Thompson Warns of Welfare State
2007-12-02 15:35:01
This one gets filed in the “WTF is he talking about” file!
Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson said Saturday that election of a Democrat to the White House in 2008 would open the way for a welfare state where bigger government, higher taxes and defense cutbacks sap the country's economic and military strength.
"Our country is at a crossroads," Thompson told several hundred people at a rally at a community clubhouse.
"We know that the most liberal element of the Democratic Party has taken control of the Democratic Party, and if they win this next election we're going to go down the road of a welfare state," he said.
After warning of a government that gets "bigger and bigger," he said "I don't think the American people are going to turn the keys to this country over to the most left-wing part of a left-wing party next year."
"We've got to make sure that doesn't happen," he said.
Sure Fred, whatever you say! He’s warning of a welfare state if the D ...

Bush: Bomb Iran and face impeachment
2007-11-30 23:03:17
Sen. Joe Biden, the loquacious long-shot Democratic presidential candidate, warned President Bush Thursday that he would move for impeachment if the president unilaterally authorized a military strike against Iran.
IF? You mean Bush hasn’t done enough harm to this country and the Constitution that only now impeachment awaits him if and only if he bombs Iran? Spare me the rhetoric Joe!
“Elect me; I’ll impeach Bush and Cheney.” “Once we’re in power, we’ll stop the war in Iraq.” “Impeachment is on the table.” “Impeachment is off the table.” The words just keep coming and coming, because that’s all they are, words.
I find it disturbing that “impeachment” threats are being bandied about as election promises, especially when that promise has a string attached to it.
Why is it only OK to impeach the President after he bombs Iran? Isn’t lying the country into an illegal war with Iraq enough? Isn ...

Punishment, FEMA Style
2007-11-30 20:10:16
Nothing, absolutely nothing surprises me with the Bush Administration anymore. It seems everybody from the top down is guilty of questionable conduct unbecoming of a Government employee.
It’s become quite obvious that one can do no wrong if you work for this Administration. If you screw up, you don’t get punished, you get promoted! That’s the way it’s done in this Administration!
We all make mistakes, its human nature. But when one makes a mistake, one also has to suffer the consequences of their actions. Its how one learns to not make the same mistake again.
Once again we’ve been forced to see how people are punished for their actions when they screw up. Lying to and deceiving the public are grounds for a promotion if you work for FEMA, as was proven when two people who took part in the sham press conference received promotions today.
"After our item, and an investigation of what Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff called 'one of the dumbest ...

George W. Bush's Resume

Saw this over at Soul’s uncomfortably numb, and felt it needed to be shared.

Palau Hands Down Harsh Penalty for Illegal Shark Finning
2007-11-24 16:51:23
Taiwan fishing boat captain Tsai Wuen Teng will spend 32 days in jail for attempt to bribe officials over an illegal shark finning case in Palau. The remainder of his two year sentence is suspended.
Tsai must also pay a civil penalty of $160,000; $20,000 in cost recovery to Palau's Marine Enforcement Bureau; forfeit $5,643 in fish sales monies and forfeit his fishing equipment of hooks, lines and leaders after being caught with 650 shark fins, 94 shark bodies and ten shark heads on August 15.
He has also been fined $1000 and will have to forfeit the $2,392 he offered in an attempted bribe of Marine Law Enforcement Officer Earl Benhart.
$185,000 in fines and penalties, plus the loss of his fishing equipment and 32 days in jail just to provide illegal fins for soup. I hope Mr. Teng’s conviction will serve as a warning to other illegal finners that their time is coming.
As Mr. Teng sits in a squalid jail cell for 32 days in shame, lets hope he uses his time to reflect on his a ...

Another deadly toy that needs to be recalled
2007-11-23 20:40:48
Of all the dangerous and deadly toys that have come out of China lately, there is one more that needs to be added to the list. The 12” talking Donald Rumsfeld doll!
This toy is dangerous because it spouts bits of 28 of the former Defense Secretary’s news conferences!
I can’t imagine who in their right mind would want one of these miniature lying machines, when all one has to do is turn on Fox News instead!

To be blunt, some people need to be called out and embarrassed
2007-11-23 17:56:04
If this disgusting public display ever happened in front of me, I’d probably end up in jail!
Injured soldiers who lost their limbs fighting for their country have been driven from a swimming pool training session by jeering members of the public.
The men, injured during tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, were taking part in a rehabilitation session at a leisure centre, when two women demanded they be removed from the pool. They claimed that the soldiers "hadn't paid" and might scare the children.
The unpleasant scenes broke out at Leatherhead Leisure Centre in Surrey when the wounded veterans, who are at Headley Court Military Hospital, had to use the 25-metre public pool because the hydro-pool at the defense rehabilitation centre is not big enough for swimming.
The servicemen were about to begin their weekly swimming therapy in closed-off lanes when they were verbally abused by the swimmers.
One woman in her 30s was said to be infuriated by the lane closures saying the soldier ...

Gonzo Heckled During Speech
2007-11-20 18:50:36
Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales endured screams of “criminal” and “liar” during a speech at the University of Florida on Monday evening.
About 730 students and community members heard Gonzales defended his career as White House counsel and head of the Justice Department and give his views on immigration and the fight against terrorism.”
“No one is perfect. What is important is that we identify our mistakes and correct them,” he said.
I wonder when Gonzo will realize that he will always be remembered as the AG who turned his back on the Constitution. He is a liar and a criminal, and will always be remembered as such.
What’s even more of a crime is that somebody actually PAID this moron to give a speech! He sure didn’t have very much to say during the hearing into the firing of the U.S. Attorneys, so why would people think he has something to say now?
Abu should crawl back under the rock of obscurity and realize that he ...

