Bak Kut Teh
2007-08-22 23:48:00
And then there is tea in food called Bak Kut Teh.Bak Kut Teh is a Chinese soup popularly served in Malaysia, Singapore and also states of neighbouring countries like Batam of Indonesia and Hat Yai of Thailand. The name literally translates as "pork bone tea", and at its simplest consists of meaty pork ribs in a complex broth of herbs and spices (including star anise, cinnamon, cloves, dang gui and garlic), boiled together with pork bones for hours. However, additional ingredients may include offal, varieties of mushroom, lettuce, and pieces of dried tofu. Light and dark soy sauce are also added to the soup during cooking, with varying amounts depending on the variant. Bak kut teh is usually eaten with rice, and often served with youtiao (strips of fried dough) for dipping into the soup. Soy sauce (usually light soy sauce, but dark soy sauce is also offered sometimes) is preferred as a condiment, with which chopped chilli padi and minced garlic is taken together. Tea Time
2007-08-22 23:28:00
Marilyn Monroe famed amongst other things for her love of Tea once said that, "World Peace would be with us if politicians drank tea at meetings" ? or something to that effect. And she was very true in her words, very true indeed. A cup of Tea does wanders to all that drink it.Did you know that people in Britain and the Republic of Ireland consume the most tea per person in the world? I have an English friend who drank only tea as a beverage rather than water. I always thought it was Japan or China but then their cups are much smaller than our cups! It is also interesting to note that more than 2,000,000,000 cups of tea are drunk every day throughout the world! That is a gigantic amount of cups and I can but imagine how many I contribute to that figure, about one I might guess! In weight terms, that equals out to 2 and a half million tones of Tea being drunk throughout the world every year or from a British point of view just under 6lb's per person per year is consumed! Why do we drink ...

Ratatouille
2007-08-20 05:32:00
I just watched Ratatouille. This is about Remy, a rat, who had the innate ability to smell food. He dreams of being a chef. He is constantly risking life in an expensive French restaurant because of his love of good food, as well as a desire to become a chef. Yet, obviously, this is a rather tough dream for a rat. But opportunity knocks when a young boy, Linguini, who desperately needs to keep his job at the restaurant, despite his lack of cooking abilities, discovers and partners the young Remy. Its up to the two of them to avoid the insane head chef, bring the rest of Remy's family up to his standards, win his partner a girl, and, of course, produce the finest Ratatouille in all of France.By the way, Ratatouille is a traditional French Provençal stewed vegetable dish. The dish, originating in Nice, is fully named ratatouille niçoise.French ratatouille may be served as a meal on its own (accompanied by rice, potatoes, or simple French bread), or as a side dish. Tomatoes are a key ...

Kites
2007-08-18 00:14:00
A friend was telling me that he and his friends went for kite flying a few days ago because of celebrating and being happy. I thought that was a nice thing to do and I am happy now that he shared that happy experience with me.Although I lived in a country where kites are common enough, as we have the traditional Malaysian Wau (view pictures on the right) here, I don't ever remember flying any kites in my childhood nor any now. I am sure that this is a really fun and wholesome activity that I have somehow missed. ...

Changed Perspective
2007-08-15 02:44:00
Imagine you are at an Airport. While you're waiting for your flight, you notice a kiosk selling cookies. You buy a box, put them in your traveling bag and then you patiently search for an available seat so you can sit down and enjoy your cookies. Finally, you find a seatnext to a gentleman. You reach down into your traveling bag and pull out your box of cookies. As you do so, you notice that the gentleman starts watching you intensely. He stares as you open the box and his eyes follow your hand as you pick up the cookie and bring it to your mouth. Just then he reaches over and takes one of your cookies from the box, and eats it! You're more than a little surprised at this. Actually, you're at a loss for words. Not only does he take one cookie, but also he alternates with you. For every one cookie you take, he takes one. Now, what's your immediate impression of this guy? Crazy? Greedy? He's got some nerve? Can you imagine the words you might use to describe this man to your associate ...

Awana Kijal, Terengganu
2007-08-12 07:30:00
I had a really nice holiday with my family at Awana Kijal, Terengganu recently. About a week ago. Just didn't get to write and post about it. It is the quiet and peaceful kind of a vacation that I needed badly away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life. Although it was a short 3 days 2 nights kind of a stay but I felt refreshed after the rest. The waves at the east coast is bigger than the west coast, say, Port Dickson. So I enjoyed jumping up and down while shouting with glee like a little girl when the tall waves hit me. I was playing in the water the whole day with my siblings and hubby! Yipee!I was cycling along the beach with hubby and sister + her hubby too. Alas, I didn't bring my camera along and didn't get those photos. Boo-hoo-hoo...Sad. That was really fun even though the bicycles were not in so good condition. We tried those tandem bicycles. There is also a giant chess board. Life size. Need to pick up chess pieces and walk around the board to place them.Really nic ...

Pulau Ketam
2007-08-10 04:08:00
Yesterday I went for a short trip to Pulau Ketam with my family members. Pulau Ketam, literally translated, means "crab island". It is a small island located off the coast of Klang. The island is easily accessible from the Port Klang jetty by ferry. The "floating houses" that come to view as visitors approach the island is a sight to awe any city slickers. Perching casually on long wooden stilts, these dwellings are suspended about one to ten (1-10) metre above sea level. I didn't realize that there are air-conditioned boats nowadays! The boat fare is RM 6 per person one way. Mom and brother bought some dried seafood from these stalls pictured above. We went there a little late, so we only managed to take seafood lunch there and it is time to return. The last boat back was at 5.45pm. If we miss that, we would need to stay overnight there. ...

Alternative Life-Styles—Does God Approve?
2007-08-03 00:28:00
“WHEN will I know my sexual preference?” So wrote a 13-year-old girl to a teenage advice column. Her question echoes the attitude of many who feel that people are free to pursue any sexual life-style they choose. Some people may genuinely struggle with confusion regarding their sexual feelings. Others openly embrace alternative life-styles such as homosexuality. Still others boldly act and dress as one of the opposite sex. Some undergo sex-change operations. There are even individuals who argue that adults should be allowed to have carnal relations with children. Are sexual practices and gender really a matter of personal choice? What does God’s Word have to say on these issues?“Male and Female He Created Them”According to the Bible book of Genesis, God himself created the differences between males and females. The record states: “God proceeded to create the man in his image . . . Male and female he created them. Further, God blessed them and God said to them: ‘Be fruitful ...

I exchanged my Motorola Razr to this sleek Sony Ericsson. It is rather easy to use with cyber shot camera incorporated. Nice! I was so happy with Motorola's photo/picture quality. When I transfer the pictures to online, it is small and not clear. Sony also has the Blog It feature because it is powered by Googles.
