Getting ready for the take-off
2007-09-20 06:53:27
It’s been busy busy days lately, trying to get everything ready for my holiday in London. Yes, it is happening and it is starting on Sunday It will be my third time in London, but it’s gonna be my first time as a 100% tourist, since I’d usually go there as 50% tourist and 50% student. As I can’t have a 2-week break from work in this time of the year, I thought it better to just relax and have fun and I really really hope that this will happen. Apart from the zero commitments, this holiday will also have a few other new things for me: I’m going to reach London with a low-cost flight, which will take me to Stansted airport (never been here before… always landed in Heathrow), therefore I’ll have to catch a train to reach the centre of London and I’ve never been on English railway trains before, just underground trains. The train will stop in Liverpool Station, where I’ll get connected to the Tube lines and reach my hotel in a few sto ...

Music Video Code by Video Code Zone She calls me from the cold Just when I was low, feeling short of stable And all that she intends And all she keeps inside, isn’t on the label She says she’s ashamed And she can take me for a while And can I be a friend, we’ll forget the past But maybe I’m not able And I break at the bend We’re here and now, but will we ever be again ‘Cause I have found All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade Away again She dreams a champagne dream Strawberry surprise, pink linen and white paper Lavender and cream Fields of butterflies, reality escapes her She says that love is for fools that fall behind And I’m somewhere in between I never really know A killer from a savior ‘Til I break at the bend We’re here and now, but will we ever be again ‘Cause I have found All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade Away again It’s too far away for me to hold It’s too fa ...
Seen on tv
2007-08-22 09:00:24
TV = movies and concerts. I’d go home, have a shower, change my clothes and then have a quick look at the tv guide and choose my entertainment program for the night. Last night I picked the movie according to the actors starring in it: “With Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst it shouldn’t be a bad film”, I thought, so I watched Elizabethtown. Comments… hmmm, not sure actually. I recommend it because I wouldn’t miss the chance of watching Orlando, but the plot? Double hmmm… not a blockbuster, I’d say. The landscape was worth looking at though, esp. since Kentucky and surrounding areas are not places often represented in films, in my experience at least. But the night before I had a good laugh watching Garfield 2! I knew I would enjoy it because I liked the first installment and because I like Garfield cartoons, but watching the animated character and listening to him speak (and FART! and BURP!), well that was another story! Very funny indee ...

End of holidays depression

ueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee *that’s me crying* Whenever it comes to the last day of holidays I turn into a primary school child who doesn’t want to go to class the next day. Translated it means, I don’t want to go to work tomorrow. ueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee *that’s more of my crying* So anyway, tomorrow morning I’ll be clocking in a bit later than usual since I’ve got a medical appointment at 9am, therefore I’ll be able to reach my desk not earlier than 11.30, I suppose. Now I keep thinking that I should have taken a two-week holiday… or three-week… or a month… or I’m not even bothering going back… I win the lottery and that’s it Being still hot and having nothing better to do, last night I forced myself into watching the whole “Doctor Zhivago” movie. Hmmm, not my genre, I must say. The film was good, the actors very skilled and the plot was shocking (speaking of the historical background and n ...
The first half of the holiday
2007-08-15 10:38:00
Third day of my summer holidays from work and everything is fine. Well, a bit too hot weather-wise, but I’m coping well… and I don’t sweat too much, which is good (spending days getting sticky to the desk is not something I enjoy). So far I’ve been a good girl and I’ve been going jogging every morning at the local park. For the first time I’ve been witnessing how it feels having this huge park all to myself, since nearly nobody was there: just me and a few old people walking their dogs. I’ve been thinking how good it must be being one of those people who is not forced to wake up at 6am every morning to go to work and instead being able to start their day with some jogging and maybe after that a good breakfast at the bar nearby. That must be really awesome. But not for me. My alarm clock goes off Mon-Fri at 6.13am. Those 13 minutes are definitely very important. So what happened to my holidays plans? Well, that’s a long story, but I&rsquo ...

UPDATE: Aug. 07, 2007 - 02.15am - finished reading the last book of Harry Potter’s adventures. … of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I’m very close to the end now, which gives me a mixed feeling of excitement and sadness. I’m excited about reading of the last duel between Harry and Voldemort: up to now, he’s already escaped the Dark Wizard twice and if it wasn’t for the hundreds of pages left, I would have thought that was it. But I’m also really sad because I know it’s going to be the last book. Once I turn the last page there will be no more. I strongly doubt I’ll get as much affectionate to this book as to any other Still my friend let slip that there is an open final, so who knows if Ms. Rowling is going to write about Harry again? I can only hope… At least there are two more films left. ...
Hangover & working
2007-08-02 08:06:51
Last night I went out dining with my workmates and as usual we had fun… and as usual I drank too much, so today I feel hangover and tired but still I am at work. When I woke up this morning I was feeling really crappy but now, after lunch, I feel better but still looking forward to a good nap. Here’s a photo taken by my colleague while I was playing around with another mate’s cell phone. ...

