What's better than a trip to the Gold Coast?
2007-11-01 06:37:00
Facebook is taking over my life. I'm placing blame for not updating my blog squarely on Facebook's shoulders. I may soon need to join Facebook Anonymous to cure my addiction.Anyway, I've got the best news ever! I am going to Queensland for a conference!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's better than a trip to the Gold Coast? A FREE trip to the Gold Coast. YEAH!!I'm trying to fit in as much fun as possible around my conference. I arrive in Brisbane on Friday 23 November. I'm thinking of staying at The Hilton Brisbane. I might go to Fraser Island on Saturday and Australia Zoo on Sunday. Then it's off to the Gold Coast on Sunday evening, staying in Gold Coast International Hotel. Conference is from Monday to Wednesday. But I suppose I could fit in a night tour of the glo-worms and Natural Arch on Tuesday. Then on Thursday, I might go kayaking / snorkelling in Gold Coast's crystal clear waters. And shopping on Friday before flying back to Perth on Friday evening. The next day, I'll ...

Would it be wrong to rub a rude uncle's face into my pizza?
2007-10-21 07:16:00
It happened AGAIN! GGGRRRRRRRRRRR....Was at Little Caesar's in Mundaring earlier this evening. By the way, if you're in Perth, you can't leave Perth without trying Little Caesar's pizza. It's divine. Photo by Rodney LooAnyway, we ordered three pizzas - Greek lamb, smoked salmon and chilli prawns. Some idiotic Singaporean who was leaving just stared at my food while he walked past. Some comment like "ah... that must be the seafood one" was made to his other idiotic friend.I'm like... HELLO??? We're invisible is it? Your mother never teach you manners ah? I HATE people who are so obvious about staring at my food and commenting about it. As if I'm not there lo. GGGRRRRRRRR.Felt like rubbing his face into the pizza. Like my "seafood" pizza har? NAH!! EAT LA!!! EAT LA!!! If you want to stare, comment to ME la. Don't act as if I'm invisible! Can't stand rude people. So angry.Related post:Is it ok to talk about a stranger’s food within his/her earshot? ...

Al Gore, my hero!
2007-10-13 04:25:00
I reckon the best thing that ever happened to almost-President Al Gore is losing that election recount to George W. Bush.Instead of moping away his life, Al Gore rallies up the troops to try to save the world by bringing global awareness of climate change. His movie, An Inconvenient Truth, is one of the most inspirational and scary movies I've ever seen.I don't care what all the skeptics out there say about his efforts. The bottom line is he is doing something about it. Now almost everyone knows what global warming is. Awareness is the start. And what are the skeptics doing? Sitting on their asses criticising people who make the effort to actually DO something. I guess actually doing something is too hard for them.Anyway, now I'm so proud to say that Al Gore won this year's Nobel Peace Prize. I am so happy I could cry. I shudder to think what would have happened if Al Gore won the election recount in 2000. He is doing so much more to save humanity that he ever would as the Presiden ...

Will Facebook end blogging as we know it today?
2007-09-28 00:53:00
The more time I spend on Facebook, the less time I spend blogging, working, chatting. It is very addictive.I've trout-slapped, dry-humped and thrown animals at my Facebook friends. I suppose it makes sense to Generation Y. 'Cause it doesn't to me. But it's still fun.I suppose Facebook is addictive simply because an IT-dunce like me can easily customise my profile. I could add all sorts of applications that interest me e.g. music, youtube videos and even my own stripper name. Apparently my stripper name is Jasmine Dazzlehiney. Tell you to truth, I'm a little disappointed with that. I expected more she-bang from my stripper name. Oh well. And best of all Facebook is super interactive. I've scribbled heaps on friend's walls, fed my friends' e-pets and sent virtual gifts. So I suppose "blogging" on Facebook is now the most obvious revolution to blogging on traditional platforms such as Blogger. I don't know the answer to that. But when you find the answer, you'll know where to fin ...

Bow-chicka-wah-wah
2007-09-23 01:38:00
I hate advertisements on TV. I have the channel surfing technique during adverts to a pat. But once in a while, some creative genius comes up with really cool advertisements. The Diet Coke advert with the sexy hunk shown on Australian TV in the mid to late 90s really got me drooling :D The ads are similar to these.Lately I found another favourite advert series. From Lynx comes the bow-chicka-wah-wah ads. Love the universal body language! Keke... ...

My mailbox is in a shambles. The door won’t open or close properly. The top of the mailbox is held in place with two pieces of rope.Time for to search for a new mailbox so I was looking through this website that sells residential mailboxes and commercial mailboxes. This one is my favourite out of all the mailboxes on that website. This way, The Bert can practice his wall plastering and rendering skills. Brought to you by Mailboxixchange.comSynergylyn will be paid $10 for this post ...

