A Zero or a Hero?!
2007-11-16 22:03:00
For those of you who don't do paid posts, you're probably wondering what why in the world there are so many bloggers complaining about their Google Page Ranking being cut in half. It's actually gotten worse...now I have found myself along with some really good company with big 'ole goose eggs for our page ranking! Before I started doing paid posts I didn't care a bit about what Google or any other ranking system like Alexa or technorati thought about my blog. When you do paid posts, it matters a whole lot. Your Google Ranking determines whether or not you get a 300 word $5 ad or a 50 word $100 ad! It's aggravating that Google can cut us off at the knees, but hopefully Ikea (formerly PayPerPost) has a solution. We as bloggers just have to sit back and wait until Izea gets this new ranking system in place. For now I'm going to go into the corner with my friend Linda and cry for a bit! Many thanks to Kai who had the above image over at her dot com Just Me. I thought it was ...
Birthday Girl
2007-11-16 21:05:00
Monday I will turn 30, but my daughter Shelby will turn five ten days following. Her birthday is on the 29th. We're having her birthday party next weekend. She's having a High School Musical themed party. Brien and I are going to try tomorrow to go get her birthday gifts. She actually has tickets to see the High School Musical stage performance but it's not until December, so we're going to get her some smaller things in addition to this. She has given me a few ideas. When I asked her tonight if she had any thing she wanted to add, her response was, "Mom just get somethin' good okay. I know you will"! My girl's got faith in me doesn't she?! *LOL****Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...

Miss Classy Independent

What do you think about this hair do? Shelby woke up this morning and after getting dressed she went to the bathroom where she spent the better part of 15 minutes. She emerged with a huge smile on her face and proclaimed that she had fixed her hair and it was very "stylish & cool". Yes, my four year old spoke these very words. She would not allow me to compromise this stylish perfection. She informed me that she had made her hair look like she wanted it and she thought that I would "mess it up" if I touched it. So, she went to school with her hair styled by a professional today instead of her (almost 30 year old) mom. I must say that I was quite impressed with her styling abilities. In another year, I think I'll get her up a bit earlier and turn let her test out my locks!***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
Awards
2007-11-15 19:47:00
I've been given awards from some of my favorite bloggers and I just wanted to make not of them here. Mimi, the queen of memes and the peace globe movement gave me The Colors of Friendship Award. You can read about it here. She said she likes my style! How cool is that? Thank you, Mimi. My friend, Sandee from Comedy+ has also graciously awarded me with this one. Thank you , Sandee. You're a gem! Bridget, from ...And Miles to go called me her delightful friend as she presented me with The Blog of The Month Award. You can read about this award here. Thanks, girlfriend for those kind words and this award:For the spirit of giving, Sandee from Comedy+ has also given me The Bloggers With Integrity Award. Coming from a wonderful person like Sandee, this truly does mean a lot. Thank you for this one:I also got this one from Akelamalu because I figured out her Nursery Rhyme quiz. It was quite fun, indeed.***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) ...
Dang!
2007-11-14 21:10:00
I don't know about every one else, but I'm really not liking Google's new "slap on the wrist" page rankings! I am now ranked at a 2, this is down from a 4. This has taken my money making opportunities and kicked them right out the door! It's aggravating since I was well on my way to saving for my Vegas trip next year. But, it's apparent that Google does not like paid posts and those of us who do them are being severely punished, therefore we are unable to do paid posts now because we can't get any decent ones! What about you? Has this deGooglefying affected anyone other than myself? *sniff****Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
3 Years Strong
2007-11-13 14:40:00
Today I've been blogging for THREE years. I can't believe it. It seems like only yesterday my best friend Becca was telling me about this "online journal" she had. I thought to myself, What a great idea! It's an awesome way to keep my thoughts and ideas all in one place. Little did I know that three years later I'd have readers who actually commented other than my family (who often read and don't comment) and Becca. I just want to take the time to say Thank You to all who visit and comment. I feel a close friendship with many of you who stop by and leave your kind words of encouragement, friendship, and laughter when I need it the most. Thank You all so much! Now, as my friend Bee would say, "Let's eat cake"!! ***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
The Garage
2007-11-13 08:49:00
When we first bought this house I remember being so excited to have a garage. I drive a four door Dodge Ram pick up truck, so it's very difficult to get it inside the garage. I never got into the habit of parking the truck there, unless it was raining. Instead it was much nicer to use this it as garage storage! Even though we have a huge shop out back that we can store things in, it's just more convenient to put things like holiday decorations, luggage, and things that we need frequently out there. I try to get hubby to put them in the attic but, usually by the time he gets them in there we need them again. One good thing is that I have the seasonal things, like decorations in clear plastic tubs and they're labeled so when we need them they are easily located. How about you? What is in your garage? Do you actually have room to park your vehicle?!***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
I couldn't be so lucky!
2007-11-12 20:24:00
I only thought I came through that icky stomach bug unscathed! Turns out it hit me, like a ton of bricks this afternoon after I had lunch. I left work early and my friends this afternoon has been hell! I will spare you all of the horrendous details but suffice it to say that I think I might have lost 10 pounds today. :(Hubby is still in the deer woods, so the in-laws (God, I love them!) picked the kiddos up from day care and they are keeping them overnight. Please pray for me that the porcelain Gods will spare me!***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...

