But Do We Watch Enough to Justify a Purchase?
2007-11-08 12:06:02
Every now and then, B and I talk about possibly getting a new television. We don't really need a new television right now, but it would be nice. It's one of our dream items, something to put on the list for when our debt is paid off, or when the current television bites the dust. The TV I have now is in great condition (I probably just jinxed it, too). I have a 32" Toshiba CRT that was pretty darn top of the line when we bought it in 2000. I think it's a decent size (better than his old television), but wouldn't mind going up in size just a little. My wish is to have a mountable 42" LCD TV that would allow us to free up the top of our entertainment cabinet. He, on the other hand, dreams of having a television like a sony 60 inch LCD TV.I wonder who's going to win on this one.... ...

Don't Be Such a Drip
2007-11-07 21:06:43
My Mother's Day gift this year (belated and picked out by me) was a new faucet for the kitchen. I love everything about this faucet! It makes the kitchen look so much nicer! It's a Price Pfister and is brushed nickel, with a tall arm and a sprayer in the arm itself. It is very beautiful. Of course, after buying and installing (B did the install, not me) this faucet, I saw an ad for a Delta faucet that was similar but had a magnet around the sprayer to get it to stay put, but I'm still happy with my faucet. If any of you new folk are interested, let me know and I can share a picture with you. ;) ...
Purely random and boring post... pass on by

Sophie actually slept through the night last night. It was so nice! The weather here was beautiful yesterday, nice cool weather that doesn't yet require a jacket. . I made Mexican Meatballs last night for dinner and actually liked them. Sophie and I met up with friends yesterday at Boston's and had a wonderful time. She was very well behaved yesterday. We also stopped up at the office to see B. We'd been through some rough traffic on the way out to lunch and figured since we were out there we might as well take advantage of being in the area. On our way home we stopped at Simpatico Yarns to say hello to MaryJane and to pick up the Holiday issue of Interweave Knits. We need to go to Pier 1 today to return a table runner that is too short. JoAnn Fabric is also on our list of places to hit. I need to pick up fleece for blankets for Christmas gifts. I absolutely love gingersnaps and have decided to make a pumpkin cheesecake with gingersnap crust possibly for Than ...
On the Dark Side

I know I've been talking about getting new office furniture from IKEA. That purchase is on hold for now. I was just browsing "desk furniture home office" and found a desk I truly love, though. If you scroll all the way to the bottom, I am in love with the dark contemporary table style desk. I thought I wanted something lighter, but after seeing this I'm not so sure. That desk is beautiful! ...
You Spin Me Right Round

Some of you will be happy to know I've updated my Ravelry a bit. I haven't added any other projects than the one, but I have put in all the books that Ravelry and I share. I can't find my copy of A Knitter's Stash, though. I'm pretty disappointed about that. I suppose I loaned it to someone and forgot about it or I lost it in the move. It's a little frustrating I can't put in all my books, but I'm sure Ravelry will continue to update their database and I'll be able to add more. It's possible I might be able to add them through Library Thing.I don't know if I'm going to bother with trying to get my stash or my needles updated. I think I'm going to ditch a bunch of needles and I know I'm about to destash soon. Look out, eBay, here I come! In somewhat slightly related news, B said tonight that he would buy me a spinning wheel if I went back to work. Heh, like I'll have time to spin then. Besides, I&apos ...
I Got NO Power! Duh duh... duh da duh duh
2007-11-06 23:23:10
This morning, I was in the bathroom about to shower, and all of a sudden I heard a *boom* that made me stop cold. No more than five seconds later, our electricity was off. My first thought was silly (I am a little paranoid at times). I thought someone had done something to the electricity to force the alarm to not work. I dismissed that as quickly as it entered my head. My next thought was of the box outside at the end of the cul de sac. It's come close to being hit before. Perhaps someone finally managed to hit it this time.I opened the front door to see if I could figure out what was going on to see the Tri-County Electric truck driving off. At that point, I was pretty miffed, because some dolt from the electric company came out here, banged on the box, and caused our electricity to not work. What the hell?I called B to get the number from TCE and let him know the electricity was out. I then called TCE to discover we had been cut off for non-payment. !!! At this poin ...
MomPack: Chicks & Cubs
2007-11-06 09:09:16
Cynthia Powell is the owner of Chicks & Cubs, a company that sells a selection of keepsake items, child safety items, and baby slings. She sent several samples of various child safety products, and I have to admit I am very much in love with these products. When I first looked through her website, I wasn't convinced I would ever use the safety items at all, but now that I've seen them I have completely changed my mind. I will be placing an order shortly for not just my daughter, but for my nieces as well. Before I get into the products I've had a chance to sample, I want to mention Cynthia's baby shoe bronzing. My mother had my shoes bronzed when I was a baby (I wish I could find them, too!) and I've considered doing this for Sophie. It really does make for a great keepsake. It's difficult to remember their feet being so tiny after even a few years! The quality of the child safety items is top notch, definitely something I would feel comfortable putt ...

