Strummin’ on the Old Banjo
2007-10-18 19:09:04
My son loves music. In fact, he loves “playing guitar” (you know, when they don’t actually have one, but they do that thing with their hands?) whenever he hears music, which is all the time in our house. And he didn’t stop “playing” when we were at my grandmother’s house last weekend either. I get the hint. His babysitter has a guitar and a set of bongo’s that he loves to play with when he is over there. It’s a fight to try and get him off of them. He also keep asking for one every time we go to Target.
So I want to get him a guitar he can play with whenever he wants. I found one for about 20$ at B&N that would be nice for him and it wouldn’t be a total loss if he went out and busted it in one way or another. My grandmother told me I should nurture this interest. Fine. No problem. Music is fine. He can like it all he wants. But the support stops at drums. At least until we get a home where he can play somewhere I ...

I’m Getting Old
2007-10-16 12:06:58
My birthday was last Friday. I didn’t do much either. I actually slept almost all day since the boys weren’t there to bounce around the bed trying to wake me up. The hubby took the day off so he got Mini Buff dressed and went to his brothers for the day. Made me a very happy mommy. I also went to visit my grandmother for the weekend, which was my mom’s birthday present to me. The visit was great and it went alright until it was time to put the baby to bed. But I guess the whole being in a new place was part of the problem. He did eventually go to sleep though which was nice. And I got to watch Blood+ which was great because I knew the hubby didn’t record it like I asked him to. All in all it was a semi-decent weekend. At least I got to see my grandmother which I am very happy about. I just hope it won’t be another year before I can visit her again. Especially since we have a brand new car.

MomAgenda
2007-10-13 22:55:50
I got my MomAgenda desk calendar the other day and I have to say that I have found it extremely useful. As we all know, agenda’s and calendars are meant to keep us as organized as possible. But this one likes to keep me extra organized. It has some nice features in it as well. It has pages that are good for party-planning, vacation planning, and of course the calendar itself. What I like most about the calendar is that it’s sectioned off so it allows you to keep your dates and your children’s dates separate, but everything is on the same page. You can also write your kids names in the boxes given so that they each have their little sections for their individual dates and events. In my old book everything got cluttered and squashed together, but this way, I can be more organized and my dates and events are more readable. Another neat feature is the lists of websites and phone numbers that are (possibly) essential to a mommy’s everyday need. It could also be a gr ...

Imperfection at it’s Finest
2007-10-11 13:45:28
I’m not perfect. Come to think of it, who is? I don’t know one mother (or woman) who keeps a spotless home, other then my grandmother. So when I ran across a website with the motto “Life isn’t perfect, and neither am I. That’s just how it is.“, I jumped at reading (almost) all she had to say. Finally! Another person who thinks housework sucks just as much as I do.
The site really is interesting to read. It’s another view on what it’s like to live in chaos and have complete control. What I like most about her is that she is a mother of four, and hasn’t lost her sanity. That’s something that I could never do. Even one is to much to handle. But I guess that’s how boys are. She has a lot of product reviews which are always interesting. I’m always looking for new toys to mess with. And she holds blog contests & giveaways every now and then which everyone (including me) likes to participate in. I like getting new and ni ...

All New Internet
2007-10-08 01:10:07
Yes. Broadband. Not much difference from AOL in my opinion. It’s just as slow, if not slower. But at least my domain email is working with Outlook now. That makes me happy. But installing it caused all the images in all my browsers to become, what’s the word…compressed! And I’m very pissed off about that. If there was a way I could fix it, then fine, no problem. But I have tried everything I can think of from emptying the cache and cookies to restarting the computer. Nothing works. So I have to live with it. I swear, every time my husband comes within an inch of my computer, something breaks. But at least I’m not stuck with AOL anymore. But I’m starting to prefer it to this…just a little…
edit: Yay I fixed the compressed image issue. I’m happy now.

Babysitter Memo Tile
2007-10-06 00:00:11
We all go out for a night together with our husbands and/or wives. If you have children, that means leaving them with a babysitter or some form of trusted adult. And with that comes the task of leaving emergency information for said “guardian” in case they need to reach you at some point for whatever reason. That’s where the Babysitter Memo Tile from PlaceTile Designs comes in. It’s outfitted for filling out just the right information you need to give such as hospital and doctor’s phone numbers, allergies and medication for the children and of course the number(s) in which you can be reached. And with it’s erasable black marker and surface, it can be used more then one or twice.
Not only is it compact, but it’s elegant and with it’s 7 inch all around square shape, it can be placed just about anywhere such as on a mantle, a shelf, a table or on a counter. It’s soft yellow color can match any decor as well, making it a perfect orname ...

