White House Frustrated that UK Not beating War Drums Against Iran
2007-11-11 19:16:38
The Bush administration is losing patience with Gordon Brown over Iran, with senior American diplomats frustrated by his reluctance to declare bluntly that the Islamic state must never be allowed nuclear weapons.
A senior State Department official with close ties to Ms Rice said: "It would be helpful if he took a tougher line in public. We've got to convince Iran that the West will not tolerate them developing nuclear weapons.
"At the moment, I don't think Iran takes the threat seriously. We need Iran, and the rest of the world, to realize that this is not just a bunch of crazy Americans on the one side and flaky Europeans on the other - that we are united on this one."

“Crazy Americans?” It’s more like it should be “Crazy Bush.”
The only one beating the war drum is Bush, because he’s a “go it alone” kinda guy.

McCain’s Mom: Mormons Bad, My Son Good
2007-11-11 11:44:59
The old adage, “the apple doesn’t fall too from the tree,” must have been written after meeting the McCain family.
John McCain’s “open mouth, insert foot” misspeaking are an inherited trait. Meet Roberta McClain, John’s mother, and apparent speaking protégé.
During an appearance on MSNBC, Roberta McCain laid out why her son, John, deserves to win the Republican presidential nomination. But in evaluating McCain's primary rivals, she criticized Romney's Mormon faith and his time in Salt Lake City.
"As far as the Salt Lake City thing, he's a Mormon and the Mormons of Salt Lake City had caused that scandal. And to clean that up, again, it's not a subject," Roberta McCain said.
John McCain quickly stepped in: "The views of my mothers are not necessarily the views of mine."
"Well, that's my view and you asked me," Roberta answered.
Roberta McCain immediately apologized to her son.
"I didn't mean to say it," she said as the ...

Bush Senior Backs Junior on Iraq War
2007-11-09 08:33:34
"I don't know what they are talking about here. Do they think life would be better in the Middle East if Saddam were still there," Bush senior said in an interview published Friday.
Apparently critics of Bush junior’s handling of the Iraq war are “grossly unfair,” and have forgotten the brutality of former leader Saddam Hussein. Really?
Saddam Hussein was a thug, and a brutal tyrant, no doubt about that. But it’s funny how Bush senior never took him out when the opportunity presented itself. I guess he wasn’t all that bad back then to warrant his being taken out of power.
He used Sarin gas on his own countrymen in 1988. He invaded Iraq’s peaceful neighbor Kuwait in 1990. But back then, on your watch he was tolerable I guess.
Maybe, just maybe Bush senior was smart enough to know that getting involved in Iraq would be a quagmire, and decided against an occupation at that time.
Unfortunately, Bush junior wasn’t that smart, and jumped into t ...

Biased Media Shouldn’t Throw Stones
2007-11-07 18:08:05
The ever so righteous Fox News network has thrown down the gauntlet by accusing MSNBC of being liberal biased!
Deborah Norville, a guest on Fox News’ Fox & Friends had this to say, "Call me crazy, I majored in journalism, it's why I got into this business in the first point, and no news organization should have a political bent. It should be, 'just the facts ma'am' and let the viewers decide."
I’ll agree that MSNBC tends to lean towards the left, but who in the hell does Faux News think they are by criticizing them? Faux News hosts kooks like O’Reilly and Hannity who are so right leaning they need a cane to walk upright!
Faux News is in no position to accuse another network of political bias. I guess it’s true that you can’t see the shit pile when you are standing in it!

Cheney Impeachment Hearings to be Scheduled Immediately
2007-11-07 17:36:30
In an email sent to his constituents today, Rep. Robert Wexler is taking the next step to getting Vice President Cheney to answer for his actions.
Wexler, a member of the House Judiciary Committee is calling for the committee "to schedule impeachment hearings immediately and not let this issue languish as it has over the last six months."...
Following is the full text of his letter:
As a person who supports holding this Administration accountable for their deceptive actions, you may be interested to know about the recent votes in the House regarding H.Res. 333, "Impeaching Richard B. Cheney, Vice President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors."
I share your belief that Vice President Cheney must answer for his deceptive actions in office, particularly with regard to the preparations for the Iraq war and the revelation of the identity of covert agent Valerie Plame Wilson as part of political retribution against her husband. That is why I voted against the motion to ...

