The Economic Schizophrenia of the Left
2008-01-23 21:02:28
- Scott Miller What a strange place liberal democrats find themselves in right now. Due to the hysterical recession fears gripping capital hill, Democrats find themselves inflicted with a severe case of economic schizophrenia. Picture this. We have their three main candidates for President, and the lib leadership in both the House and the Senate, all vowing to raise taxes as soon as a Democrat presidential candidate takes the oath of office. Higher business taxes, higher taxes for families with children, higher taxes for anyone who pays income taxes, higher taxes for married couples, etc, etc, etc… you get the drift. Then POW, recession fears hit world markets like a Tsunami, and the libs are now scrambling to advocating TAX CUTS to spur economic growth faster than Chucky Schumer can find a TV camera. Speaking of Chucky, here he is on Fox News Sunday: I think both sides have of Pennsylvania Avenue, both parties, realize our economy is headed south in a significant way and ...
What Mitt Can Learn From Fred
2008-01-22 19:24:27
- Scott Miller As I wrote this past Sunday, I believe Mitt Romney is now the most conservative candidate left in this race. Now that Fred has stepped down, and Huckabee’s novelty has worn off, hopefully conservatives will begin to coalesce behind Mitt. I believe Mitt now has a window of opportunity to consolidate his conservative support, and dispatch McCain in relative short order. Mitt would do well to spend some time on Fred’s site, Fred08.com, to get a deeper understanding of the principles that guide many of us conservatives. Individual Liberty . As Jefferson spelled out in the Declaration of Independence, our basic rights come from God, not from government, and that among these inalienable rights is the right to liberty. We must allow individuals to lead their lives with minimal government interference. Personal Responsibility . The corollary to liberty is responsibility. No society can succeed and thrive for any duration unless free people act in a responsible way. A ...
Open Borders Chaos, Negligence in Washington
2008-01-21 16:33:25
- Scott Miller Almost every candidate for president is now on record saying that they think it is a priority to secure our borders. The problem is that most of them don’t have a shred of credibility on the issue. John McCain, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards support giving amnesty to the 20 million illegals in this country. Huckabee and Rudy have pretty liberal records on this issue that they are trying to defend. Mitt Romney has the best record on the subject, and is really the only guy that has the credibility to address the chaos stemming from our open borders. Parents in Chandler, Arizona for months have had to deal with the fear of a serial child rapist in their midst. Finally, the police have a suspect in custody… and wouldn’t you know, he’s a twice deported illegal alien. This from Fox News: Arizona Serial Rape Suspect Arrested, Linked to Attacks by DNA CHANDLER, Ariz. —  A suspect in the sexual assaults of several young girls in Ch ...
Divided, Conservatives Fall
2008-01-20 15:34:27
- Scott Miller You know the old saying… united we stand, divided we fall. This is exactly what is happening to conservatives in the Republican primaries. John McCain, not a conservative in any way, won last night in South Carolina with only 33% of the vote. Vote percentage doesn’t really matter though. All that matters is the headlines and the momentum gained with a win, and McCain got both last night. Conservatives split their votes between Mitt Romney (15%), Fred Thompson (16%) and Mike Huckabee (30%), and McCain-the-lib slips through. This scenario is likely to repeat again in Florida, and beyond if conservatives don’t get behind one candidate, and soon. So today, as much as it pains me to say this, I think Fred needs to step aside and encourage his supporters to support Mitt Romney. Now, I realize many of my fellow Fred heads don’t want to let go of Fred’s candidacy, and are encouraging Fred to fight on… but I actually think Fred is taking a ...
Huckabee, the Liberal, In His Own Words
2008-01-18 21:52:08
- Scott Miller Just a few hours before South Carolina conservatives vote in the Republican primary, and I thought I’d show Mike, in his own words, on raising taxes in Arkansas. I have many problems with Mike, but the largest is that when he thinks no one is looking he adopts the Democrat tactics, and the Democrat rhetoric, to address an issue. Roads need fixing? Don’t even consider addressing by cutting spending, just raise taxes. That’s the liberal way, and that is the Huckabee way. See him in his own words (email readers go here): The fact is that Huckabee raised taxes $500 million more than he cut while Governor of Arkansas. The Club for Growth has the details here on Huckabee’s extremely liberal record as Governor of Arkansas. Add his abysmal record on taxes to his asinine positions on supporting amnesty for illegal aliens, giving terrorists detainees constitutional rights, and amending the constitution at the drop of a hat… and what do we have?  ...