Insult to injury as wounded soldiers asked to return signing bonuses
2007-11-20 17:44:59
This latest report makes my stomach turn. It embarrasses me, and then it infuriates me, until finally I throw up in disgust.
The U.S. Military is demanding that thousands of wounded service personnel give back signing bonuses because they are unable to serve out their commitments.
To get people to sign up, the military gives enlistment bonuses up to $30,000 in some cases.
Now men and women who have lost arms, legs, eyesight, hearing and can no longer serve are being ordered to pay some of that money back.
So remind me again, who exactly isn’t supporting our troops?
President Bush, you’re an embarrassment to this country.

Merry Christmas Mr. Bush. It’s the Constitution
2007-11-18 18:54:19
If President Bush had been nice this year, maybe Santa would have left some Reindeer poo in his stocking. But poor George has been naughty, so Santa has decided to give him something he really really needs. A copy of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Maybe this gift will remind George of the promise he made, to uphold the Constitution of the United States.
Feel like Santa this year and want to give George a copy of the Constitution too? Click here. It won’t cost you a penny!

Japanese Whaling Mentality Finally Explained. They are Idiots!
2007-11-15 20:24:05
I have asked and I have received an answer! They are idiots! How do I know this? Read on.
Japan wants Australia to help protect its whaling fleet from what it calls "environmental terrorism" as it kills humpbacks in the Southern Ocean this summer.
Japan wants Australia to protect its whaling fleet during its illegal whale hunt! Right!
Isn’t this the same as letting a convicted bank robber work at a bank? A convicted car thief work as a parking valet? A convicted shoplifter working as a store security guard? A convicted pedophile working at a children’s daycare? A convicted rapist working at a shelter for battered women?
It’s time for Japan to get a grip and realize they are alone in their illegal whale killing excursions every year. What happens in international waters to their fleet is their own responsibility.
Maybe, just maybe they should realize that if their fleet stayed in port, they wouldn’t have to worry about what might happen on the high seas duri ...

House Passes $50B Iraq Withdrawal Bill
2007-11-14 22:52:13
House Democrats pushed through a $50 billion bill for the Iraq war Wednesday night that would require President Bush to start bringing troops home in coming weeks with a goal of ending combat by December 2008.
Does this sound familiar? Let me refresh your memory if you’ve forgotten the routine.
1. Bush asks for $X billion to fund the war in Iraq.
2. Congress passes a bill for a portion of what Bush asks for funding the war, with stipulations of a troop withdrawal.
3. Bush vetoes the bill when it hits his desk, saying that any stipulation of a troop withdrawal in Iraq is unacceptable.
4. Congress whines and moans about the veto.
5. Congress gives Bush the original amount he asked for in the first place.
This is just another of the same old song and dance from congress. They talk tough, but when it comes down to it, it just ends up being all talk.
I’m tired and bored of this “same old same old” stuff.
It’s time long over due for Pelosi to either take ...

Will Migaloo be hunted?
2007-11-14 22:19:41
Migaloo the Albino humpback whale could very well be on Japan’s hunt list this year.
As I’ve pointed out many times before, I’m having a hard time getting my head around the Japanese mentality of their so called “scientific whaling” program.
This year the Japanese whale poaching fleet will hunt almost 1000 whales. Among these 1000 whales will be 50 humpbacks. Migaloo is a humpback, a very rare humpback.
When the Japan Fisheries Agency was asked if Migaloo and other white whales were on the hunted list, they replied with a “no comment.”
As we all know nowadays, “no comment” usually means “we did, and we don’t want to talk about it, so piss off.”
One of four things can happen during this year’s “whaling hunt”. The first one being the best outcome.
1. Japan renounces all whaling activities, and finally adheres to international law.
2. Japan still continues to illegally hunt whales, but publicly ...

Blackwater, to Fight Drugs in America
2007-11-13 20:32:17
Blackwater, the disgraced private security contractor gets tossed out of Iraq for illegal, excessive use of force and finds a new job fighting a different kind of war, drugs in America.
Yup, the Pentagon is considering giving Blackwater Worldwide Security a $15 billion contract to provide ‘antidrug training missions’ over five years to fight a narcotics trade that the government says finances terrorist groups.
How does this piece of information wind your watch? The war on terror comes to America in the form of a security contractor booted out of a country because of gross negligence, and instead of being disciplined, they up being rewarded with consideration for a fat government contract!
Same old tired song and dance coming from the Bushies. Nobody ever gets fired for doing an exceptionally shitty job, only promoted!
So in other words a once petty possession misdemeanor could now get you killed in this country!
Goodbye freedom, hello Blackwater.

Which politician do voters want to see nude?
2007-11-12 14:02:04
Yeesh, just the thought of this question makes me nauseas!
Apparently voters in Australia have nothing better to think about other than which of their elected officials they would like to see nude.
The results of their poll are irrelevant, but let’s just say anybody who wants to see a 50 year old politician naked needs a hobby!
If any body called me asking to take part in a national poll where the question asked is “who would you most like to see naked, Bush, Cheney, Pelosi, etc. etc?” I’d hang myself with the phone cord!
