Doors and Windows
2007-06-14 15:50:00
Everyone has heard the saying "If God closes a door, he opens a window." Today has proven that statement to me.My interview yesterday was simply atrocious. The guy pretty much told me flat out that I was not what he was looking for. He was very rude when I told him that Sundays and Wednesday evenings were not an option for me. I told my dad about the whole scenario, and he agreed that it just was not worth it to compromise church just for a few bucks. Minimum wage to be exact. After the interview, which I know did not go well and even if it did, I'm not sure that I want the job anymore, I decided that I should look on the bright side. I would get to work at SS camp, and go to my aunt's like I usually do, and veg all summer. It wouldn't be so bad.So today, I went to work with my dad (read as: I rode in the car and sat in the burning inferno of a car while my dad did his appointment that would "just take an hour" and ended up taking two, so I slept in the car, which because he took th ...

To Fund With Flocking Birds
2007-06-11 08:51:00
Yeah, I know that was pretty corny/nerdy, but I was in great need of a title. Anyway, Bro. Holley asked what flocking is, so here's the gist of it.Sis. Redmond ordered around 24 pink flamingos. there are 12 large ones and 12 small ones. The small ones are MUCH cheesier. I wish I had gotten a picture of the Dennison's yard when we flocked it. In fact, funny story about that first. The Dennison's have been remodeling their house for a long time. Probably at least since Canaan, their 6 year old, was born. So the foundation of their house was exposed and we could see there was a tire in the foundation (yeah, we didn't get it either) and their neighbors across the street are complete....er....white trash, so to speak. These people WANTED these tacky pink flamingos. It was horrible. We laughed so hard. They said that if the Dennison's didn't have them out of their yard by the time they went to bed, they would steal them. Way too funny.Anyway, onto the fundraising. For $15 dollars, you ...

Flocking
2007-06-10 22:42:00
Here's a fundraising idea I bet you never thought of. To raise money for youth congress, we're flocking people with pink flamingos. It's very complicated to explain. If you're really interested, leave me a comment and I will update with details.P.S. That's my pastor's yard. Which we did indeed flock. Very well, in fact. Muahahaha.... ...

Grandma Update
2007-06-10 22:41:00
Quick update on my grandmother.I went to go see her this afternoon. She was apparently having a much better day than Friday, which was when my grandpa called my dad. She had no memory on that day and couldn't get herself up. She hadn't been eating over the past couple days. Apparently yesterday and today her appetite has increased and she seemed to have her memory back today. It's both good and bad at the same time. I know that when my grandmother died 6 years ago from the same type of cancer, it was at the end of April. About a week before she died, she improved drastically, the same way that my grandma is now. Needless to say, this scares the bajeebies out of me. I'm terrified when the phone rings that it's going to be someone saying that she's gone. This morning I had a bit of a scare like that. On Sundays, my parents usually get me up at about 7:30. Well, this morning, my brother woke me up telling me "Hey, Becky, Uncle Ken and Aunt Julie are coming home!" Then I looked at the ...

I can't wait till she starts dating....
2007-06-08 02:55:00
I was playing Pac-Man World 2 on the XBox yesterday and my sister was sitting next to me. We got to this exceptionally frustrating level where Pinky (one of the ghosts) has created a robot to try to kill PacMan to keep him from getting the golden fruit (there's a plot line to the story involving golden fruit. If you're really curious, check the game out yourself) Well, anyway, Pinky apparently loves PacMan so she's just bitter, so the little word bubble that comes up before you start playing says someting along the lines of-"Oh PacMan, Spooky (the ghost leader) was right. You never wanted me. Well, if I can't have you, no one will."My sister, who can't read yet, asked me to read the story line to her. So I did and she asked me "Why does the robot want to kill PacMan?" Michael told her, "Duh. She loves PacMan and he doesn't love her back so she wants to kill him.""Becky, when girls love boys, they're supposed to love them back right?""Ummm...not always. Maybe PacMan just wanted ...
