Kucinich: Bush Might be Mentally Ill
2007-10-30 18:17:51
POW, ZOOM, right between the eyes! Kucinich lays it all on the floor, "I seriously believe we have to start asking questions about his mental health," Kucinich, a back-of-the-pack candidate for president, said in an interview with The Inquirer's editorial board. "There's something wrong. He does not seem to understand his words have real impact."
Good observation. Dennis might be onto something here!
Kucinich sums it up nicely by saying, "You cannot be a president of the United States who's wanton in his expression of violence," Kucinich said. "There's a lot of people who need care. He might be one of them. If there isn't something wrong with him, then there's something wrong with us. This, to me, is a very serious question."
So which is it? Who’s crazy, Bush or us?

Rumsfeld Flees France, Fearing Arrest
2007-10-29 23:08:23
Former U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld fled France today fearing arrest over charges of "ordering and authorizing" torture of detainees at both the American-run Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and the U.S. military's detainment facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, unconfirmed reports coming from Paris suggest.
U.S. embassy officials whisked Rumsfeld away yesterday from a breakfast meeting in Paris organized by the Foreign Policy magazine after human rights groups filed a criminal complaint against the man who spearheaded President George W. Bush's "war on terror" for six years.

This could very well be a sign of things to come for Bush and company once his reign of ineptitude has come to an end, and he enters the phase of life called ex-President (or should it be “former un-President?”)
Hopefully justice will be served.

US: Iran Seeks Nukes. It’s a Slam Dunk
2007-10-29 22:43:03
HMMMM, this sounds all too eerily familiar coming from the White House. And we all know what happened last time the White House shared their “assurances” that Saddam had WMD.
The White House warned Monday that there was no doubt that Iran seeks atomic weapons, rebuffing the head of the UN nuclear watchdog agency after he said there was no evidence for such a charge.
"This is a country that is enriching and reprocessing uranium and the reason that one does that is to lead towards a nuclear weapon," spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters.

While beating the war drums against Iran for its nuclear ambitions, Bush went on to offer its support to Egypt, which just announced their plans to build several nuclear facilities, of course for peaceful purposes. Has there ever been a President that has been such a hypocrite in the history of the United States?
Bush and company lied us into a war with Iraq, it sure sounds like he’s doing it again with Iran.

Video to Encourage U.S. Tourism is Actually Part of Canada
2007-10-29 01:16:34
WTF? Why is a video promoting tourism to the U.S. actually showing the Canadian side of Niagara Falls?
Oh, Canada! The USA is closer than ever. The Bush administration appears to have annexed a major Canadian landmark as part of a slick new campaign to promote U.S. tourism and welcome foreign visitors to America.
Backed by a soaring orchestral soundtrack, shots of those attractions are interspersed with the smiling images of people of all creeds and colors. The video, "Welcome: Portraits of America," is to be played at select airports in the United States - starting at Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C., and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston - and at U.S. embassies abroad.
About four minutes into the seven-minute production, viewers are treated to the impressive sight and sound of water roaring over Niagara Falls before the screen shifts to the Lincoln Memorial.
In showing the natural wonder, Disney's filmmakers, however, chose the Horseshoe Falls, ...

Hunter’s pics revive lively Bigfoot debate
2007-10-28 23:34:50
It is furry and walks on all fours.
Beyond that, about the only thing certain about the critter photographed by a hunter's camera is that some people have gotten the notion it could be a Sasquatch, or Bigfoot. Others say it is just a bear with a bad skin infection.
Relax guys, it’s not Bigfoot.
If you remember correctly, VP Dick Cheney is on a hunting trip this weekend, so what was once thought as Bigfoot is probably:
A: Dick communing with nature and shed his clothes to run wild and free with the other animals of the forest.
B: Dick is using a secret service agent disguised as a bear to attract other bears so he can shoot them easier.
Or
C: (Consider this an open thread invitation)

Laura Bush: Hillary Won’t Get My Vote
2007-10-28 18:59:31
In what is probably viewed as the news scoop of the Century by Faux News, Laura Bush said she won’t be voting for Hillary Clinton in next year’s election.
Interviewed on Fox News Sunday, President George W. Bush's wife also dwelt on her higher public profile in campaigning for breast cancer awareness in the Middle East, and against Myanmar's regime.
Leave it to Faux News to dig up the juicy stories that otherwise would be swept under the carpet! Way to go.
She went on to say, "I hope that people will choose the candidate that they think really has the views that they want, you know, that they believe in, and that represent them in the way that they want to be represented."
Laura is just as hypocritical as her Husband, because I don’t remember Bush getting the majority of the popular vote when he ran against Gore in 2000. But I guess it helps when you have a Brother that happens to be Governor of the State that “won” the election for you!
She also sp ...

