"Japanese whale fishing is completely lawful. And is completely scientific." says daisk5
2008-02-05 21:17:00
This joker who calls himself "daisk5" left the following comment out of the blue on my post on "Random New Year's Resolutions":Japanese whale fishing is completely lawful. And is completely scientific. In addition, it is a Japanese gastronomic culture to eat whales. You should refrain from the act of denying the culture of another country.watch this video. To the person who wants to know why Japan hunts whales http://au.youtube.com/XXXXXXX[DragonBall] Freezer VS Japanese whalinghttp://au.youtube.com/XXXXXXXX http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ap_0uUICejnG3TGasvh8ePvsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080204060044AAgG9CyWhy do the media of australia tell a lie and censorship?if doubt me? Post my comment this URL.http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23155612-5007146,00.html And I thought I was going to blog about some frivolous issue like eyelash perming. But his comment stirred me up and I shall now rebutt his poor arguments for whale hunting by the Japanese. A post on eyelash perming would hav ...
The 2008 Summer of Tennis
2008-01-19 23:39:00
I'm all caught up in the Australian Open fever yet again! In the spirit of the "Summer of Tennis" in Australia, here's Novak Djokovic doing impressions of other tennis players. Very funny.More impressions! *chuckles* ...
The bimbo transformation
2008-01-19 01:31:00
I am such a bimbo. There. I said it. I have not been so excited in a long time when collecting a package. The face and eye masks I ordered from Sasa in Hong Kong arrived yesterday. Took it home, ripped the package open and closely examined the boxes. I can't wait to try them out tonight. Not only is this bimbo transformation internal, but somehow external as well. Was chatting to a few co-workers at lunch the other day. Somehow the fact that I have a Physics degree came up. And all were so surprised. Apparently I don't look like someone with a Physics degree. Which I suppose is fair enough because I fudged my way through the uni exams and assignments. Hehe. I was extremely glad when I completed that degree and could finally move on from deriving equations to describe anti-particles that travel back in time to more sensible engineering units. At the moment, I'm window shopping at Sasa.com for my next purchase while watching the freaky-armed Federer in the Australian Open. The bimbo tra ...
Let me shine for You
2008-01-06 01:41:00
I've finally figured out my resolution mission for 2008. A line from Paul Morrison's Find Me Here from the Riverview's And Sing album really got to me this morning."Let me shine for You; I want to live my life as an anthem of Your praise."It was Carly Fiorina who wrote about a coaster her mum gave her. On the coaster, it says "What you are is God’s gift to you. What you make of yourself is your gift to God".So after being all cynical and nonchalent about New Year's resolutions in my previous post, I've decided to succumb to peer pressure. I've decided that in 2008, my resolution mission is to shine for Him.A steep mountain to climb? Perhaps. But with a little courage and a lot of faith, I'm sure I can make it to the top. ...
Random New Year's Resolutions
2007-12-27 23:12:00
I missed my bus stop this morning! I was daydreaming about snorkeling with dolphins. By the time I realised that I was supposed to get off the bus, the driver was already heading towards the busport. #$*$*&@$"*$*@$@!# A new year is almost upon us. I was asked on FB about my new year's resolution. I'm not sure about this tradition of making new year resolutions. Why only at new year's? Why not in May? Or September? Or whenever? I suppose being humans we all look for significance in everything. New year = new beginnings, a fresh start in life. *roll eyes* I am in a cynical mood today. Why? Because I'm trapped in the office without my Heroes Season 2 CD which my brother burnt for me. I thought I left it in the office but it's not here. Such a blonde I am. First the bus incident, then the Heroes 2 CD. Ok, I suppose for 2008, I RESOLVE to be less of a scatterbrain.Oh, I finally learnt how to use the internet from my mobile phone. It is seriously addictive. I had to muster all my d ...
Peace on Earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconcile
2007-12-19 17:54:00
I love the Christmas season. Especially in the office. We put up decorations in our little "pod" (section of 4 workspaces) yesterday and it's looking awesome. Sloppy but awesome. And everyone's so casual and happy. Even the constant silly Jingle Bell tune brings a grin, not a grimace, to my face. The Christmas spirit is indeed wonderful. I'm a little disappointed that the choir is not involved in this year's Christmas production at Riverview. I had a huge blast singing those Christmas carols last year. Oh well, maybe next year!Have a great Christmas everyone. And Happy New Year!! ...

Back to reality!
2007-12-17 00:21:00
I can't believe 3 weeks came and went by so fast! Brisbane/Gold Coast was amazing but catching up with old friends in Singapore and KL was really awesome. Of course I went to HK and shopped as well but let's not talk about my gi-normous credit card bill. *blush*The first part of the trip was quite frankly tiring. I can't imagine how people like those flight attendants survive the frequent travelling. At the end of November/beginning of December, I actually spent 5 nights in 5 different beds! Thursday (29 Nov) night in Gold Coast International, Friday night at home in Perth, Saturday night in Robertson Quay Hotel in Singapore, Sunday night in SC's place, then Monday night in Hong Kong! I was quite literally bed-hopping.I still can't believe the sheer number of things to eat in Singapore and Malaysia. The moment I stepped off the plane, I was confronted with so many restaurant choices! Chinese? Japanese? American? Thai? Local?? GAH. I was like a wide-eyed 4-year-old in Disneyland fo ...
