scott Miller I’ll be honest… I was not that impressed with the Republican field of candidates tonight. While I think Fred had the right answers to every issue, he seemed almost annoyed that he had to be there. Kind of reminded me of George H.W. Bush looking at his watch in the Clinton, Bush, Perot debate back in the 90’s. He was too laid back, too professorial… I was looking for some passion about conservative ideals, and while he delivered the conservative ideals, he did so without much passion. Opportunity lost I’m afraid. Mitt seemed defensive, and probably rightly so… he was the clear target tonight. At times he handled the onslaught well, and at times he looked a bit flustered. All in all, Mitt sounded pretty conservative. I liked when he called out McCain on the fact that he would let all illegal aliens stay in the country… McCain tried to leave the impression he would not, but the facts are that he would. I think he made a mistak ...
Without Bill, Hillary Has Accomplished Nothing
2008-01-05 10:58:48
-Scott Miller I apologize for focusing so much on Hillary Claus lately, but there’s so much low hanging fruit to go after here over the past couple days, I can’t stop myself! The so-called husband of hers can’t seem to shut his mouth…. another huge flaw of their campaign. It is very obvious that the unstated theme of her campaign is not vote for Hillary for president, but vote for Hillary and you’ll get a third Bill Clinton term. He’s out there getting more press than she is, and he is out front in almost every campaign event. This from the AP: Hillary Clinton leans on ‘relic’ Bill WASHINGTON - In a presidential race where the Democratic candidates are competing as agents of change, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s most reliable campaign prop is something of a political relic — her husband. The former president was at her side to help put the best face on her third-place finish Thursday in Iowa, and he was beside her again when dawn bro ...
Hey Slick Willie… Hillary’s No Bill Clinton
2008-01-05 08:26:47
- Scott Miller The Clintons are desperate and flailing after their massive defeat in Iowa. We now actually have Hillary’s so-called husband, the Slickmeister, trying to compare her political ability to his. This from ABC News: Hillary Clinton Says She Is ‘Most Innocent’ on Campaign Trail   Former President Bill Clinton rallied to his wife’s side today, saying Hillary’s disappointing third-place finish in Iowa was not a fatal blow. He predicted that she can be the “comeback kid” just like he was. “Absolutely,” he told ABC News at a campaign event for his wife. “Remember I lost here,” he added, referring to his New Hampshire loss to Paul Tsongas in 1992 . Hillary Clinton finished in third place in Iowa getting 30 percent of the vote. She was edged out of a second-place finish by former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards. It’s amazing to me that the Clintons actually think that Hillary Claus is even remotely similar t ...
The Audacity of Those Iowa Libs…
2008-01-03 22:00:15
- Scott Miller … not voting for her Majesty the Queen… how dare they!  Tonight was a disasterous night for Hillary Claus. 3rd place! I doubt she will be able to recover. BO will roll into NH and probably trounce Hillary by a greater margin than the 9pts she lost by tonight. After that, BO rolls to SC and trounces her there, and then he beats her in Michigan… it’s all over after that. There will be no stopping them.   Even her consession speech tonight was boring. She’s got nothing going for her. No message, no experience, no appeal. So I’m pleased to predict tonight… stick a fork in the Clintons… they’re done! ...
Iowa Conservatives Vote
2008-01-03 21:45:37
- Scott Miller Here’s my quick take on the Iowa results… Rudy is the big winner tonight, and here is how I get there… with Mitt taking a big blow tonight, and possibly a big loss in NH to McCain, he could very well be out after NH or SC. Fred may very well drop out after SC if he doesn’t begin to win. Duncan Hunter, and Ron Paul have no chance and will be out of the race soon as well…. so who’s left? John McCain… he may very well win NH, but conservatives will not nominate John McCain. Period. Mike Huckabee… the Huckster had a good day today, but I think he is most likely a one hit wonder. The guy is not a conservative. He does not have a conservative record. I can’t see him moving past Super Tuesday, if he makes it that far. That leaves Rudy…. in a odd way, even though Rudy had skipped Iowa in favor of fighting in the Super Tuesday states, that strategy may pay off as conservatives look for a strong candidate that t ...
Undecideds are Greatest Threat to Our Nation
2008-01-03 19:39:04
- Scott Miller If I hear one more freakin’ moron reporter tell me how smart, thoughtful, and interested the Iowa voters are… and then in the next breath tell me that huge numbers of these same voters have changed candidates 3 times within the last 3 days and are still undecided… I’m gonna’ throw my remote through the TV. I’ve come to the determination that so-called undecideds are the problem with this country. If you have no core principles to fall back on when you are examining the records and policy positions of a candidate, then you are nothing but a pile of mush ready to be molded by the next candidate you hear from. You have nothing inherent in your being that allows you to listen to a candidate and cut through the spin and decide for yourself what is BS and what is not. With all due respect to Iowans, you really do not need to shake every candidate’s hand 2 or 3 times to make a decision on which candidate most closely aligns with your ...
Why Iowa Conservatives Should Caucus for Fred
2008-01-02 20:15:52
- Scott Miller Well, tomorrow’s the big day. Iowa conservatives go to their caucuses to nominate their pick for the Republican nominee. I’d like to make one last pitch for the man I think is the right guy to lead this nation during these perilous times… and that guy is Fred Thompson. My reasons are quite simple. Fred is a true conservative. He always has been a true conservative, and he always will be one. The best indicator of what a candidate will do tomorrow is to look to what they have done in the past. Fred has a rock solid conservative record. He is a man that truly understands the constitution, and the importance of appointing originalists judges. Beyond that, Fred is the only candidate that has put forth extensive, detailed, and extremely well thought out conservative position papers on some of the most important issues of our day. Issues like: Securing our borders and ending illegal immigration Enhancing our nation’s military Tax Relief and economic ...
Holiday Recap: Romney Executes, Huckster’s Major Huck-Up, Fred Sticks Foot in Mouth
2008-01-01 14:51:33
- Scott Miller Happy New Year to all The Conservative Post readers! 2008 is going to be an incredible year for politics, and we are fired up and ready to take on the libs and their misguided, warped, twisted sense of right and wrong. While I was taking a short break this holiday, I was not completely removed from the week’s political events. Here’s a quick run down of my impressions of the week’s majors stories: 1) Mitt continues to execute like a seasoned executive… the more I watch Mitt run this campaign, the more I am impressed with his ability to manage a very large campaign in a very fluid race. His strategy all along has been to spend an enormous amount of time and resources in Iowa and New Hampshire in hopes that early wins in those states would propel him to the nomination. Mitt has proven very astute and adroit at flexing to deal with his rivals as they have made runs at his leader position in both states. When Mitt lost his lead to the Huckster in ...
Merry Christmas from The Conservative Post
2007-12-25 10:29:52
- Scott Miller As you may have noticed, we are bit slow with the posts this week… The Conservative Post has descended on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina for Christmas at the beach this year. We are recharging our batteries, enjoying one of God’s most beautiful seaside creations, and getting ready for the huge political year as we go to work pushing back the liberal hordes. To the troops, and their families, both here and abroad… our prayers are with you, thank you for defending our liberty, be safe and God’s speed. To The Conservative Post readers… Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year. Talk at ya’ next week! ...
