Christmas on the beach?
2007-12-13 21:49:00
Thank goodness we've been lucky here in Arkansas and the weather hasn't been too awfully bad so far this winter. We've had a lot of rain in the last two weeks, but we're very fortunate compared to our neighboring states. There have been lots of people without power and even some fatalities due to the ice storms. I am sure that some of these people are wishing they could get away from all of this snow and ice and go somewhere warm. Just picture sitting on the beach listening to the ocean waves crash into the sand. Amelia Island is offering a wonderful Lodging Special. If you book two nights you'll get the third night free! Amelia Island was voted one of the top 10 islands in America by Condé Nast readers. There are Great golf courses, shopping, incredible restaurants and unlimited activities and adventure. Shopping and more shopping...
2007-12-10 20:59:00
Yesterday was a fun day! We went...*gulp*...Christmas shopping. Our saving grace was that the weather was horrible. It was cold and rainy. We took the kids to the local Wal-Mart to visit with Santa. The good thing about going here versus the capital city which is an hour drive and horrible traffic is that there were NO lines. Yup, you heard me right. There was absolutely no one waiting to see the jolly ole St Nick so we got right in and the kids sat on his lap, the picture was snapped and we were on our way in minutes. Since my scanner is not working (yup, I've got one on my list) I can't post the photo here, but suffice it to say that it was quite comical. Shelby was doing her normal cheesy, "I'm cuter than you" pose while Tyler had the fear of God in his eyes! It's just too darn funny. I did make a couple of copies for my mother and mother-in-law and got them some festive frames to place them in. I also got one for myself. We took the kids out to the in-laws so we coul ...
Manic Monday - Ornament
2007-12-10 08:40:00
This Week's Theme: OrnamentMM Headquarters ~ Previous MMsIn last week's Manic Monday post, I talked about participating in a Christmas ornament exchange. Since Elizabeth e-mailed me and confirmed that she received her ornament, I thought I'd post a picture of it. I took this with my cell phone before I sealed the box after I realized that I should probably take a photo in case I wanted to post one here. The quality isn't all that great, because I was trying to take the photo quickly but here it is anyhow. It is a photo ornament. Of course she has beautiful children that she will proudly display in this ornament.***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
High School Musical Live on Stage - The Review
2007-12-09 08:25:00
The show was a blast. Shelby had such a great time. Her eyes were glued to the stage the entire time. She did manage to not muster up any tears during Troy & Gabriella's big "break up" scene. She had said that she didn't want them to see her cry. So, she managed to keep her composure during this tragic portion of the performance. (wink) Overall I would have to give the show two thumbs WAY up. It was a high energy performance and it included all of the hit songs from the show and I'm pretty sure there were a couple of songs that were not in the movie. In my opinion, the only performer that even slightly resembled the original cast was the girl who played Gabriella Montez. The fella who played Troy did not even come close to the original movie casted Troy. But, they all did a superb job at their chosen parts. The songs were beautifully arranged. The set changes were quick and amazing. There were no stage hands, the cast did all (well from what I could tell anyway) of ...
Time To Care
2007-12-09 07:21:00
Have you ever walked from one room to the next to perform an important task and by the time you got to the other room, you've forgotten what you'd gone to do? How would you feel if this happened every time you changed rooms? This memory problem produces stress, anxiety, and distress. This happens to people with Dementia on a daily basis. Dementia is not a disease, it is a general term used to describe brain damage. Many disorders cause dementia including Alzheimer's disease, strokes, Parkinson's disease, aids, & alcohol abuse. Alzheimer's is the most common cause of Dementia. Dementia is caused by the permanent loss or death of brain cells. Once the brain cells are destroyed, they are gone forever. There are no current treatments to reverse the effects of brain damage.I've been very open about my experiences with Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Brien's grandmother suffered severely from this horrible illness. I know from personal experience that the disease kn ...
The Big Day!
2007-12-08 11:14:00
Today is the big day! Shelby is dressed and ready to go. We have tickets in hand to go see High School Musical Live today at 2 o'clock. She keeps asking every 15 minutes "What time is it, Mom?!" I'll tell her and then she'll say, "Is it almost time to go yet?"We're all super excited, but Tyler has been a little mischievous all morning, so I am worried that he'll be a wild man at the show. Hopefully not, but we'll see.***Glad to know you're reading me in in your feeds! :) Don't forget to stop by and comment, though 'cause I'm DO FOLLOW!***. ...
Looking forward to tomorrow and some events of last evening...
2007-12-07 20:00:00
Tomorrow is the BIG day! Shelby finally gets to go see High School Musical! I thought about calling a real estate agent earlier in the week to see about getting a second house to move her to because she's been so excited! Honestly I'm pretty excited myself. She is sleeping in curlers tonight because she wants her hair to be "curly" tomorrow for the big production. She just laid down. I told her she had to go to sleep and get rested up because she'll be so excited tomorrow she'll need lots of rest tonight. There was no argument from her. So, here I sit on the couch with my lap top and you, my blogging friends. I'm going to do a bit of blog hopping and then get rested up myself. Last night an odd thing happened. Shelby woke up in the middle of the night talking about her nose and how "stuff was coming out like water". Brien got up with her and hey were in the bathroom which is right beside Tyler's room (and the baby monitor). I heard Brien in a panicked voice yell "Tish ...
Conversations with Shelby
2007-12-06 21:47:00
? This conversation takes place in the truck on our way home from school. ?Shelby: "Mommy, we talked about Christmas today at school."Me: "You did, that's cool. So, what did you guys talk about?"Shelby: "**Insert child's name** doesn't believe in Christmas and we talked about no all people believing in Christmas or in God. "Me: *Gulp and then begin to panic*...long silence...thinking what do I say to this?!Responds, "Well, that's true baby some people don't believe in God. But, we do. We have to respect what other people believe even if it's different than us."Shelby: "Do you believe in God?"Me: "Of course I do. If there was no a God, how did we get here?"Shelby: "From our Moms."Me: "Ummm...yes, but God created a mom a long long time ago."Shelby: "Yeah, probably so. Then those people killed baby Jesus. I wish they wouldn't have killed baby Jesus, mommy. He was just a baby."Oh, I know...the conversations are only going to get harder tougher right?!Do ...