Weekend Recap
2007-11-11 21:58:00
After the 24 hour bug flew through our house, we have all survived and since passed it on to some other loving members of our family. We had great fun this weekend at two separate birthday parties. We celebrated with my cousin the first birthday of his daughter. She is so cute and she had great fun opening her gifts. The joy in her eyes as she realized that there were fun toys beneath that wrapping paper was too cute. This afternoon we went to my niece's fifth birthday party at a bowling alley! What fun we had. The kids and parents alike had a great time bowling. Katie got a total of 3 Ratatouille movies! She opened the one I got her first. Then the following three gifts were the same thing. She wasn't too upset about it. I told her that she just had a free pass to go to the store and pick out two more movies. Since Shrek 3 comes out Tuesday, I think I know what one of her choices will be!The girls had their parties a bit early. Katie will turn five on the 18th which just ...

I have fought when others feared to serve.I have gone where others failed to go.I've lost friends in war and strife,Who valued Duty more than love of life.I have shared the comradeship of pain.I have searched the lands for men that we have lost.I have sons who served this land of liberty,Who would fight to see that other stricken lands are free.I have seen the weak forsake humanity.I have heard the traitors praise our enemy.I've seen challenged men become even bolder,I've seen the Duty, Honor, Sacrifice of the Soldier. Now I understand the meaning of our lives,The loss of comrades not so very long ago.So to you who have answered duties siren call,May God bless you my son, may God bless you all.-Author UnknownThank you to all who serve from the Black Family!Brien, Tisha, Shelby, & Tyler***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
Lil' Hunters
2007-11-11 11:17:00
This morning after breakfast my niece, Katie and daughter, Shelby came into the kitchen as I was cleaning up and told me that I needed to be quiet. Okay, I'll try to be quiet I informed them. But, why? Katie said that they had built a deer stand in the bedroom and they were hunting for deer. I went into the bedroom to find this:Their dads will be so proud. When they come home from the deer woods, they'll be glad to know that their daughters were hunting in the comforts of their own home. *LOL****Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
Saturday Photo Hunt
2007-11-10 06:32:00
My 37th This Week's Theme: FlexibleSPH Headquarters ~ The Other 35You may be asking yourself why in the world this photo could be tagged as flexible? Well if you take a good look at what Shelby is proudly displaying, you will clearly understand. This is an Easy Bake Oven. It has since been recalled. In fact she got her hand stuck in it on Christmas morning. Thankfully it happened before we plugged it in and she was fortunate to not get burned. I think that America has become too flexible in what we are allowing manufacturers to deem appropriate for our children! With the holidays coming up, it's weighing on my mind what to buy my children. This Christmas I promise to be less flexible and more aware of what I'm purchasing for not only my children, but all of my loved ones. I'm sure you'll be doing the same.Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt Participants1. Heather2. maiylah3. Melli4. PowersTwinB5. eastcoastlife6. Barbara H.7. pelfy8. And Miles to Go...9. SabineM10. Sick Children Update
2007-11-09 19:04:00
Last night was by far one of the longest nights I've had in a while. I couldn't tell you the last time I stayed awake until 4Am! Teenagers in their prime would be so proud, well that is until they found out WHY I was awake until 4AM. My children simultaneously developed some sort of stomach bug. Every 20-30 minutes last night, I was playing catch. There were only two instances where they required my attention at the same time, THANK GOODNESS! It was a rough night, to say the least. I went through a whole load of bath towels, my "catcher's mitt" before the end of my shift. Finally at 4AM I woke my sleeping husband and he graciously relieved me of my duties and he took over. I slept for about two hours. I called in to work and told my co-worker that I'd be a little late. I couldn't take the day off because there were already two other people scheduled off and that would have left him there by himself. So, I downed a Red Bull and a 32 ounce Caramel Vanilla Latte to get m ...
