Happy 16th Birthday!
2007-07-28 10:13:00
Todays my 16th birthday. My family's having a good old family barbecue/pool party. I can't wait until everybody comes. Now I don't have any kind acts now, but I predict that I will be thanking people for gifts and giving lots of hugs and kisses. ...

#19 - More Mother Appreciation
2007-07-26 18:49:00
Sometimes you just don't want to do certain things, but most of the time you are forced by your parents. (Basically my Mom because my Dad works all day) One of those things occurred today concerning a summer baseball league. It just so happened that I was on the edge of the age limit, and no one my age was playing. Essentially I was playing with little kids, so after the first game I confronted my Mom. All I said was that I'm playing with little kids, that it's not fun, and I'm already doing baseball camp. To my total surprise she you don't have to do it unless you pay $25 of the $50 joining fee. I happily did, and now I'm out of playing in this league. You may be asking yourself what's so kind about this; well it's what I said after which was... "Thank you for understanding me Mom." I think she was pretty shocked by that too.------------------Did you do any random acts of kindness today? ...
#18 - Admitting a Mistake
2007-07-25 16:31:00
I know that this is definitly something I need to work on. I'm always the first one to point the finger at someone else, so I can get out of a tough situation. (being at the wrong place at the wrong time, even though I didn't do anything wrong) Today I showed improvement in admitting a mistake I made in band lessons. We were all (the other two trumpet players) just playing an easy song and he stopped us. I looked around in surprise because I thought it sounded pretty good. Then he raised his voice (being sarcastic) and said, "Who's playing B naturals, they're supposed to be flats" Everyone went silent, but then I just blurted out that I did it.This is a kind act in its self that I didn't lie, but also because I kind of did lie. In my mind I knew I didn't play the wrong notes, but I figured if nobody was speaking up I better save us all from the whole "It's O.K. to make mistakes" speech. Also, wish me luck in the concert tonight, I have a little solo section.-------------------Di ...
#17 - Friendly Encouragement
2007-07-24 16:53:00
Today was my first day of baseball camp. It's devised of various stations from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM that enhance your skills; then from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM theres a little scrimmage game. After the game theres a camper of the day award, and trivia in which you win a baseball. My kindness was centered around the game. We have some players in our group who don't play in a league, but just do this camp for fun. They ushally get scrutinized for getting out or making an error. I on the other hand kept on saying, "Nice try" or "Get em' next time" I consider this nice, but I could actually see it had an impact. It put a smile on their face, and one even got a hit. Most of the time my action ushally go un-noticed besides people reading this or the person the act of kindness was directed at. This time it was different; this time it got noticed because I was awarded camper of the day.---------------Did you do any random acts of kindness today? ...
#16 - That's Great (or is it)
2007-07-23 17:15:00
Almost all the time after eating dinner at someones house for the first time they will ask you how the food was. You immediately say it was great, or it's was a new twist on an old favorite. Sometimes it's actually not, and this is where I'm confused if what I did today was kind or not.It started out with a little kid trying to play a high not on the trumpet. He said he could play something to me, and I said, "Sure, go ahead." When he finished playing I knew it was bad, but I said, "It was great just practice some more and it will be perfect." I consider this kind because it was just a little kid looking for some more encouragement.Later today, actually only an hour ago. My Mom made beef stew for the first time, and it was kind of bad. Not wanting to shield her, and help her improve it I said, "It needed seasoning and the potatoes were hard."--------------------Did you do any random acts of kindness today; and what is your position on telling people things are bad or good? ...
#15 - The Car Ride
2007-07-22 21:49:00
Car rides can be good or bad, but for me they're usually bad. Especially when you hit traffic, and are going to a place you don't want to be. On Saturday my family drove to Riverhead Long Island to the Jazz Festival where we were meeting up with friends. (it ended up being fun because there was food and games)Well back to the car ride situation... My random acts of kindness weren't actually doing something kind, but what I didn't do. It started with letting my friends get the window seats and me getting the middle. Then not saying anything when they leaned their heads on my shoulder. To top it off, when we were all eating pretzels I didn't comment on theming talking with food in their mouth. All in all it was a horrible car ride, but a fun festival. Not to mention my Mom got sick on the way back. (you can connect the dots)---------------What are some of your long car ride stories, and did you do anything random acts of kindness today? ...
What goes around comes around?