Tourist Guide to Baghdad’s Green Zone is Finally Available!
2007-11-06 23:54:04
After years of listening to politicians claim how safe Iraq is nowadays, a tourist guide has been published for tourists, by tourists. Oh, happy day!
All sarcasm aside, the authors provide a glimpse of the buildings and their history which is fascinating.
If one does feel the need to actually travel to Baghdad for themselves, the warnings on page 3 should be enough to change your mind. Unless of course you’re a US diplomat forced to due time by your bosses.

The Presidency is now a Criminal Conspiracy
2007-11-06 10:13:51
“We’re Americans sir, and we’re better than that. We’re better than you.”
This was from Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment on Torture which aired last night on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann.
Once again his comment about Bush’s lies, half truths, doublespeak and his Administration’s atrocities reach down one’s throat and gives the soul a squeeze.
Keith has been saying about Bush and his Administration what Congress needs to say, but doesn’t have the spine to.
All one has to do is listen to his words, or read the transcript, and one is forced to ask themselves, “Why is Bush still President? And “Where the hell is Congress?” But the question that gnaws at the conscience the most is “How can we the people allow this to happen?”
Keith is right when he states “We’re Americans, and we’re better than that. We’re better than you.”

State Department Needs a New PR Person to Pitch Iraq Postings
2007-11-06 08:54:29
"There are all kinds of opportunities here," said Patricia Butenis, the deputy chief of the US mission.
"There are people who think we live under a constant barrage of mortar attacks, but it isn't that way all the time."
Butenis said the opportunities for diplomats in Iraq are not being communicated "well enough" back home.
"I think some of it is based on not knowing what it is to be here. It's true, two days after I got here we had 36 EFP (explosively-formed penetrators) strikes," she said.
"That was serious, it's scary. But you adapt, you get used to it."
“You get used to it,” and “Opportunities” is all the State Department has to lure diplomats to serve in Iraq? Notice how Patricia neglected to mention what exactly the “opportunities” that existed in Iraq were?

George H.W. Bush: I get my News from Faux News
2007-11-04 11:32:28
George Herbert Walker Bush sums up his education level with one sentence, “I used to pick up that paper, and turn on the Fox and listen to the news, and say ‘listen to this, look at this so-and-so, why’s he saying that?’ I don’t do that anymore.”
Bush Senior was doing an interview on Fox News’ new series called “American Leaders” Sunday when he divulged his favorite source for news of the world.
I’m almost certain that all televisions in the White House are tuned to Faux News then the knobs are ripped off, and the remotes securely locked away in Cheney’s office safe. How else could this Administration go through their daily routines feeling like they are an efficient team? If your only source of news happens to be deeply slanted, as is Faux News, then you can consider yourself brainwashed.
In another tidbit of information spewed by the former President, he gleefully warns of another wave of Bushes that may enter publi ...

Bush Dares Congress: “You Must Impeach Me.”
2007-11-03 18:47:31
President Bush compared Congress' Democratic leaders Thursday to people who ignored the rise of Lenin and Hitler early in the last century, saying "the world paid a terrible price" then and risks similar consequences for inaction today.
This statement from President Bush is probably the wisest thing he has ever said! I personally agree with this statement 100%. The people that stood by and allowed Hitler and Lenin to become out of control power hungry Dictators did the rest of the world a huge injustice. And as Bush says, Congress is doing the same.
For 7 years, Bush has been getting his way, and Congress has idly stood by.
We must make sure history does not repeat itself, Bush says it himself. Bush and Cheney must be impeached before another Hitler or Lenin emerges.

