Old Horsetail Snake
2007-07-17 01:17:20
Gene MaudlinI have often been asked why I blog. After much hemming and hawing, I have to admit that it is because my ego got in the way. I can’t think of a single thing that would have launched me on this career other than self-interest. Today I get 15-30 comments on each post, which is satisfaction aplenty. Once, when my wife died, I ran her obtituary, and that called up 152 hits. I don’t know where they all came from, but it was a nice showing. Then there are two more parts to this. I enjoy humor writing, and try to do some of it. Occasionally I make myself laugh. I guess “rarely” would be a better word, but nevertheless, my funny bone enjoys what I do. Second, I visit most of the bloggers who visit me; more, actually – about 90. Some of them are funny, some informative, and some of them put my butt to sleep. But ALL of them are very nice people, and I never insult them even when they do not particularly interest me.I seem to spend about 3-4 hours a day writing and reading. ...
Grow Your Writing Business
2007-07-16 22:24:00
Yvonne Russell freelance writers who mean businessTo me blogging is about people connections. I am in awe of the potential of the blogosphere for sharing and learning. Blogging crosses borders of age, geography and ethnicity. As some people have observed, blogging is making the earth flat again. It breaks down barriers and promotes communication and understanding.A 15 year old in Finland can help a 73 year old in New Zealand. Someone in London can collaborate on a project with a fellow blogger in Singapore. We talk about the age of information, but its also the age of interactivity both technology wise and conversation wise. Blogging is a catalyst for bringing people together, whether for work or just to share common interests. It can also broaden your horizons and open you to new perspectives.Best of all blogging is interactive, so it stimulates buzz and conversations. My metaphor for blogging is a blog tapestry. Ive written about this and said I love the concep ...

Daddy Papersurfer - Old Git
2007-07-12 07:00:00
Daddy PapersurferAnyone reading this wont know me from Adam. Im the one wearing a small fig leaf. Adam is completely naked. The fig leaf is my avatar - a lovely word, look it up in a dictionary. Its like the shy actor who, when he dons his costume, can perform in public. My son started writing a blog and being a complete pain in the arse, I nagged him into letting me do a guest blog. I had heard of blogging but had never read one and I didnt want to be left out. That was 28th February 2007.By the 10th of April he had had enough of the cuckoo in his nest and he very kindly set me up with my own blog.My first appeared on the 16th of April and Ive posted something everyday since. A blog can be used to vent, relieve and assess [and loads of other things as well, but Im trying to finish this before lunch!].The angst ridden teenager who writes in her padlocked pink diary about her latest crush and would actually like her secret lover to find it, read it and be overwhelmed wi ...
My Cup of Tea
2007-07-11 23:17:00
Pakistan is one of the unique travel destinations in the world desert expanses in Thar and Cholistan, Lush green plains in Punjab, mighty mountains in Northern Pakistan and Chitral, and many just to yourself places, what else. Start of the world history can be traced down to Pakistan Indus Civilization. Pakistan has a lot to offer to every one; not only to travelers, hard core adventurers, mountaineers, rural tourists, and vacationers but also to anthropologists, archeologists, and researchers?.What is Doodhpatti? It is my cup of tea. You get a cup of tea {tealeaf (patti) brewed in water and mixed with lots of milk (doodh) and sugar} anywhere. Those who prefer more milk brew tea leafs in milk instead. Doodhpatti is taken so frequently that it is considered as cultural symbol, hence the name of this blog that showcases some of my travel experiences to places I roam around when not sitting by connected computer; waiting... ...
Fracas Blogs
2007-07-08 04:34:00
FracasUnlike the opinion of some people online, I dont believe a blog needs to be defined. For some, blogging is a way to keep track of thoughts and personal growth. For others. its a way to catalog favorite quotes, poems, recipes, or any other tidbit of information that used to be collected and retained as intellectual treasure to the person who clipped it out and saved it in an old chocolate box. For others yet, blogs provide the means to share stories as opposite as a life or death struggle with cancer or a passion for gardening. Blogs can help people locate long lost family or friends, or even find a lifemate. Blogs take the place for many, of the newspaper columnist, providing a daily dose of humour and laughter to those who have stepped into this new world of internet communication and foregone the daily newspaper; blogs provide information for the knowledge seeker, on the technical ins and outs of communicating on the web.A blog can be a business, a blog can be a hobby. A ...
The Thinking Blog(er)
2007-07-07 11:22:00
Ilker YoldasFirst of all I would like to thank you for thinking about me for this interview. I will do my best to answer all your questions. However, I have very limited time so please excuse me if some are shorten than expected. I will follow the comments of this post and reply further questions from readers if possible. What is a blog to you? Blogging is my hobby. It allows me to share information with people around the world. When I started this site, I called it 'The Thinking Blog' for the following reason; here is where I write about things that I like, find useful, and ONLY stuff that I feel is worth sharing. That's why my motto is "Knowledge Grows When Shared."The Thinking Blog is more than just a frequently-updated source of amusing facts and interesting information. It is a stream of consciousness intended to be succinct and thought provoking. A cornucopia of eclectic topics aiming to examine a range of exciting ideas, inspirational technologies and cultural curiosities. Th ...