2007-07-20 08:31:00
Yesterday was my second to last week of band camp. Everything went smoothly, but I failed to do something kind during band camp. (still have the rest of the day at home) Then when I was waiting outside for my Mom to pick up I noticed that she was very late. Soon the rest of the people came out, and then the band director came out.He asked if my Mom was coming, and I said yes. (I knew she was coming because I called her, she was just late) What surprised me the most was that even though I said my Mom was coming, he waited their until my Mom showed. This put a smile on my face because I realized that someone had done something really kind for me. Even though I do kind things, I don't really expect karma to come into play. But today it did, and it made me think that maybe someone up their is looking down on me, and seeing what I'm doing.------------------Did you do any random acts of kindness today? ...
#14 - Brush those Teeth
2007-07-19 07:35:00
I was just back from the dentist, and it wasn't very pleasant. No cavity's (thank god), but lots of plaque and tarter build up. I'll tell you the truth now, one thing I'm terrible at is remembering to brush my teeth. Yes, I know, it's really important, but at night I'm too tired, and in the morning I'm too lazy. Now once the dentist told my Mom about this she was a bit worked up. Saying stuff to me like your teeth are important more interviews and what not. This leads into my long lasting act of kindness to myself. Dental Hygiene. I made a promise to my Mom and Dad that I will brush my teeth every morning and night so help me god. It will be hard, but I've done a lot harder things. Wish me luck!-------------Did you do any random acts of kindness today? ...
#13 - What's that note?
2007-07-18 11:14:00
Everyone loves to ask questions. It's just so easy to use someone else's knowledge instead of searching the web or getting a book out. I support asking questions though, it's better then not knowing it at least. Meaning it's more important to have the answer then where you got it from.I'm going to stop rambling on about questions now, and get to the point. I was at band camp (some faithful readers may know I play the trumpet) where I'm the most advanced trumpet player. I play with 2 other girls in my sections, but today they were very annoying. First, they were very talkative and you could they were flirting a bit with me. (wasn't really in the mood, rather do that in town or at a park not before band started) Second, one kept on moving my stand because she forgot hers. Third, they were emptying their spit valves on the floor even though they knew I hated that.I wasn't going to go lash out on these girls I hardly knew though. I don't think I would even lash on some I did know, ...
Spread the Word, Promote Kindness!
2007-07-16 12:52:00
I have made the following buttons and banners for readers to place on there sites if interested. It's just a way to promote this site, and in turn promote kindness. Here's how it works. You place a link, a button, or a banner on your site, and I will place a link to your site on my link bar. It's as simple as that. Here are the codes for the images if you wish to place on your site.Random Acts of KindnessRandom Acts of KindnessPost or email me if you link back. Also, do the same for questions and suggestions. FYI, all these word made by me in Microsoft Paint.-------------As a side note for todays post, my act of kindness was mopping the kitchen floor. After spending some time making these banners, my eyes hurt and I wanted to do something away from the computer. I saw my Mom mopping, and I kindly offered to help. She was pleasantly surprised; especially with her back ache.Did you do any acts of kindness today? ...
#12 - What's the Scoop?
2007-07-16 08:20:00
Going to Dorny Park with a bunch of friends was great. We rode all the roller coasters, and slide down the water slides. Everything during the day went picture perfect; until you have to come home.My Mom always bugs me and asks tons of questions of how everything went. She must know every detail about the trip. I usually shrug her off, and say, "It was fun." I didn't do that this time though. Instead I actually described the whole day. What we had for lunch, the rides, how I liked each ride, and so on.That was my random act of kindness, and I can tell my Mom appreciated it.--------------Did you do any random acts of kindness today? ...
#11 - Gossip Stop Sign
2007-07-15 18:43:00
It's human nature for people to talk to other people. Most of the time it's fun little conversations, but sometimes you hear gossip that you wish you never did. Well today I went to a swim club with my friend and we met up with other people there. We were all having fun; just splashing around and jumping off the high dive. Then one kid left to go show us a trick jump when everyone got into a conversation about how annoying this kid was. I decided that I wasn't going to stand for this (I wouldn't like to be talked about behind my back), so I just said, "I disagree, he's not annoying, sometimes he just does stupid things to try and fit in more."That's was my kind act, but believe it or not some kids supported me. (Guess it turned out better then I expected) Also, I missed a day because I was at a weekend sleep over. Did lot's of kind acts like thank yous and dishes.--------------------Did you do any random acts of kindness today? ...
Your turn Friday!
2007-07-13 05:58:00
Everyone loves Fridays right? No, not the restaurant, but the day. Since Friday is the best day of the week I'd thought I do something a little different.Basically the title says it all. It's my time for a break from writing for a day, and your turn to step it up. So let's here those random acts of kindness.Post a sentence stating your act or post a whole story. It's up to you; just get it out and don't be shy. I know you've all done something kind. ...