Bill O’Reilly Needs Some Meds, Quickly
2007-10-27 20:05:09
First it was the coming out of the closet of J.K. Rowling’s character Dumbledore with the revelation that he is gay. Who, other than Bill O’Reilly in the Wide Wide World of Sports gives a shit? Bill, Dumbledore is a fictional character in a book! Get it, F-I-C-T-I-O-N-A-L?
Now he’s on a rampage against Hollywood because to him they are on a "let's make America look bad" binge, because of the newly released film “Rendition,” Calling it a colossal bomb.
Now he’s all over Robert Redford for his film, "Lions for Lambs," of which Variety opines, "Back-bendingly liberal but also deeply patriotic."
According to Bill, these movies are “un-American,” because “there is no question that every time a Redford, Sean Penn, or Barbra Streisand bashes the USA to the overseas press, millions of America-haters rub their hands with glee. Prop up Hugo Chavez, sure. Shake hands with the Iranian fascists, certainly.”

Public Service Warning: Beware of Bathtub Cheese at your local Deli
2007-10-27 18:35:53
MMMM, who doesn’t love a nice chunk of bathtub cheese every now and again?
Personally, just the thought of “bathtub cheese” gives me the heebie-jeebies, but apparently it’s not only illegal to make it let alone sell it!
A Southern California couple is facing criminal charges after allegedly being caught with 375 pounds of “bathtub” cheese at an open-air market in San Bernardino County, the California Department of Food and Agriculture says.
Floribel Hernandez Cuenca, 29, and Manuel Martin Sanchez Garrido, 44, of Montclair, were arrested for selling a variety of unlicensed cheeses to the public. Ms. Cuenca was also arrested on felony cheese making charges.
Felony “cheese making charges?” Who would have thought such a law was on the books!
So before jumping in your shower tonight, make sure you check for cheese leavin’s in the tub, I hear it can cause a very nasty blockage in your pipes!

Must be a Bush Law; if you screw up, you’ll get promoted!
2007-10-27 18:17:16
Just three days after FEMA is outed for a staging a fake press conference, its Director of External Affairs John “Pat” Philbin lands an “amazing opportunity to head the communications shop at ODNI,” according to FEMA’s press secretary Aaron Walker (via email to PRNewser).
The Washington Post confirmed the news through Vance Vines, Spokeswoman at ODNI.
Philbin and Walker were among the staffers asking questions at the press conference which was carried live by the cable networks. The agency quickly apologized.

We must bomb Iran, says US Republican guru
2007-10-27 09:57:04
A senior foreign policy adviser to the Republican frontrunner Rudy Giuliani has urged that Iran be bombed using cruise missiles and "bunker busters" to set back Teheran’s nuclear programme by at least five years.
"None of the alternatives to military action - negotiations, sanctions, provoking an internal insurrection - can possibly work," said Mr. Podhoretz.
"They’re all ways of evading the terrible choice we have to make which is to either let them get the bomb or to bomb them."
"People I’ve talked to have no doubt we could set it back five or 10 years. There are those who believe we can get the underground facilities as well with these highly sophisticated bunker-busting munitions."
Are you feeling all safe and secure yet? Well how about this last piece of information from Daniel Pipes, another of Giuliani’s Neo-Conservative Aides who opposes a Palestinian state and believes America should "inspire fear, not affection."

Wanted: A Few Good Diplomats to Work in Iraq
2007-10-27 09:28:46
The U.S. State Department is facing a staffing shortage, in Iraq. It’s gotten so hard to fill the positions that the State Department isn’t giving employees an opportunity to volunteer anymore; they are drafting their own staff!
Facing staff shortages in Iraq, the U.S. State Department announced on Friday that diplomats would have no choice but to accept one-year postings in the hostile environment or face losing their jobs.
In what is likely to be an unpopular move with staff, State Department human resources director Harry Thomas said about 250 "prime candidates" for vacant Iraqi posts would be notified on Monday of the decision.
He said they would have 10 working days to respond to the demand that they go to Iraq in summer, 2008, and only those with valid reasons such as a medical problem, would be exempt.
Privately, many U.S. diplomats say they fear being posted to Iraq because of the risks of working in a war zone. In addition, it is an "unaccompanied" posting, mea ...
