SPECIAL COMMENT by Keith Olbermann: Bush Puts Telecoms Ahead Of American Citizens
2008-02-03 13:05:46
Pres. Bush demands a law which would clear phone giants from responsibility for government’s unjustified and illegal spying on Americans If you like Keith Olberman you will like his latest Special Comment In a Presidency of hypocrisy; an Administration of exploitation; a labyrinth of leadership, in which every vital fact is a puzzle inside a riddle wrapped in an enigma hidden under a claim of executive privilege supervised by an idiot, this one, is surprisingly easy. President Bush has put protecting the Telecom giants from the laws ahead of protecting you from the terrorists. It’s bad enough, Sir, that you are demanding an ex post facto law which would clear the phone giants from responsibility for their systematic, aggressive, and blatant collaboration with your illegal and unjustified spying on Americans, under the flimsy guise of looking for any terrorists stupid enough to make a collect call or send a mass e-mail. If you, Sir, are asking Congress, and us, to join you ...

In this Tuesdays primary, as a registered Republican here in California, I am only allowed to vote for a Republican candidate. I some of my other posts below I explain why I will not vote for John “Bush on Steroids” McCain or Mitt “Slick Used Car Salesman” Romney. That only leaves Ron Paul and he will get my vote on Tuesday. However, come November, I will be able to vote for the Democratic candidate. The question is which one will be on the ticket. After 12 years of a Bush and 8 years of a Clinton I hope Barack Obama makes it in the end. Now on to the real purpose of this post. I would like you to watch this video about Obama. It is not a official campaign video but a new video put together by popular entertainers on behalf of Barack Obama. This video has appearances from Scarlett Johansson, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Adam Rodriquez, Amber Valetta and Nick Cannon. Enjoy the Video…. ABC News has some ...
Petraeus: I Need Another Friedman Unit To Determine Whether ‘We’ve Reached A Turning Point’
2008-02-02 17:27:32
In the past few months, conservatives such as Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Joe Lieberman (I-CT) have been quick to declare victory in Iraq. In November, McCain said that “we’ve succeeded militarily.” A day later, Lieberman declared that “we are winning” because “we have made progress” in “one of the most remarkable turnarounds in modern military history.” Gen. David Petraeus, however, appeared on NBC this morning and rebutted the declarations of mission accomplished and said that he’ll need at least another Friedman Unit before he can make a judgment: We think we won’t know that we’ve reached a turning point until we’re six months past it. We have repeatedly said that there ARE no lights at the end of the tunnel that we’re seeing. We’re certainly not dancing in the end zone or anything like that. These six months appear to be never-ending, and are used by the right wing to constantly beg more ti ...
Truth was first US casualty in Iraq war…
2008-01-24 19:25:33
President Bush and 7 top members of his Administration made at least 935 false and misleading statements in the 2 years after 9-11 in order to justify their illegal invasion of Iraq. We have known for some time that the Bush administration methodically and repeatedly told blatant lies about the National Security threat posed by Saddam Hussein in order to gain national and world support for invading a sovereign nation that was no threat to the United States. This carefully coordinated campaign was the underpinning of the Bush administrations entire case for war. Now, after an comprehensive analysis of pre-war rhetoric and exhaustive examination of the facts by the Fund for Independence in Journalism and the Center for Public Integrity the true scope of this administrations deception, illicit behavior and complete disdain for the American people is again on view. You can view the entire report, called False Pretenses, HERE In short, the Bush administration led the nation to war on the ...

So Many Candidates, So Little Choice? - Update
2008-01-22 16:18:36
Since my last post on this subject on December 8th several states have had their presidential caucus/primaries. There have been several more debates in which to listen to the candidates. And several have bid farewell to their run for president. Lets start with who has dropped out of the race… Joe Biden One of my choices Chris Dodd Another one of my choices Bill Richardson He gave it a good go but never caught on Duncan Hunter Who was he? Tom Tancredo Another who was he? Fred Thompson His heart was never in it. Reminds me of Dopey or Sleepy of the 7 dwarfs. You can expect Rudy “The boy who cries wolf” Giuliani to be dropping out at any time (I hope) as even Ron Paul is beating the crap out of him. That leaves us the following for the Republicans… Mike “The Preacher” Huckabee Do we really need a holy roller running this country? John “Bush on Steroids” McCain This guy is too old and sounds like he is suffering from the early stages ...