Secrecy Threatens Historical Record
2007-11-01 20:58:54
Broad classification restrictions on the disclosure of historical intelligence information are making it difficult or impossible to accurately represent the record of U.S. foreign policy, an official advisory committee warned in a report to the Secretary of State last summer.
By law, the Department of State is obliged to publish "a thorough, accurate and reliable documentary record" of United States foreign policy in its official Foreign Relations of the United States series.
But due to official secrecy, "the credibility of the series... remains in the balance," according to the newly disclosed report of the State Department's Advisory Committee on Historical Diplomatic Documentation.

Bush Administration can’t force Diplomats to Serve in Iraq
2007-11-01 20:30:45
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is trying to quell a revolt among U.S. diplomats angry over attempts to force Foreign Service officers to work in Iraq or face dismissal.
That’s strange; I wonder why diplomats don’t want to go to Iraq to serve their country?
Aren’t the Iraqi’s welcoming the Americans with open arms and showering them with rose petals as President Bush and the rest of his cronies promised before the invasion?
Rice plans to send a cable to all U.S. embassies and missions abroad explaining the decision to launch the largest diplomatic call-up since Vietnam, following a contentious town hall meeting on Wednesday where angry diplomats raised deep concern about the "potential death sentence" of being ordered to work in Iraq, the State Department said.
Rice, who did not attend the meeting, was also making clear in the cable that foreign service officers have an obligation to uphold the oaths they took to carry out the policies of the government a ...

Another one? Another “I’m not Gay” Gay Republican Representative busted!
2007-10-31 19:58:29
Just when you thought the Larry “Wide Stance” Craig issue was old news, along comes another Republican politician caught in an uncompromising situation. And yes, he too claims he’s not gay either!
Richard Curtis, a Republican state legislator who repeatedly voted against gay rights measures resigned his seat Wednesday amid revelations he had sex with a man he met at an erotic video store while in Spokane on a GOP retreat.
Curtis was among state GOP lawmakers in Spokane Oct. 24-26 for a retreat to discuss the upcoming legislative session. He went to the Hollywood Erotic Boutique early on Oct. 26 and met Cody M.Castagna, who accompanied him to the hotel, police documents said.
The two arrived at the hotel around 3:30 a.m. and had sex, after which Curtis fell asleep, according to documents released Tuesday.
Curtis alleged Castagna took his wallet and later offered to return it for $1,000. Curtis said he only had $200 and left an envelope with the money at the hotel ...

Consumer Safety Not Important. Catering to Big Business and Corporations are
2007-10-30 20:39:53
Like we need to be told this again? The Bush Administrations doesn’t give a damn about you, me, or our neighbors. Not unless we are CEO’s of multi-million dollar corporations or have an oil rig or two in our back yards. We the People don’t matter to Bush and his cronies.
Question. Who, if any chairman or chairwoman of a Government Agency, has written to Congress and asked them to “not approve” legislation that would increase their agency’s authority, and double its budget and increase its staff?
Nancy A. Nord, The nation’s top official for consumer product safety. That’s who!
In what is nothing short of a slap in the face to American consumers, Ms. Ward has basically told us all to go f_ _k ourselves, in typical “loyal Bushie” fashion I might add.
Ms. Nord’s opposition to important elements of the legislation is consistent with the broadly deregulatory approach of the Bush administration over the last seven years. In ...

Former Bush Mouthpiece says People Ought to Learn from Fox News
2007-10-30 19:28:31
One mouthpiece strokes another mouthpiece for President Bush.
According to former White House spokesman Tony Snow, critics of Fox News would be better off "learning" from the controversial 24-hour news network than sniping at it.
"There's perceived bias on the part of Fox because they don't treat conservatives as knuckle-dragging morons....I think the rap on Fox having a bias is an unfair one," Snow reportedly said. "My sense is rather than grousing with a winning formula, people ought to learn from them."
What a load of crap! Mind you considering the source and who he’s talking about, would you expect anything else?
Tony Snow saying that Fox News is impartial and un-biased is the same as a Tobacco company executive saying that cigarettes aren’t deadly and they are as healthy as Gummi-Bears!
