Here Comes A Storm
Kicked out of Girl Scouts at 12. I am definitely the poster girl for Does Not Play Well With Others. I once named a cat after the Siouxsie & The Banshees song Peekaboo. I like to think of myself as "vintage" goth and if you call me old, I will fork you in the eye. I have recently decided I am too stupid to date. Self realization is da bomb. Pet Peeves of the moment: People without basic manners. |

You Could Be My Lucky Starr
2007-08-20 20:27:00
There is a new meme in town, Heads or Tails coming to the blogosphere courtesy of Skittles. This weeks theme is LUCK!Now I think we all know I was Hitler in another life. Luck and Starr are not BFF's. No sir. It is more the piddley little Murphy's Law kinda of bad luck, knock wood. There have been a few times I did get lucky. Nudge nudge wink wink ;)First and foremost, I am lucky to have the kidlet I have. That child is stellar. She is smart, funny and has a big heart. And a snarky wit. What more could a mother ask for?Oh and in the last 2 years I have won two raffles. One for a DVD/VCR combo and my precious baby Starbuck's Barista 12 cup coffee maker. And with that, I have pretty much shot the wad. Don't get me started on men cause luck is gonna start circling the drain!Head on over and check out Skittle's and check out the other Heads or Tails folks! In keeping with the whole Meme vibe, Tiggerprr has tagged me for the 50K question. Which, given my less than stellar luck, we know I ...

The Roof, The Roof, The Roof Is On Fire
2007-08-19 11:14:00
First off, you really must see Superbad. Well providing you do not have a stick lodged in your ass and won't freak out over blow job jokes. This movie was so funny, I very nearly needed Depends. We went to the 7:45 show and Kidlet demanded that we get there early which was a good things since the line to get into it started at 6:45. We were second in line behind a group of teenager metrosexual walking erections. Kinda perfect for the movie, actually. Well except the characters are in no way metrosexual. Except McLovin and his vest. The movie 100% lived up to the Internet and media hype. And to think they wrote this script when they were 13?!! This is a classic in the American Pie/Porky's tradition but personally I thought it kicked the ass of both of those.I have to go to the mall again. Skinny beyotch Kidlet (that is a love name...God help me if Kyra's helpful friend were to presume to give me shit about my parenting skillz :P) bought size 6's when we went last weekend. Problem bei ...

What Else Should I Be, All Apologies
2007-08-16 20:28:00
The fabulous Travis posed a great question on the comments for this weeks Thursday Thirteen. Coming as it does on the anniversary of the death of Elvis, I really feel I must share it on a post and throw open the door to your thoughts.Travis commented, "I love this 13. And it sparks a question that has been asked and debated many times. Is an artist obligated to care for and nurture his talent, and to share it, and to care for himself so that the talent is not lost before it can be fully explored and perfected?Jimi's quote suggests that he considered the talent his own to do with as he chose.Thoughts?"My take? We eat our idols alive. We demand what we want from them with little or no regard to the fact that they are sharing a gift with us that we have no right to demand. We deny our idols, be they musicians or actors or artists, the right to have and express opinions outside their chosen medium, and God forbid they try something new.To a certain degree, with Janis, Billie, Jimi, Kurt, Le ...

Thursday Thirteen #25 - What Are Words For?
2007-08-15 23:34:00
This week we are going to take a peek at quotes from some of my favorite musicians. Some are funny, some are sad. All of them offer insight into the artist.1. "You've got to have something to eat and a little love in your life before you can hold still for any damn body's sermon on how to behave." Billie Holiday2. "To be one, to be united is a great thing. But to respect the right to be different is maybe even greater." Bono - U23. "I'm always amazed that people take what I say seriously. I don't even take what I am seriously." David Bowie aka Ziggy Stardust, Thin White Duke, Aladdin Sane4. "Thank you for leaving us alone but giving us enough attention to boost our egos." Mick Jagger - The Rolling Stones5. "I never wanted to be famous. I only wanted to be great." Ray Charles6. "Sometimes I am two people. Johnny is the nice one. Cash causes all the trouble. They fight." Johnny Cash7. "I'm the one that has to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live my life, the way I want ...

Just Jack
2007-08-12 21:10:00
I'm a virgin! What? Quit snickering! Jesus, rude people. Seriously, I am. At least in terms of my Jack Factorness. I was the very first review on Jack's new blog. And seeing as how he asked to marry me and/or get blasted and party with me, I'd say the boy has good taste! He has completely valid points on my sidebars and if I could only clone myself I'd figure out a way to make scrolling content boxes for the sidebar content. It's that or I am lazy :PAesthetics aside, Jack gave me a thumbs up on my content which is where I live and breathe. And I didn't even pay him!So check out the review of my blog and get some balls and ask to be reviewed. Matt..he'd LOVE you =) ...

