"would it kill ya to comment"
2008-01-26 04:51:00
There is every indication that blogsphere - vibrant and unique community with its own criteria – is gaining greater influence as the number of blogs is exponentially growing and awareness of the form is becoming widespread. One feature that distinguishes weblogs from static websites, making them more interactive, is that they allow instant comments by others. This is a matter of choice for bloggers, though. They can disallow other visitors to comment on weblogs or single entries or can authorize comments for all internet users, for members, or make their blogs as read-only. Generally speaking, comments are what most keep most bloggers (including me) going.Which is why, the reconnaissance of blogsphere reveals that most blogs have the comments option turned on, which permits users to interact with the bloggers and each other at their own pace. Some go a long way to engage others and solicit comments. I have seen permanent banners on many blogs that read, "would it kill ya to comment" o ...

The results are amazing. You could also try amusing and intriguing details about famous people. One of the most interesting thing ...

2008-01-26 02:45:00
The Internet is a newer platform characterised by a large, open, public network where people interact with people from throughout the world without any barriers like geography, culture, age, social class or gender. It is unlike real word where people with their own identities come together face to face. Online, users are a little less perceptive about their identities.Having an identity is not a new concept. Every one is having at least one since the dawn of the civilization; ascribed identity. Anthropologists and sociologist have been discussing different aspects of identity ever since. But identity has never been a general problem until now.Things started changing fast in the Information Age. After the advent of computers and the Internet, the world around us is continually changing. People are evolving newer norms and folkways for conducting themselves in contemporary society. Nicks, handles and URLs are being exchanged and they already have started appearing on visiting cards. The ...

It is very hard to perceive life offline particularly for those who have started taking internet for granted.Like any one else, internet for me has been an easier way to obtain information, work, socialize or spend my leisure time, if I ever have any. It was a shortcut to so many things. Then all of a sudden I am once again thrown into digital Dark Age. This happened when I was assigned a project in an industrial concern near Pattoki. The project site where I am working these days is located only 1.5 kilometres from Karachi-Peshawar National Highway in the rural hinterland of Punjab. It is an industrial hub and the PTCL landlines are there. Pattoki town that has a claim to an international fame due to flower nurseries already can boast of the Internet service. But what surprised me was that it is not possible to connect to internet and go online just about 20 k ...

It is very hard to perceive life offline especially for those who have integrated Internet in their lives and work. The Internet is a shorter route to many things: obtaining information, conducting business, making decisions, socializing or spending leisure time. Researchers are trying to find out Internet's impacts on life on and offline. Celebration of the Internet Free Day or the 20-year net veteran Steve Cisler's expedition to put himself "in other people shoes who are not online" are some cases in point. For generation that is growing up with the Internet, the essence of existence lies in their presence online and being disconnected in their totally connected circle means like living in a digital dark age. 'the village boy'
2008-01-22 02:57:00
I was home (back in my village) this weekend. There are lessons in the first landscapes of every one's life. Mine was a vista of green paddy fields, smoking with Salt Range mist, against a setting of ribbon of River Jhelum which from distance looked like a shore of another land altogether. The rough, rugged hill range appeared uninviting against a sky withering with the morning, interrupted by the dawn's red and blue brush strokes. My first learning in life was also in the village. In villages, people still live without assessable roads or other civic amenities of this modern age. No telephone or the Internet, even the electricity is the recent phenomenon; some are still without it. You see one village and you have seen all. This was the setting where I spent first twenty year of my life savouring the freedom of adulthood. It is where I decided what (and how) I wanted to do with life. It is where my mother, brothers and friends live. It is where I return whenever my active life allows ...