2007-07-06 23:32:00
Blogsphere is characterized as global media reaching out across cultures, societies and geographical boundaries. The powerful idea of spreading love by highlighting blogs that are trying to change the world in a positive way comes from Franscud at Caught In The Stream (Rules). Lynda Winsor a very prolific blogger - thinks that I am also contributing to a Positive Global Change. 2007-07-05 22:30:00
What criteria do you use to select and invite bloggers?Where as I take open contributions as well, criteria to invite bloggers to write Fine Art of Blogging posts are simple. I email invitations to those who I think can contribute meaningfully and add to the bloggy knowledge; writers, experts in any chosen field, bloggers with good rank and authority (as Technorati says it). Those who have new things to say, others (and I) can learn from.Alina Popescu, best wishes for your license paper and other academic pursuits.PS: Suggest bloggers you want to b included in this project here. ...

It's a Woman's World
2007-07-05 08:04:00
Lynda WinsorWhen I first came to the world of blogging, the blogosphere, I had no idea what I was doing, what it was all about, or even what I would blog about. That changed real fast! I fell in love with the blogosphere, and, with blogging itself. I am addicted to turning out posts, day by day.I was taught by the instructors of blogging (we have all read their stuff), that a blog should be a personal journal. I simply do not agree with that. A blog to me is an information center on whatever you, the blogger, feel is worth sharing with the world as a whole. For instance, I have seven blogs (lynda's loft, Writing for the Hell of It~, Heavenly Inclinations, It's a Woman's World, Life Line 101, Remarkable Bloggers and The G (Gentleman's) Spot), each on a different subject. And I have some more in storage, so to speak. Perhaps the facets of my personality need an outlet, or perhaps my intellect is so diverse that it needs release. Who knows? All I know is that I can sit and tap the key ...
Write for Life..
2007-07-05 00:00:00
Diane Dorce aka MizrepresentHave you ever had a calling? Or something you recognized as such? Well, my writing calls to me everyday, every hour of every day, and every minute of every day. I process images, and then words and sentences formulate to create. I initially started the Write to Life blog to record my ups and downs, and travels of a beginning small publisher. After becoming somewhat disenchanted with the business of acquiring an agent, the rejections from publishers and one bad experience after another, I thought I would try my hand at it. I may have posted a total of 8 posts with regards to publishing when I started blogging about life in general.I found my character, I AM MIZREPRESENT, and I am representing the best way I know how. Not always correct, sometimes misguided, forever grateful and just loving this connection that I have made with so many people I dont know, would never had known had it not been for the Blog World. I termed my new friends, My Family ...
Blog for Special Needs
2007-07-04 08:00:00
Julie R. Custodio-FuertesI have always wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember. In high school I have won several awards with some of the pieces (or masterpieces?) I have written in the Filipino language. Fast forward to now: I am now a wife to my best friend, mother of three and a special education teacher. I still do write: evaluation reports, progress reports, reviewers or test papers for my students and my children, things to do, text messages or sms and things to buy at the grocery store. I felt the need to write more, to express my thoughts and points of view as well as my experiences being a wife, a mother and a teacher. Then came my re-discovery of the internet. Re-discovery because we have been hooked when internet came to the Philippines more than a decade or so ago but maintaining an account was very expensive then. Re-discovery came via the need to send and receive emails. Slowly I discovered the joys of being connected to the web.How did I come to blog? A student o ...
Blogging (has been) Made Easy
2007-07-02 22:00:00
Roberta FergusonBlogging to me, is coming together in this large, vast world to share opinions, ideas, stories, and inspirations. It is the opportunity to have friends that you'd have otherwise not met. People share their personalities and photos with the world in hopes that other like-minded people will feel the same, or maybe differently. A blog to me, is a forum with an unlimited amount of possibilities as to what you can put on there for the world to see. Be it an online journal, a place to share family pictures, or a place to rant and rave about work and others of life's misgivings. They also ask how do I make blogging easy. Well, I could say that I make blogging easy by taking whatever information I can find and sharing it with my readers, in my own voice. I put my personality out there and others do the same. Blogging is easy and I would encourage everyone out there to get a blog. If not to chronicle day to day activities, then to say something! Have a voice and be heard!Blogg ...