I See A Bad Moon A Rising
2007-08-12 12:22:00
Kidlet and I saw Skinwalkers aka Werewolves last night. Not so much Skinwalkers from the Native American point of view. More like, "Hey they are similar in nature but Skinwalker sounds fresher than Werewolf! Let's use it!"It was pretty cheesetastic. But heck it was bargain hour and Kidlet and I LOVE bad horror so we had a good time. It was actually so cheesy in spots that Kidlet and I burst out laughing in the theater. Big huge gun battle (with a cool gun toting granny who stole the show) in which NONE of these fucking wolfs could hit the broad side of a barn. Oh and the scene where the badasses roll into town on their Harley's....in slow mo...we bust out laughing. Only other people in the theater were two bimbo teens who looked totally lost and a scary older fat guy. I told Kidlet he was gonna head to 7-11 after the movie to get Nacho's and a Code Red before heading home to play Worlds of Warcraft and then jack off to Sailor Moon Porn. She shot coke out her nose. It was teh win. We ...

With The Twenty Four Hour Party People
2007-08-11 09:51:00
Tony Wilson Dies At 57. This bummed me out. Tony was only 57. Again this is a tangent that I am pretty sure I will be losing most of you on as I don't think there are a lot of Happy Monday/glow stick wavers/Madchester fans in my audience. Except perhaps, the Brits ;)Tony founded Factory records in the late 70's and opened the popular (and infamous) Hacienda Club both of which were instrumental in creating the entire Madchester sound and scene which in turn influenced the later Baggy and Britpop (hello Blur and Oasis.) Not to mention the entire Rave scene and the birth of the DJ as a star rather than merely an instrument. And for giving us Joy Division and New Order, Tony is owed a huge thanks. Not to mention he was bitingly amusing as only the English can be. Sorry folks, they OWN us when it comes to irony and sarcasm. For those of you who are familiar with the sounds of Manchester in the 80's and 90's click on the picture of Tony above for a highly entertaining interview from the 8 ...

I Ain't Saying You A Gold Digger

Reason enough to buy Kanye's Album on Sept 11.What's the matter Curtis? Worried about the new disc and trying to stir up a little controversy? What happened? Run out of lyric from Skywalker you could borrow?I like Kanye West. I wish Fiddy had been an inch or two to the left when he got shot. Then I wouldn't have to listen to the crap he puts forth. Keepin' it real. ...

Brother Can You Spare A Dime?
2007-08-09 19:08:00
***Warning***This is not an easy story to read and I am including pictures that are NOT easy to look at, especially for those who love pets. I read about this poor dog last week in the AJC and felt compelled to donated to help this poor animal. This afternoon I just received my sponsorship certificate and an update on Sparky. I am so glad I donated to help Sparky, especially in light of poor Maxine's death. Pet's depend on their humans and sometimes we fail them, and other times the humans in question should be shot. I am pretty sure most of you will agree with this.Sparky is a 1 year old, 28 pound Terrier mix. He's cute as a button, and very sweet, which makes it all the harder to believe that a "human" would intentionally inflict such horrific injuries on a helpless dog. Sparky was tied to the bumper of a car by his leash and dragged behind the vehicle on July 26th. He survived when his head slipped out of the collar, and he was quickly picked up by passers by who took him to Anim ...

Thursday Thirteen 24 - Girls On Film (Two Minutes Later)
2007-08-09 00:32:00
There are a surprising number of good movies that are coming out that I am looking forward to. Y'all got a preview with my lastest WW but something tells me the ladies will not mind if I repeat myself ;)Death At A Funeral - I am a SUCKER for the British comedy. I love them. I am a self admitted Anglophile. The only thing this one looks like it is missing is Hugh Grant. I love Hugh Grant...Control - This is a niche movie and probably will have most of you scratching your heads, but Kidlet and I are so looking forward to this. Ian Curtis was the lead singer of the band Joy Division in the late 70's until he commited suicide in May of 1980. Joy Division is best known for the song Love Will Tear Us Apart and for the re-emergence of the remaining band members as New Order. Joy Division are arguably the font of what is called modern Goth music with actually being Goth themselves. Ian wrote the script that Kurt would later follow.Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten - What is there to say ...
