Michael Vick Pleads Guilty to Federal Dogfighting Charges
2007-08-27 14:39:00
He may be admitting to being remorseful now, but if he wasn't caught by the system, I don't doubt that he would have stopped his repulsive behavior. If I were the judge, I would sentence Michael Vick to five years behind prison bars and furthermore, I wouldn't recommend that he be paroled while he serves. Once he IS released I would have him volunteer for another five years at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Sound harsh? I don't think so - not when you consider what he put those poor, innocent dogs through by his heartless decisions. READ ABOUT THIS HEREPractice non-violence in your lives. Woman Raped in Minnesota Hallway and Witnesses Do Nothing for 90 Minutes
2007-08-24 14:50:00
I am aghast, appalled, shocked, disbelieving and all of the many other adjectives that you can think of as I sit here and type this story to you right now. Did these people think that they were watching a reality show in their hall???!!!!! Ok...I have to calm my mind down before I can continue to blog any further. I can understand that a few people there may have been afraid to get physically involved (I definitely would have, using a less than lethal weapon) but how in the world can you justify not picking up either a cell or a landline telephone and dialing 911 when you know you can help???!!!!!! My readers, I can't get over this...I simply cannot get over this. READ ABOUT THIS HEREPractice non-violence in your lives. You will be leaving your children a beautiful legacy. ...
Ted Nugent's Latest Political Rant Video Shows Nature of a Gun-Loving Beast
2007-08-24 13:29:00
Would you trust this man with not one but multiple guns after viewing this video? I sure wouldn't. If the National Rifle Association (or ANY gun owner in this country) is proud of this unclassy, uncouth, distasteful individual, well then all I can say is that they need to take a second, third and even forth look at their so-called conservative hero. China Won't Allow Human Rights Activist's Wife to Travel for Award
2007-08-24 12:38:00
Every single human being who exists upon this planet is born with the inherent human right to be able to travel any place that they wish to go in this beautiful world of ours. As a person who has never had to face such a degrading feeling myself, I can well imagine the sheer frustration that Yuan Weijing must feel at not being allowed to be able to travel wherever it is that she would like to go for whatever reason. Tell me something - what good is the United Nations if they cannot intervene on this woman's behalf and uphold this human right of hers?! In my opinion, they have proven once again that they are good for NOTHING and I do not respect them. READ ABOUT THIS HEREPractice non-violence in your lives. Arizona Student Suspended for Drawing Picture of a Gun
2007-08-24 12:05:00
Was this an overreaction? definitely. Can I understand it? definitely. To put it bluntly, these days, school officials are very frightened of anything that is related to a gun in the school and I can't say that I blame them. When I was a kid, someone in one of my classes could have drawn a picture of a gun and it wouldn't have caused an eye blink. Today, unfortunately, this is no longer the case and it is a very sad state of affairs. Given this fact, I do not think school students should be drawing pictures of guns on their assigment papers unless the subject of the assignment warrants them to do so. I am glad that The Mostellers were able to have their son's suspension reduced to a more reasonable amount of time and hopefully this will be a lesson to students in the future who feel that they can draw pictures of guns without any consequence while in a school setting. 3 Teens Die After Going Through Railroad Crossing Gate While Trying to Outrun Train
2007-08-23 13:00:00
Oh this is so very, very terrible. Such a waste of three young viable lives!!! My heart goes out to these young people's families and friends who are no doubt suffering while I am blogging. Granted the teens should have known better and never even attempted to do such a stupid, foolhardy stunt but chances are that they were on SOME kind of substance at the time of this incident and it impaired their thought processes to a great degree. We parents/caretakers need to do so much educating of our young ones about getting through their daily lives. We need to talk and talk and talk some more about what's right and wrong behavior when it comes to their safety out there in the world!!!!!!!! And now some words about the crossing arms that are spread throughout America - they are not strong enough to save a human life should they decide to walk through them, nor can they hold back a speeding car as we have seen more than one time. They are a joke and need to be tossed into the trash heap ...