Why Conservatives Say “Hell No!” to McCain
2008-01-17 12:08:01
- Scott Miller I’ve been posting quite a bit about why I think John McCain is the worst choice the Republican Party could make when selecting the next presidential candidate… and I’m not the only one. Below, taken together, is a devastating case against McCain as the nominee of the Republicans. This from Human Events: John McCain’s Top 10 Class-Warfare Arguments Against Tax Cuts McCain: “I’m not giving tax cuts for the rich.” McCain: “I have never engaged in class warfare. I am very much in favor of tax cuts for middle-income and lower-income Americans. I’m deeply concerned about a kind of class warfare that’s going on right now. It’s unfortunate. There’s a growing gap between the haves and have-nots in America, and that gap is growing, and it’s unfortunately divided up along ethnic lines.” McCain: “As I said, there are tax breaks and money for the richest in America and the very rich, but I think that it’s clear that there ...
Fred: ‘Don’t Beg Saudis for Oil’
2008-01-17 07:51:10
- Scott Miller This is a case in point for why I support Fred Thompson in this race. The man is a principled conservative… you can tell by the way he views the world, and the positions he takes. Two days ago I wrote a post about how freakin’ embarrassing it was for America to see President Bush over in Saudi Arabia begging for oil. Yesterday, Fred picked up on the theme. This from Reuters: Thompson criticizes appeal to Saudis WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Appealing to Saudi Arabia to encourage higher oil production to help lower prices is not in the long-term interest of the United States, Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson said on Wednesday. The White House said President George W. Bush hopes that as a result of his talks this week with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, OPEC would be encouraged to increase production to help alleviate high oil prices, which have touched $100 a barrel. Appearing on CNN, Thompson was asked whether, as president, he would turn to Saudi Ar ...
Dick Morris: Chronically Wrong
2008-01-16 20:50:19
- Scott Miller Wouldn’t it be great if you could get a gig where you could be consistently wide of the mark… and yet you still get paid? You get go on Fox News a couple times a week as a paid analyst, and you get to write syndicated column. You also get to portray yourself as a conservative… what a deal! Well, Dick Morris has just that job, and yes, he’s a political incompetent… and no, he is in no way a conservative. He also is about as accurate with his analysis as a blind sniper. I’ve always pretty much ignored the guy as just another blow hard pundit, but lately I keep hearing him claim that he is a conservative. So I started poking around his record, both as a conservative and as an expert “analyst”, and found that he is neither. Here’s a quick list of Dick Morris misses in just the past few weeks: 1/13/08 (2 days before Romney beats McCain in Michigan) - MAN TO BEAT: MCCAIN’S CROSS-PARTY APPEAL 1/7/08 (1 day before Hill ...
Embarrassing! Bush Begs Saudis for Oil
2008-01-15 20:25:25
- Scott Miller The fact that America finds itself essentially helpless in it’s dependence on foreign oil 30 years after the Jimmy Carter induced gas and oil shortages of the 70’s is pathetic indeed. This from ABC News:  Bush Talks to Saudi King Over Oil Prices President Bush on Tuesday nudged OPEC powerhouse Saudi Arabia and other cartel members to produce more oil, recognizing that soaring prices are straining the U.S. economy. Bush said he is speaking with Saudi King Abdullah, whose nation holds the world’s largest oil reserves, about the situation that has seen the per-barrel price briefly top $100 this month and U.S. pump prices jump past $3 a gallon. “Oil prices are very high, which is tough on our economy,” Bush said. “I would hope, as OPEC considers different production levels, that they understand that if … one of their biggest consumers’ economy suffers, it will mean less purchases, less oil and gas sold.” The Organizati ...
Michigan Conservatives Turn Out!
