Paris or Nicole?
2007-06-11 22:15:00
Since Paris Hilton is all over the news these days, why don't we join the bandwagon and have some senseless fun by taking a quiz? Look at what I got! :DAre You Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie? Paris HiltonYou know you can get any guy you want and you love to flaunt your beauty.. You also think everything is hot!Take The Quiz Now!Quizzes by myYearbook.comI saw reruns of their show The Simple Life on Prime last week and I must admit, I'd rather be Paris than be Nicole. I think Paris is the lesser evil of the two. :P ...

Erin was about to take her first dose of the rotavirus vaccine when J noticed the super tiny sticker on the box.Refrigerate. Do not freeze!Oh dear... the vaccine had already spent a week in the freezer and it was only now that we discovered that it wasn't supposed to be stored there. I texted my good friend Lam who's a chemist by profession and she said that it is not safe to administer the vaccine anymore because the vial may have cracked and the vaccine might be contaminated already. *sigh* That's one hundred bucks down the drain. :(So who's fault was it? The chemist who did not have the time to explain to us these precautions; the manufacturer who can't even place a big sticker in bright colors so we could see the note; or 'careless' us? Oh well, it's pointless and too late to argue now. But really, everyone involved has got a lesson to learn here. Now we have to go back to our GP to get another prescription for the vaccine and buy a new dose. Erin needs to be vaccinated by t ...

Erin's baptism and more...
2007-05-29 19:20:00
Last Saturday's mass turned out to be quite nerve-wracking for all of us because we had to bring Erin along with us as she was going to be presented to the parishioners and welcomed into the Catholic community. It was a very cold night and we were afraid that Erin might feel uncomfortable and end up crying the whole time in church. Good thing her aunt J was there to help us make her go to sleep while the presentation was going on.It was a full house at the Holy Family Church at Gowrie because some kids were also having their first communion that night. Good thing we were able to get some seats. And since the church was fully packed, there were lots of people who came to bless Erin as she was being presented. As in, pila talaga! :D***Erin officially became a Catholic last Sunday, the 27th of May. She was exactly ten weeks old. There were three other kids who were also scheduled to be baptised that day. And out of all of them, Erin was the loudest! Hay naku, of all the time in the world ...

Good on ya!

We can now say goodbye to those pesky telemarketers. Finally! :D Being a stay-at-home mom, I have been a victim of unwanted telemarketing several times already. It's so frustrating because sometimes I find myself politely entertaining all their questions. At the end of each sales pitch though, I feel guilty because I let them ramble on with their marketing BS when all they'll ever get is a "No, I'm not interested." reply from me. Tsk. Tsk. I should learn to say no immediately. :PI'm glad the government did something about it. There is actually a Do Not Call Register Act 2006 that protects the consumer from receiving these unsolicited telemarketing calls.Telemarketing calls will not be permitted after 8 pm on weekdays, with research calls not permitted after 8.30 pm on weekdays. No calls covered by the standard will be permitted before 9 am on any day, after 5 pm on Saturdays or at any time on Sundays or national public holidays. You can register all your home and mobile numbers here ...

The Abandoned
2007-05-21 21:04:00
It fills me with disgust whenever I hear news about abandoned babies. The latest of these is the abandonment of Baby Catherine, who was left in a cardboard fruit box outside Dandenong Hospital on Mother's Day (of all days!). The poor infant was found blue and was suffering from hypothermia.Speaking of abandonment, my mom recalled an incident in Manila and told us that Baby Catherine was better off than this other baby. It turns out the infant was found in a toilet bowl in the comfort room of a major fast food chain. Apparently, the parent wanted to desperately get rid of the child, he/she was hoping the baby would be flushed down the dirty toilet. Buti na lang, the baby survived after being rushed immediately to a nearby hospital. When I was still single, I have always been pro-life and am very against abortion and abandonment. Now that I am a mother myself, I feel more strongly about it. For the life of me, I cannot imagine leaving your newborn child out in the cold, knowing full well ...