My picks for the biggest assholes of 2007 by Bill Maher George Bush Come on, no list of assholes and fuck-ups could be complete without the Dipshit in Chief. Who will tell this president what everyone but him already knows? The theory of evolution. And the times tables. And where the sun goes at night. And that Iraq is going to be three different countries. And that everyone hates us and we’ve run our military into the ground and the Taliban is back and we still haven’t caught bin Laden and the economy is tanking and we wasted eight years blowing the oil companies while the Earth is melting. We had a pretty nice house when this Cat in the Hat of presidents came in and made the mess of all time. And who’s going to clean it all up — Rudy Giuliani? Thanks Senator Feinstein For Giving Us Michael Mukasey
2007-12-18 17:37:42
Is anyone really surprised that Mukasey is trying to delay congressional inquiries into the CIA’s destruction of interrogation videotapes? Or that the DOJ is trying to get U.S. District Judge Henry H. Kennedy to “stay out of the matter” Mukasey is nothing more than another Alberto Gonzales, but this time, with some intelligence. Back in November I wrote 2 articles, Senator Dianne Feinstein Caves In To Bush and Senator Dianne Feinstein Failed Us!, concerning Senator Dianne Feinstein capitulating to the Bush Administration and warning that the ethics, principles, and values of the DOJ under Michael Mukasey would be no different than under Alberto Gonzales. His approval by the Senate Judiciary Committee is due solely because you abandoned your constituents, the people of California, to support him along with Senator Schumer from New York. I sent you emails imploring you to reject the nomination of Mukasey, and your response? Dear Mr. S……..: Thank you for w ...
So Many Candidates, So Little Choice?
2007-12-08 01:21:44
Below are the 16 candidates we have to choose from for our next president, with links to their respective web sites. Sixteen of them, and so little to choose from. So lets have a go at choosing the best candidate (in my opinion) to lead our country for the next 4 years. The current slate of candidates for the Republican presidential nomination are among the sorriest in American history. So lets start with the Republicans. If you are one of the 28% of voters that still think George W. Bush is gods gift to America then any of the Republicans, except Ron Paul, should fill the ticket. Any of them are as eminently unqualified and incompetent as the current President is. If you are looking for someone who has a good chance of actually being worse than George Bush then stick to Rudy Giuliani or Fred Thompson. I actually like Ron Paul. He has true Republican values and a strong belief in what America should stand for at home and abroad. He is also the only Republican anti-war candida ...

Perino Defends Bush’s Lie: ‘The President Was Being Truthful!’ During the White House press briefing today, Press Secretary Dana Perino attempted to defend President Bush’s lie about when he first learned that Iran had halted its nuclear weapons program.Story Here CIA Destroyed Interrogation Tapes Of Terror Suspects The videotapes showed agency operatives in 2002 subjecting terror suspects — including Abu Zubaydah, the first detainee in C.I.A. custody — to severe interrogation techniques. The President of the United States is lying to the American People - Again
2007-12-05 18:50:26
Yesterday in his press conference, President Bush asserted that Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell told him: “we have new information” on Iran’s nuclear program, but “he did not tell me what the information was.” BUSH: I was made aware of the NIE last week. In August, I think it was John — Mike McConnell came in and said, We have some new information. He didn’t tell me what the information was. He did tell me it was going to take a while to analyze. Later, when a reporter followed-up on this statement, Bush asserted no one ever told him to stop ratcheting up the rhetoric against Iran: REPORTER: Are you saying at no point while the rhetoric was escalating, as World War III was making it into conversation — at no point, nobody from your intelligence team or your administration was saying, Maybe you want to back it down a little bit? BUSH: No — I’ve never — nobody ever told me that. This morning, the cast of Morning Joe (Joe Scarborough) chided Bush ...

Send Bush An Early Holiday Gift, Courtesy of CCR
2007-11-19 09:47:39
The President needs to be reminded that he swore an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States-his administration has been systematically destroying the Constitution since he took office. With your help, CCR will flood the Oval Office with copies of the Constitution this holiday season. If you sign this letter, CCR will send it along with a copy of the Constitution to the White House as a seasonal reminder that the Constitution needs to be upheld ; not destroyed. We hope to send President Bush more than 25,000 copies of the Constitution by January 2008. Dear President Bush: Enclosed please find a copy of the U.S. Constitution. I wish you’d make some time in your busy schedule to read it. I would have hoped that you’d be pretty familiar with it already, because you have at least three times in your life taken a solemn oath to uphold, protect and defend it, but all the signs indicate that you either don’t know what’s in it, or you don’t care. “Flawed Bush Policy Wrapped in Illusion”: Rep. John P. Murtha
2007-11-18 09:42:21
Two Years after Calling for a Redeployment of U.S. Forces from Iraq — President Bush Refuses to Provide the American People with a Responsible Exit Strategy (Washington D.C.)- Tomorrow marks the two year anniversary of Congressman John P. Murtha’s, Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, public call for the redeployment of U.S. forces from Iraq. The following is an issued statement From Congressman John P. Murtha, Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense: Two years ago, I was convinced that the President’s lack of strategy in Iraq was harming our military, our international credibility, and the strength of our nation. “Two years later, the President remains without a plan and I remain convinced that we must begin an orderly redeployment of U.S. forces from Iraq as soon as practicable. “All Americans want stability in the Middle East. But while our military is bogged down in Iraq, instability is spreading throughout the region. Pakist ...

What can $611 billion buy?
2007-11-12 21:34:31
From: The Boston Globe If the Bush administration succeeds in its latest request for funding for the war in Iraq, the total cost would rise to $611.5 billion, according to the National Priorities Project, a nonprofit research group. Almost 18 months’ worth of free gas for everyone US drivers consume approximately 384.7 million gallons of gasoline a day. Retail prices averaged $3.00 a gallon in early November. Breaking it down, $611 billion could buy gasoline for everybody in the United States, for about 530 days. Many, many environment-friendly cars on the road With $611 billion, you could convert all cars in America to run on ethanol nine times over. The Budget Graph estimates that converting the 136,568,083 registered cars in the United States to ethanol (conversion kits at $500) would cost $68.2 billion. Nearly 14 million years’ worth of tuition, room, and board at Harvard At published rates for this year, $611 billion translates into almost 14 million free rides for a year at H ...