Fashion At Your Fingertips
2007-10-05 23:26:52
I’m always looking for something new and cute to wear. Especially when it comes to clothes. My mom takes me out to the stores every once in a while and I find all kinds of nifty stuff I’d like to buy and wear. I’m bent on looking the best I can while I’m still wrinkle-free. When I do shop though, I like to surf around the net or flip through the t.v. channels first to see what’s out there before I go out and find whatever. So when I landed on Tobi while putzing around the internet, I found all kinds of nice things right off the bat. They’re new in the online boutique scene and they sure have a lot to offer. They have some really nice vince sweaters. I am always looking for something like these. I absolutely love them. And only owning two pairs of jeans, I found their paige jeans to be something I’d like to try. I especially love the designs they have on the back pockets. Pretty butt cheeks are always a plus for me. They have lots for men as well. I think my hubby would ...

The Baby Hatch
2007-10-02 23:17:34
A hospital in Japan has adopted a method of saving babies from being left alone to die or murdered by mothers and/or parents that don’t want or can’t take care of them. It’s called a Baby Hatch. It apparently received a lot of static from the Japanese people. It’s described as this:
It is accessible outside through a door, which the parents can open to be able to pace the baby on a small specialized bed that maintains the same conditions as an incubator does. The hospital staff is alerted by an alarm and a surveillance camera pointed at the baby’s bed automatically starts capturing images once the door of the hatch is opened.
~Geisha Blog
Now, I think hospitals here should do the same. We’re all sick of hearing about babies thrown into dumpsters or killed by teenage mothers and such. I personally think it’s a great idea and if it saves a baby, awesome! What do you think?

Good To The Last Drop
2007-10-02 17:32:02
I’m a big coffee drinker. I have a cup every morning to wake me up, or else I can’t wake up or function (pretty sad, eh?). Sometimes I’ll go for two or three cups. If I’m in the mood for it, I’ll even drive all the way out to Barnes & Noble (an hour away) just to get a cup of Hazelnut Cappacino (sp?) from their Starbucks cafe.
So when I saw that Folgers was giving away free samples of some gourmet blends, I just had to jump on the bandwagon and sign myself up to get some. I’m sure my husband will tear through the bag faster then I will. He drinks coffee at night. *cringe*If you’re interested in getting a free sample bag of coffee, then head on over to the website and fill out the form. There are four or five kinds to choose from, so I am sure you’ll see something you’d like.

P4O: Pink for October
2007-10-01 12:50:23
Well, I didn’t finish my own P4O layout in time, so I am jumping on the bandwagon and using a premade that I snatched from Scribblescratch. I wanted to show my support somehow other then donating to the cause (which I have done). So, enjoy the new look for this month. Because it’s back to the old one in November.

Linky Love Meme
2007-09-30 15:30:27
I found this meme over at NikkiJo’s blog and thought I would give it a shot. I’m always looking for ways to give linky love to blogs and people I think could use it and that I think are cool. And I guess this meme could be another way to do so. It’s kind of like a link train. But it allows you to subscribe to their feeds as well as check out their sites. You can even participate yourselves. (more…)

Race The Day Away
2007-09-28 00:22:25
We bought Mini Buff the Cars video game for PS2 and he loves it. We play a little bit during each day, but I’m the one who does most of the playing (or Big Buff if he is home). But if he thinks he can do it himself, he’ll yell “I see! I see!” then grab it away and start pressing buttons in hopes that the “Ween” on the t.v. moves. I have to admit though, he is pretty good at it, especially for his age. He’s gotten the hang of how to move the cars pretty well even though he forgets sometimes. But if you show him what buttons to push, he’s ok. I’m hesitant about letting him play Soul Calibur only because I am trying to raise him on learning not to use weapons or fight. Maybe when he’s a lot older, I will allow him to play it as long as he understands that it’s not something that should be imitated in real life.
But our little guy is a fast learner. And that is very good. He’s actually been that way since he was old e ...
