Hi Y'all! I am back from the Kidlet and Starr roadtrip. We had an awesome time! The concert was kick ass as I have written. We got up Saturday morning and hit the mall from some Converse shopping therapy. Kidlet used her money to get liquid eyeliner from MAC and she is now a convert.Then we sat through the hippy traffic (try going only 6 miles in one hour) but finally we were on our way. It was gorgeous out, 85 and sunny. We got to Florence and then drove up Hwy 101 to Newport and Depoe Bay. Our Bed and Breakfast was run by a guy who must be a chef, told us they had a price fix dinner 3 course with dessert that was French themed in honor of Bastille Day. 20 bucks a head! It was an awesome dinner. The dining room faced the Harbor and the bridge and we got to watch the fishing boats come in while we ate. Dinner was chilled zucchini and sorrel soup with creme fraiche and dill. A ragout of chanterelles and oysters in the a brandy creme garlic sauce. Main course was Prawns and Langoustine ...

OMFG did that concert kick some ass. Whole huge HEAPS of ass. Social D was just fucking awesome. The concert was outdoors, the weather was perfect, and they played their version of Under My Thumb and Six More Miles. It was beautiful. We had a huge fucking mosh pit with much slam dancing and body surfing. And a shit ton of kids were there. Mike Ness called for all the little ones to come on stage and then said he called them up there to give thanks to the Old School crowd for passing on the torch. Kidlet didn't go up cause frankly Kidlet looks about as 12 as I do!She got a killer t-shirt and I got a gray Social D hoodie. It was awesome cause while I do so love me some Green Day, Social D is old school punk. When you have bad ass mofo's in spiked Motorhead jackets beating the shit out of each other in the pit, you know you are at a punk concert. Plaid pants from Lip Services does not a punk rocker make. Social Distortion Time!!Today is the day Kidlet and I pack up and take off for our Weekend Road Trip. She is still sleeping and I am doing laundry. Gonna wake her up at 9:30ish and get us both showered and packed and out the door. Me with my new leopard skinned laptop bag and 520 (yes Sparky....520) count CD case. Her with her new Hot Pink laptop case that she plans to graffiti all to hell.We need to hit Hot Topic for an Emily the Strange T Shirt and the Mall for a Proactive refill and then the open road for Eugene, Oregon. The concert is tonight at 7 at Secret House Winery in Veneta but our hotel is in Eugene. Not like we are talking a huge distance. And I did grow up in Eugene. Sunburns suck.Apparently I managed to fry the back of my neck Saturday while doing all of that planting. And the chain I have my cross on is not exactly lightweight or smooth....Mazzy Star....grr.Sorry but I feel the need to record just how much this song likes to stalk me. I mean damn! What next, Dido?So anyhow, my digression is done. Got to the office early. And it was cold! Yesterday and Saturday? Hot. Well Saturday it was more along the lines of airless. Ahh the office. So quiet. So fucking hot at 6:30 in the AM. It is going to be unpleasant in here today. Yesterday I gardened. I know I am in a condo what am doing gardening?! I like gardening. I'm Greek, it is in our blood. I bought two planter color pots that were already done and then planted some Ajuga and zinnias and Gazania and replanted my lavender with some nice scarlet begonia's. Just like the song :P I also finally figured out what plant this is ......and where to buy it so I got me a couple of those and planted them in my big back deck container. I find it amusing they are called Lucifer.Then got bored/twitchy around 4 so I said WTF and drove to the beach. It made for a nice 3+ hour drive as I went via HWY 6 which is, in my opinion, MUCH prettier than the traditional way of getting to the beach Via HWY 26. Ola people! How was everyone's 4th? Kidlet and I parked it on a picnic table outside of a pizza place in Banks and watched fireworks. It was fun, we had a great view. No kidlet tonight so I get to just hang out and babble at you people. Wednesday's off are funky. Actually I used to work 4 10's with Wednesday off and I seem to remember liking it. This week it just felt confusing. I work tomorrow. I work a great deal this month. On the plus side a week from now I will be at the Social Distortion concert in Eugene. And then at the end of the month it is The Oregon Shakespeare Festival for two plays. Look for Shakespeare themed Thursday Thirteens. Cause I love me some Willy Shakes. I got a kick out of this story regarding Live Earth. Yesterday was mega movie day, and lucky you all, you get my take on a couple of them! I was slacker girl when I got home. Took a hot shower, put on the pj's and parked it on the couch for the remainder of the day. I worked my way through not 1, not 2, but *3* movies!First up was The Painted Veil. Now I have to admit I went into it with a bit of reservation as I ADORE Someret Maugham and hold adaptations of his work to a high standard. I was quite happy then to have this version turn out to be not only very good, but also much more faithful to the book than the 1930's Garbo film.Naomi Watts was so good in this that I actually forgot to look for a slimy little girl stalking her. And here I thought the girl was permanently type cast as Samara bait.Edward Norton was his usual stellar self. I really think he is under-rated or at least under acknowledged as a great actor. Yawn.At work. Again. July is officially here and this is just about my busiest month. February reigns supreme by a hand full of groups and the fact that it only has 28 days. Yes I know I get a whole extra day every leap year. Weeeee!Anyhow, I think I have around 350 groups in July. Now times each of those by 35 minutes and you get my workload for the month. Approx 204 hours. Just heads down working them. No phone calls, no ups or extras, no emails, no questions, no nothing. There are 21 business days consisting (traditionally) of 8 hour days in July. 168 hour. Which leaves me a 36 hour deficit just to do these groups! Which is why I am here. Happy Dance.I have errands to run today too. According to Mom I must stop and get A Dirty Job - By Christopher Moore because it is apparently funnah as hell and mom says he talks like me.