2008-01-15 19:48:52
- Scott Miller Well, well, well… look at what happens when conservatives in a large state actually begin to turn out to nominate the Republican candidate… John McCain the lib loses! As I type tonight, Fox News just called the race for Mitt Romney. This is great news for the conservative movement, and a huge set back for liberals like McCain (who won Michigan in 2000). Another lib, Schmuckabee placed a distant third as well. Now… Fred is my guy in this race, and he is picking up steam in South Carolina, but it was very important for conservatives to blunt the momentum of the amnesty supporting - tax raising - conservative judge blocking - arrogant - eco lib like McCain. Congratulations to Mitt on his win tonight… we need conservatives staying in this race! ...
Michigan Conservatives… Are You Really Going to Vote for Amnesty?
2008-01-15 08:01:08
- Scott Miller To all my Michigan conservative friends out there… don’t fall for John McCain’s revised rhetoric. He still supports the same Amnesty bill that we killed last summer, and he will not secure our borders…. here he is in his own words (email readers go here to see: Today, we encourage a vote for Mitt Romney, to stop McCain’s momentum.  ...
Hillary vs. Obama: I’m a Victim, No, I’m a Victim!
2008-01-14 19:40:42
- Scott Miller (Damn girl… how’d you fit into that pant suit?) While, it would have been great to watch Hillary in sheer panic mode after a big loss in New Hampshire… I’m beginning to enjoy the lib race in it’s current state. Now I’m hoping that their race goes all the way to the convention! It’s beautiful… we now have each of the lib candidates scratching each others eyes out, in a race to claim who’s the bigger victim… Hillary as a woman, or BO as a black man. To be fair, Hillary started it. When her fellow candidates jumped on her flip-flop on illegal drivers licenses in the Philadelphia debate, Hillary played the woman victim card by saying the Old Boys Club was attacking her. Now it’s BO’s turn. After Hillary said that Lyndon Johnson did more for minority rights than Martin Luther King, and then her so-called husband attacked BO as a “fairy tale”, the “black leadership” is now up ...
Decoding Liberal Speak
2008-01-12 20:25:54
-Scott Miller Back in World War II, America was having a heck of a time defeating the Japanese naval force until they cracked their secret communication code. Once that happened, understanding the true intentions of the Japanese became very clear indeed. Well, if the American people are going to truly understand the intentions of the liberal presidential candidates (on both sides), they are going to need our handy dandy little liberal speak decoder below: Change = all you’ll have left when we are done taxing the bejesus out of you Invest = Spend NeoCon = Anyone not a Liberal It’s not Amnesty = It’s Amnesty Pathway to citizenship = Amnesty Cowboy diplomacy = Putting America’s best interests above all else in negotiations Torture = Anything stronger than a good tongue lashing I will stand up for you = I will control all aspect of your lives Invisible Americans = Americans who want a hand out We are in it for the American people = the American people are in for ...
Asinine Liberal Headline of the Week
2008-01-12 09:45:39
- Scott Miller Liberal reporters never cease to amaze me when it comes to their overall stupidity. Here is a case in point, this from Reuters:  Clinton upstages Republicans with stimulus plan Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton on Friday proposed $70 billion in emergency spending to stave off a possible U.S. election-year recession, upstaging Republican rivals who clashed over the economy but offered few specifics. The New York senator, who hopes to become the Democratic nominee in the November election, proposed $30 billion to help low-income families hit by the mortgage crisis and $40 billion in other spending, mainly for the poor and unemployed. The former first lady, trying to build momentum after her narrow New Hampshire primary victory over Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, also urged Congress to prepare an additional $40 billion in tax rebates for low- and middle-income families to be implemented if the initial stimulus fails. Clinton released her economic proposals a ...
Desperate Schmuckabee
2008-01-11 20:25:33
-Scott Miller Huckabee is smarting. He got clobbered in last nights debate. Fred mopped the floor with him. Plus, unable to capitalize on his Iowa win, he came on a very distant 3rd in NH. It looks to me like Mike has topped out, and he’s got no where else to go. After last nights butt kicking by Fred, Scmuckabee went on hard-core leftist MSNBC (of all places) this morning to try to defend himself. After 8 hours of hard thinking, this was the best he could do (email readers visit site to watch video): Now, I can’t tell if Scmuckabee is running for comedian in chief or commander in chief… but this is typical of this moron. He is neither funny, or terribly cleaver. Notice, he doesn’t ever actually rebut Fred’s criticism of his record… you know why? Because he can’t. Everything Fred said about Schmuckabee’s record is dead on… and the Huckster knows it. ...
