Tyler the Toddler?! *sniff*
2007-11-28 20:55:00
My little guy is growing so fast. Tyler turned two in August and he still sleeps in a crib. This is mostly due to the fact that I just can't accept that he's not a baby anymore! We've talked about getting him in a "big boy" bed, and it always goes back to the climbing out factor. I know he would LOVE to have a big boy bed. I would just have to take the crib down and that would be an end to the baby era in our house. We've officially graduated to the toddler / pre K ages, although Shelby would beg to differ because in her eyes she's pre-High School. I need to look into some furniture for his room. He needs a new entertainment center to match his new bed. I have found some really nice looking entertainment centers online made by Bush furniture. In the meantime, I'll still lay my "baby" boy in his crib at night. *sigh****Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
Blog vs Life
2007-11-28 06:58:00
I am so sorry that I've been a bit scarce commenting on your blogs lately. My husband mentioned to me the other night that he has forgotten what my body looked like from the neck down because he usually just sees me looking up over my lap top when he is speaking to me. That really hit home. At first I denied it, but the more I thought about it the more I realized that it was true. Then I brought up that I am making money blogging and you have to work to get good opps. He smiled and then said that this was the case even before I began doing the paid posts. This is true. But it was a valiant effort on my part to defend my blogging addiction.I do love blogging. I love the people that I have met. I love the thought of keeping an online journal of my daily thoughts and interactions with my children. I love the fact that they will be able to see how I felt on any given day in twenty years just by typing in Crazy Working Mom in any search engine. But, this is taking away from my f ...

Random Thoughts

Is it just me or do all of the light bulbs in the house seem to burn out at the same time? I went to replace a bulb in one room over the weekend and used the last light bulb in the house. Now there is a bulb out in two other rooms in the house. It seems like it happens this way every time.***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...

"Soccer"
2007-11-27 19:06:00
Tyler, our two year old really loves the new family pet. His name is Oscar only this name has proven to be a bit of a tongue twister for the little guy. He has found it much simpler to call him "Soccer". "Soccer" is doing great adjusting to his new home. He's doing well going outside to potty. He's had a couple of accidents, but they can be attributed to me not getting him outside in time. I think he's going to fit right in! He's even made friends with JJ the kitten. They played a few games of chase when I went home for lunch to let Oscar out to potty. So, hopefully the whole family is content with the new addition at the moment.***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
The 2007 Black Family Christmas Tree
2007-11-26 19:51:00
We have our Christmas tree proudly displayed in our living room. The Thanksgiving decorations are in the garage awaiting their journey to the attic. This is the first year that I can recall putting it up in November. I usually wait until after Shelby's birthday to begin the Christmas decorating, but we're going to be really busy for the next few weekends, so we chose to do so this weekend. We did things a bit different this year. I normally do ribbon spiraling from top to bottom, but this year I went with bows. It's been several years since I've done so, and I am happy with the final look. Here's the 2004 look (in our old house):...and 2006:A yearly tradition consists of letting the kids pick out a new ornament for the year. This year Shelby's contribution was a beautiful snowflake shaped Tinkerbell ornament:While Tyler chose Spidey in the Spiderman 3 movie pose:The kids helped me decorate our Christmas tree, as always. I usually let them help and then after they go to be ...
Shelby's Birthday Party
2007-11-26 19:43:00
Saturday was Shelby's much anticipated 5th birthday party. She will not officially be a full fist of fingers in age until Thursday. You can read about my "Black Friday" shopping experience and her birth here. She had a wonderful party. She was surrounded by family and friends who brought her some very special gifts. She received the long awaited Shrek the 3rd as well as Hairspray which she's watched three times already (Thanks Aunt "Lulu"). She got a "Step Step Dance Game" (this is her official name for it). It's a game of Twister, only it comes with a CD and you have to listen to the moves and repeat. She challenged me to a friendly game and whipped my butt. I tired out after the first two rounds. It was quite a work out. I am thinking that maybe I should cancel my Curves membership and just play this three times a week with her. I might be more likely to attend the game sessions than the work outs. She got countless "dress up outfits" and "girlie things" like make up ...
Manic Monday - Rank
2007-11-26 08:15:00
This Week's Theme: RankAs most of you already know, I have quite the song writer of a daughter. She can neither read or write (anything other than her own name) but, she considers herself a songwriter none the less! Tonight she had created quite the masterpiece. She has a toy with a microphone that does a few minutes worth of recording and she brought it to me tonight and she had a song about me! She was so excited that she had an entire song devoted to her mommy. It was quite a catchy song, but my favorite lines in the dedicated piece of work were:I love my momma 'cause she's so adorable.I love my momma 'cause she's not horrible! Now, that my friends Ranks right up there as a number one hit in my book! It doesn't get any better than that does it? Seriously, your children telling you that you're adorable and NOT horrible all in the same breath! I only home in ten years she's still singing this same tune!***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forg ...
St Augustine Artwalk
2007-11-25 20:42:00
One of the downsides to living in a small rural town in Arkansas is the lack of culture. I have visited big cities and that is one of the things I find most intriguing in a large city. I love that there are so many things to do, all of the time. Usually in small town Arkansas we have annual or semi-annual events, but most of the time they are not free and usually do not involve art to the magnitude of the First Friday Weekend Art Walk in St Augustine, Florida. This is one of the most popular cultural events in central Florida. It takes place the first Friday and Saturday of each month from 5 to 9pm with over 20 participating art galleries! To make your visit to each gallery more pleasant, sightseeing trains and old town trolleys are a complimentary shuttle service to most of the galleries. You can catch a ride every thirty minutes. The greatest thing about this event is that it is free to the public. Music, entertainment, and refreshments are offered up with the latest exhib ...
Have you tried these?!
2007-11-25 20:34:00
Let me preface this post by saying that it is NOT a paid post. Do you like Oreo Cookies? If so, have you tried the "limited" edition white fudge covered Oreo cookie? It is absolutely heavenly! I love them. In fact I'm on my second box. I'm very discouraged by the fact that they are a "limited" edition. I know, I know they could be easily made, but who in the heck has time for dipping Oreos individually in white fudge, much less waiting on them to cool! I guess after the "limited" time is over, I'll hit the gym again. Until then, I'm off to find a tall glass of milk. I've flung a craving upon myself!***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...

Queen Shelby
2007-11-23 17:30:00
You wouldn't think that having a five year old would require you to have makeup mirrors in every possible location of the house, but my daughter Shelby has surely proved otherwise. I tell ya what, we've got our work cut out for us with this one. She bought herself a High School Musical bag at Toys R Us last Sunday and she thinks she's the cat's meow now! She has quickly filled it with one of her father's old cell phones, High School Musical lip balm, Barbie Sunglasses, an old set of keys, and many other "important" things that she might need during the course of her day. She carries this new bag with her everywhere. She will be five in a little over a week and already she acts like she's 13. Oh yes, we've got a diva on our hands and I fear it's only going to get worse.***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