Here’s a good one: bat hunting!
2007-07-31 11:33:30
Last year if someone told me that a bat had entered my house, I would have thought: “Ok, it might happen”. Nowadays if someone tells me I’ve got a bat in my house, I would reply: “You must be joking! What? Has the bat perforated the net screens?”. Screens that we have just mounted and that costed me a nearly new vacuum cleaner… what a minute, have I already said that?? Case 3: if someone tells me “You’ve got a bat in your house”, I would now think they are high on drugs. Case 3 is more or less what I thought when father told me there was a bat in our house yesterday morning, except of course I substituted the word drug with “hallucination” or “not completely awake” or “medicines not working right”. But I’m sort of glad to report that he was right. SORT OF. Last night, after having celebrated Tom’s 2nd birthday, we came back home to Mr. Bat flying in circles in the hall. Now don’ ...

- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Amazon hasn’t delivered it yet. I’m one week behind compared to the rest of the world. Had I faith in the new bookstore round the corner where I live, I would have already read the book… twice. I keep avoiding news and website with spoilers - vacuum cleaner: not delivered yet. It’s more than two weeks since I sent it to be repaired and I have no news so far. Meanwhile my house is turning into a deathly crap-hollow - so to say, in HP words - holidays: not booked yet. Canada has been postponed to some other time because I hadn’t enough time to prepare everything and my passport has expired. I’m going to England instead. But I haven’t booked anything and I’m leaving in about two weeks. Ah, life! ...
No pics for this post
2007-07-25 15:28:18
I’ve noticed that my last posts are flooded with photos (or the blog entry is a photo itself…) so I’ve decided not to post any pic today, even though my camera is loaded with images that are desperately begging to be published on this site. Most of these photos were taken last Sunday when my family and relatives celebrated my nephew’s 10th birthday. We all went to the countryside and had lunch together. If it wasn’t for the heat the day, would have been much better. As a matter of fact, the table we were sitting at was so long that people sitting at one end were enjoying a cool breeze, while people sitting at the opposite end had big drops of sweat running down their face, and their neck, and their back… well, you get the idea. Of course I was in the latter group and I couldn’t stretch my legs too far or move the chair too closer to the aisle without risking a major ustion. The smell of burnt flesh was a good indicator of when it was high tim ...

One fish… dead
2007-07-15 05:59:25
Remember that nice orange&purple fish that was peacefully swimming on my wardrobe a few weeks ago? Well, this is what’s left of it: Little Tom spent Saturday morning with me, playing at my house, while his parents were busy doing stuff in town, and of course they wouldn’t have accomplished not even 1/4 of the things they did with Tom around, so he stayed with me and we had fun He had fun. Because killing my little fish in 1000000 pieces is not that amusing to me. And not even spraying my Just moisturing cream on the floor is that funny. Especially when auntie has to clean it up. But once I managed to make him wear shoes we went downstairs in the backyard and we started running around and playing more actively. Being in a very Harry Potter mood, I showed him how witches fly on brooms, and then we played some soccer. He then turned in the busiest little kid when he spotted some pegs and started building the crown he usually makes with the peg basket, that he adjusted to ...
I don’t like spiders… have I already said that?
2007-07-09 01:45:29
A few nights ago I was getting ready to go to bed, feeling all relaxed after a good movie on tv and already enjoying the thought of reading a few pages of the book I’m currently re-reading (getting ready for #7 soon!), when something caught my eye: there were little legs coming out from under my pillow. I was sort of petrified. I stayed there motionless for a few seconds, pondering what I should do, then I carefully lifted the pillow and found an enormous spider lingering there. Hmmm… the spider didn’t move and that was a good sign. On a closer look I sort of recognized that spider and comforted by the thought that it was one of Giņ’s fake spiders I shook the bedclothes just to make sure it wasn’t going to actually crawl on my body once I was in bed. It didn’t move. Blood started flowing at normal speed now. I was safe. But my nephew was not. ...
In my head right now #6
2007-07-05 01:43:43
The song that has become little little Sam’s favourite lullaby of mine… When I was just a little girl I asked my mother, what will I be? Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here’s what she said to me Que sera sera Whatever will be, will be The future’s not ours to see Que sera sera What will be, will be When I was just a child in school I asked my teacher, what should I try? Should I paint pictures? Should I sing songs? This was her wise reply Que sera sera Whatever will be, will be The future’s not ours to see Que sera sera What will be, will be When I grew up and fell in love I asked my sweetheart, what lies ahead? Will we have rainbows day after day? guess what my sweetheart said Que sera sera Whatever will be, will be The future’s not ours to see Que sera sera What will be, will be Now I have children of my own They ask their mother what will I be? Will I be handsome? Will I be rich? I tell them tenderly Que sera sera Whatever will be, will ...