Big Bad Biker B
2007-11-05 22:16:33
B rides a bike and loves to wear leather. It was a little more appropriate when he had the old Suzuki, but now that he has the new bike, leather almost looks silly on him. However, he always makes sure to dress appropriately. The Bazaar Online offers some great discount motorcycle leather, though. I know he has been talking about getting chaps of some sort, so I might dig around here to see if I can find something for him for Christmas. He's very smart about the armor he wears. Granted, in an accident, a jacket or a pair of chaps may not save his life, but it will most likely keep him from getting terribly banged up if it's just a small spill (he's had two and managed to do well thanks to body armor). ...
The Midnight Terror Strikes Again
2007-11-05 08:32:55
Last night Sophie decided it was necessary to get up for an hour and a half and play (and snack) for some reason. Ugh. I tried for an hour to get her to go back to sleep when I went to bed, but it just wasn't happening. She kept sitting up and talking. We finally got out of bed and she read a few books to herself, announced that she wanted milk (and then drank a cup and a half), and then announced that she was hungry as well. She actually wanted to sit in the high chair and eat. I only gave her cereal since I was not about to fix anything else, but she was happy with that. Of course, we had to read books together when she was done eating. She finally decided it was time to go to bed, and after a quick rock in the bentwood, we crawled into bed and I passed out. I'm assuming she did as well, but there's no guarantee. I hope she makes up for last night with an extra long nap today. It would be awfully nice to take a nap myself, but I have tons I want to get done, ...
My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean...
2007-11-05 00:28:57
At one time, I had a friend or two who lived in Manchester. I used to dream of going overseas for a visit, knowing that I would have my own personal tour guides. I would most likely have found Manchester Accommodation instead of trying to stay with anyone, just so I wouldn't be imposing anymore than requesting the guided tours.Someday, I would also like to travel to Edinburgh. From what I've seen, the Edinburgh Hotels are quite welcoming. I think of all the Edinburgh Accommodations, the Balmoral Hotel Edinburgh is by far my favorite. It's such a beautiful hotel! See for yourselves! I think while across the pond I would take in a fiber and food tour, customized for me, of course. I am dying to see all the lovely sheep and yarns and spinning and weaving. The food may not be nearly as fun, but I would still love to try it. ...
Handy Folders
2007-11-02 23:02:55
Okay guys, I'm about to geek out on you for a bit. If you're interested, hang around. I have recently had the pleasure of testing a new (to me) piece of software and I have to admit, I wasn't impressed at first, but the more I've used it, the more I really like it. Handy folders is a great way to access your favorite folders in any program within Windows, as well as Windows itself.I think one of the reasons I wasn't terribly impressed at first is my extensive use of the Quick Launch bar. I rely heavily on my Quick Launch bar, and have shortcuts to every drive I access on a regular basis (along with many programs and various folders) all laid out for ease of access. Because of this, I didn't think I'd really benefit from Handy Folders sitting in the systray. I've left it, just to see if I would use it or not (I have, amazingly enough). One of the things I absolutely love about Handy Folders, though, is the functionality of Handy Folders withi ...

I'm sitting here watching old home movies from when I was a little girl. The quality is awful and there is no sound, but I'm still crying like a baby. There are clips from various holidays and major events, clips with my parents and grandparents and other relatives, clips with dogs we used to have and cars my parents used to drive, and eventually, clips with my sisters.I look at myself in a lot of these clips and I see Sophie and her cute little smile. I see what she'll be learning to do in the next few months, how she'll be running around even more so than she is now. In other clips, my heart bleeds because Sophie will never know my grandmother (miss you, Grandma!), she won't have a pile of leaves to jump in here as a toddler, and she won't get to play in snow with my Alaskan Malamute.I saw all of the old places we used to live with all of the old clothes we used to have (thankfully, they managed somehow to get lost) and all of the family with how the ...
Coupons, Coupons, Coupons!
2007-11-02 17:14:53
Christmas is right around the corner now that Halloween is over. There are only 52 shopping days left until Christmas. This stresses me out, believe it or not. I know I still have almost two whole months, but with the way things have been going, 52 days really isn't all that long. This year my sisters, parents, and I have all decided we're drawing names for gift giving, and we're giving for couples instead of individuals. This way we can focus on the kids. I really need to get started on this. Of course, my sisters don't want to pick names until they're all in the same room together, which is fine for them but stinks for me. I don't mind so much that I won't be there to pick the names, but more that I have to wait until Thanksgiving to get my shopping done. It's going to drive me insane! Thankfully, only one gift has to wait this year, unless I can't get B to tell me what he wants early enough again. The promo codes at Coupon Chief ...

I have about a thousand things I've started to say here, but I wind up erasing everything I've typed so far. Most of what I had typed was either not post worthy or was just stupid hormonal rants, and I just don't want to read that later.I have a headache and heartburn. Sophie has been pretty good for the most part today, but when she's not good she's just absolutely awful. Chui has been about the same. Cass came and picked up the soup and bread. It dawned on me that I included butter for the bread but no salad dressing for the salad. I also should have made cookies or muffins or something. I really could have done a better job with that. There are more Mom Pack posts to come. I have one about children's safety products to post (I absolutely love these, seriously), as well as a Mary Kay post and a scrapping post. There's one on child modeling as well as one on family games. I believe there are a few more than that, but I'm not entirely ce ...