Atlanta is Tired of Looking at Peoples' Sagging Pants and Wants an Amendment
2007-08-23 12:08:00
On a baby it is cute. Adorable even. But on a teen or an adult who is wearing saggy pants in public just so that we can catch a glimpse of their underwear and/or what's underneath the under? Uh-uh. Not cute nor adorable even. I don't care WHAT culture this so called "fashion trend" came out of, my dear readers. I STILL say that the general public really doesn't need to see each others' undies peeking out from under their pants. What are we, anyway? human flags that are honoring our dead? or human beings who are honoring our bodies? To me, there is no honor in wearing pants flying at Half-Mast, unless we are mourning the loss of decency. I wish this amendment lots of luck and hope it passes good and strong. I for one would much rather see a guy in tight shorts walking toward me, allowing me to imagine the color of his underwear. ;) READ ABOUT THIS HEREPractice non-violence in your lives. Workplace Violence Prevention Expert Releases Findings From Research
2007-08-21 15:04:00
In the interest of doing my part to help Mr. W. Barry Nixon reduce violence in the workplace, I would now like to direct your attention to his excellent information, via his website, The National Institute For The Prevention Of Workplace Violence. In addition, there is an interesting article on Mr. Nixon's findings from his recent research on this subject. If we wish to live in a less violent society, we need to figure workplace violence into our equation. READ ABOUT THIS HERE Practice non-violence in your lives. ATF Release Gun Trace Data Despite Wall Being Erected by the NRA
2007-08-21 14:45:00
No surprise to me that the National Rifle Association cares more about protecting the rights of lethal weapon (gun) owners than trying to assist law enforcement in their continuing fight against gun violence in our country. Until guns are finally replaced by less than lethal weaponry, we need all the help that we can get to combat death by guns I say! READ ABOUT THIS HERE Practice non-violence in your lives. Arabic Public School Opening Among Protest in New York City
2007-08-21 14:25:00
To me there is a definite reason to protest the opening of this particular school since it seems to me that if a public school is theme-based, it should no longer be qualified as a public school but a private school and thus should not be funded by the United States government OR the state of New York. If the Arab community wishes to fund a school that will have an Arab-based curriculum, then it stands to reason that the Arab community should be obtaining private funding for this school. Guns for Shoes Exchange Nets Over 200 Guns in Central Florida
2007-08-17 14:51:00
Hmmm...Some tools that were invented to end human lives for a pair of coverings that were invented to protect humans' sensitive feet from the elements seems like a fair exchange to ME. Looks like they'll be less gun violence in Orlando, and I'm sure Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and all the rest are quite happy!!!!!!!!!!! ;) READ ABOUT THIS HEREPractice non-violence in your lives. Man and Wife Win $80,000 Lawsuit for Wearing Anti-Bush T-Shirts at Capitol Rally
2007-08-17 14:22:00
Awww...isn't that a shame that the Federal Government didn't like the Ranks' personal opinions of their beloved President while they were peacefully protesting. But the Feds' personal feelings didn't matter at all since the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is still in effect, therefore I can see no reason at all why Mr. and Mrs. Rank WOULDN'T have won this rightful lawsuit that they decided to pursue and I'm happy to report it!!!!!!READ ABOUT THIS HEREPractice non-violence in your lives. Since 1994 Number of Gun Dealers in U.S. Drops Nearly 80%
2007-08-15 19:43:00
And I'm thrilled to say that my beautiful state of California leads our nation in this decrease!!! (-89%). Ok, now that THAT'S done, all we need to do is change the Second Amendment to exclude lethal firearms and only allow less than lethal ones. READ ABOUT THIS HEREPractice non-violence in your lives. City in Alabama Will Vote to End Sales of Alcohol
2007-08-14 12:23:00
While I adamantly oppose the sale of drugs, alcohol and cigarettes to anyone under the age of 18 years old, I believe that we adults should have the freedom of being able to choose whether or not we wish to purchase any and/or ALL of these aforementioned items. After all, a little bit of alcohol helped the world's oldest person Yone Minagawa, who died at age 114 years old today live a long time, didn't it? :) READ ABOUT THIS HEREPractice non-violence in your lives. 9-Year-Old Boy Hero Saves Father's Life by Steering Speeding Truck Off the Road
2007-08-10 14:55:00
Matthew Lovo Jr. is a bonafide hero that any parent would be proud to call their son (I know I would). Also deserving of mention here is Mr. Christopher A. Howard for being the kind of person who gets involved in others' lives when he sees the need to get involved. You know after reading this particular story, I think that parents should teach their children the driving basics at an age that they feel is individually appropriate, however I most certainly do NOT advocate their allowing their children to drive a vehicle until they are an adult. In this way, should an emergency such as this one ever arise when the child is present in the vehicle, the child will be so comfortable behind the wheel, to then be able to take charge of the situation.