It's the journey, not the destination
2007-11-27 04:18:00
You meet more people when travelling alone. People are more willing to strike up a conversation with you when you're alone. On the train to Gold Coast from Brisbane on Sunday, I sat behind a very unusual family. There were five children, whose ages range approximately from 11 down to 2. And their parents, I would say, are at the most in their early thirties. They don't look affluent and honestly, if I were to just judge them by their looks, I would immediately assume they were uneducated and unrefined. This family really taught me the value of not judging a book by its cover. Their children were the most well-behaved children I've ever seen. Can you imagine raising 5 children, let alone disciplining them in a manner that resulted in great behaviour? All the children listened to mum and dad. The toddler was not making a big ruckus and the rest sat quietly in their seat and picked up their toys when told. I was amazed. That's not the end of it. At my destination, the family and I had c ...
My Brisbane and Gold Coast experience so far
2007-11-25 04:36:00
Queensland ROCKS!I'm currently in Surfers Paradise and I tell you, it's the best place to visit. EVER! Even with the schoolies season in full swing. For those who aren't Aussies, schoolies season happens every year for about 3-4 weeks starting mid-November. It's when the Gold Coast is swarmed with armies of school leavers who just finnished their high school exams, just itching to get drunk and have sex. Serious. So I was apprehensive about coming here in the middle of schoolies season. I mean who in their right mind organises an international conference during schoolies season. Definitely not the best way to impress the interstate and international visitors! But after being in Surfers for 7 hours, it's not too bad. You get a lot of screams, wolf whistles, hollers and in general white noise. But the schoolies typically keep to themselves. Which is good news for me.Anyway, back to the start. I was in Brisbane from Friday till Sunday. The first thing that struck me about Brisbane was ...
And Sing - A new album from Riverview
2007-11-20 18:37:00
I am so proud to be in the Riverview Worship Team. Riverview's just released it's latest album "And Sing" and it's the most awesome album ever! The proudest moment is when The Bert went "I thought these few songs were from Hillsong. You mean someone from Riverview wrote it?"Brings a tear to my eye. *sniff*Check out songs from the album at http://www.virb.com/riverview/. Listen to Send Down Your Rain. It's my personal favourite, written by Mark Cullen who's now leading our American campus in Orange County. Buy them from iTunes or on the Riverview Church website! We have some great talents in the Team. Paul Morrison, the Worship Team Leader, just won West Australia Music Industry Association's 2007 Gospel Song of the Year for "My Hallelujah". It's such a beautiful song.Sometimes I wonderHow I ended up hereCoz I'm still just a boyIn these oversized shoesAnd I've nothing to sayThat won't add to the noiseAnd nothing's been saidAnd not much to giveBut a few simple truthsThis is my ...
Vove and K-Three-G
2007-11-17 05:55:00
Here's my baby! The Bert was cruising around in a Porsche charity event when someone snapped a picture of her with the gorgeous North Fremantle beach in the background. Licence plate has been changed though. On a different note, I permed my hair at K-Three-G on William Street, Northbridge. I've been looking around for a hair salon in Perth and have decided to take a risk with K-Three-G. And it's paid off. Love their work. Love their service. And better still, it's at a reasonable price. I paid $120 for a digital perm.I went in two Fridays ago. As usual, my stubborn hair refused to curl after the perm. Even though it wasn't his fault, the stylist apologised profusely! He asked me, through his interpreter, to come back so he could fix my hair at no charge. So I went back on Sunday and he was awesome.Love my curls now and I hope it holds for longer than the last time I did it. So if you are looking for a good stylist in Perth, head to K-Three-G on William Street, Northbridge. Ask for ...
Perils of a shared fridge
2007-11-11 18:31:00
I hate it when someone takes food that doesn't belong to him/her from a shared fridge.   My colleague had her yoghurt taken from the fridge a couple of weeks ago. I was just thinking, who does idiotic things like taking someone else's yoghurt from the fridge? Imagine the state of mind he/she must have been in:   - Opens fridge - Spies yoghurt - Thinks "Ooo... I feel like having a yoghurt right now" - Takes yoghurt   What kind of grown up must he/she be to not be able to control his/her urges to must have yoghurt right there and then?   Wait a minute... Isn't this also known as.... *gasp* STEALING??? Well, let's see. The online Oxford dictionary defines to "steal" as to:   take (something) without permission or legal right and without intending to return it   The whole incident ruined my colleague's day. It would ruin mine too. ...
Justin brings sexy back!
2007-11-10 00:14:00
I never thought I'd say this.Justin Timberlake is really really really talented. He can sing. He can dance hot sexy moves. And as I found out last night at his FutureSex/Love Sound concert, he can play the piano AND the guitar. That boy played the piano and guitar for at least half of his FutureSex/Love Sound concert yesterday at the Burswood Dome yesterday. The other half of the time, he's showing us his cool sexy moves. It was hot.All the girls wanted to be with him. Micro mini skirts, plunging blinged necklines and sky-high heels. Did they think he was going to notice them and pick them out of the sold out crowd? Maybe in their wildest dreams. And the guys wanted to be like him. *roll eyes* There was this guy who was putting on the moves, complete with spins, knee action and shoulder jerks. The works, which I'm sure was honed from hours of practising infront of JT's MTVs. *shudder* At the end of it, he was sweating more than JT himself! Where do these people come from!Anyway, the ...
Throwing caution to the wind.
2007-11-03 06:48:00
You know that feeling when the enormity of your decision sets in? The moment after you've made that tough decision that you suddenly realise that all the certainty of your career path and any promised promotions have vanish? When that little voice inside your head starts screaming "WHAT THE *%&# HAVE YOU DONE???"That's me. All the pre-planned and well-thought-out paths have gone to the dogs with these three words: "I am interested."These three words would definitely take me down a path that I have always thought I wanted. They will most definitely open new doors, lead to new career plans and exciting paths. But there's still those thoughts nagging at the back of your mind. Hounding you about throwing away planned certainty for chaotic uncertainty. What have I done? ...