Hôtels en Paris
2007-09-09 19:50:00
Bonjour!Cheaperthanhotels now covers hotels in Paris as well. I would love to go to Paris one day. To see The Louvre and of course the gorgeous Eiffel Tower.I would imagine Paris hotels would look rather grand and majestic, much rather like the grand ole’ city itself.Well, maybe one day I’ll find myself learning to pronounce Hôtels en Paris one day. And then I'm ready for gay ole' Paris! Brought to you by Cheaperthanhotels.co.uk Synergylyn will be paid $10 for this post ...

Amazing Grace - tune by unknown
2007-09-04 03:09:00
Amazing Grace… A concept very alien to us humans. Perfectly captured in the story of the prodigal son who was welcomed back with open arms when he returned to the father that he had hurt and betrayed. Never mind what he has done in the past. All his father cared about is that he returned. At the end of a message by Alan Meyer two weekends ago at Riverview Church, he played a video clip about the history of the song “Amazing Grace” by Wintley Phipps. Everyone knows the song “Amazing Grace” and I’ll bet that many would be able to sing the first verse with no trouble at all. But this video touched my heart in so many ways that I can’t even describe.Imagine. I was up on stage with the rest of the worship team ready to sing after the video clip. And I had tears flowing down my cheeks with no tissues! Not a very good look in front of about a thousand people.Watch the video and see for yourself. It’s a rather long video at 8+ minutes but I promise it is worth it. ...

Why is the moon red? Because the sky is blue.
2007-08-28 01:06:00
If someone asks you tonight why is the moon red, you can say because the sky is blue. Serious. When a full lunar eclipse occur like tonight's, the moon will not completely disappear, unlike the sun during a full solar eclipse. Light from the sun is refracted as it passes through our atmosphere. The blue wavelengths are scattered, which is the phenomena that causes our sky to be blue. The redder wavelengths will move onto the moon, causing the moon to appear red.If we're really lucky we'll get to see a blood red moon tonight!Tonight's lunar eclipse will be visible to Australia and Asia. For people in Perth, the moon will rise in the East partially in eclipse at 5:52pm local time. At 6:37pm the moon will be in mid-eclipse and will start to come out of the Earth's shadow at 7:22pm. The eclipse will be over by 9:22pm.Find a spot with an unobstructed view of the Eastern skies and you're all set! Hopefully the gloomy clouds hanging around Perth skies will clear. For the people in Singapor ...

Malaysia - I hate myself for loving you?
2007-08-27 02:16:00
It’s almost Malaysia’s National Day yet again. Time really flies. At this time last year, I was reflecting on my hopes and prayer for my Malaysia.I can’t imagine a place that I hate more. Or a place that I love more. Thinking about the current state of Malaysia and what the future possibly holds breaks my heart. But as much as I hate the state Malaysia is in, I can’t bring myself to pledge my allegiance to another country. Yet.I would be a hypocrite if I claimed I loved my home country unconditionally. Because I don’t. No matter how my heart breaks when I hear more news that would possibly pave the way for the destruction of the Malaysia that I knew and grew up in, I am only reflecting on this from a distant land. Not doing much to help keep her as precious and beautiful as she is in my childhood memories.Perhaps that’s the price to pay for growing up. The loss of innocence. The attainment of knowledge and awareness.Happy Birthday, Malaysia. May you still maintain a sliver ...

The Great Australian Adventure
2007-08-27 01:42:00
I took the Indian Pacific train to Sydney about 7 years ago. The Bert and I splurged on the First Class cabins on the train. Was an awesome 4-day, 3-night adventure.I can’t remember which Sydney Accommodation we stayed in but think it was near the Chinatown. We also stopped in Adelaide for about 2 hours on our way to Sydney. It was a little disappointing as we were driving round the city in the dark. Next time I will probably have to stay in one of those nice Adelaide Hotels near the city. I wonder if the price is comparable to the Perth Hotels.Maybe next year as I am going to Singapore/Malaysia/Hong Kong in December! Woo hoo!Brought to you by CheaperthanHotels.com.auSynergylyn will be paid $10 for this post ...

Green Nazi in the news!
2007-08-16 00:29:00
One of the projects I'm working on was on the news last night. I don't know whether to be overjoyed that I have a very high profile project or to be scared shitless that the water's getting muddier with each pack of mud slung at whoever's within reach. Can't talk about the project even though I'm DYING to say a few choice words to some very stupid mud-slingers. Curse of the Green Nazi, I suppose. Green-tler enforces the Code of Silence very cruelly.Heil Green-tler! ...
