Switch-a-Room (tm) picture dump
2007-12-01 03:06:59
I should really be in bed or cleaning, but I'm sitting here doing the picture dump I promised. This post is of the big switch-a-room. Most of the pictures show the absolute mess that invaded my home for about a week. The room being painted is the old office. I wish I had taken pictures of the floor before I steam vacced in there because it was nasty. Neither the office nor the guest room are finished, but the guest room is getting closer day by day. I think I will have to order curtains online since I haven't been able to find the size I want in the stores yet. The office will be painted eventually and we'll have new furniture in there as well, but that won't be anytime soon. The guest room just needs a few more accents and we're done in there. The only other thing we really want to change in there is the flooring, but it's fine for now. I will need to go back and repaint the trim at some point because like the idiot I can be, I patch-painted wi ...

Trusted Tours and Attractions
2007-11-28 00:27:36
Ever since watching Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil I have wanted to visit Savannah. It's quite an interesting town, from what I've read and heard. Savannah is quite unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Maybe when Sophie is older we'll take a trip out that way.Trusted Tours and Attractions would be a place for me to start when I decide to plan a trip to Savannah. There are so many things to see and do, I don't want to chance missing something unique because I didn't do my research. I already plan to take the Walk Through Midnight tour of Savannah, but there are others I possibly would add to my list.Even though I've been to Niagara Falls and Chicago, I would be interested in taking a guided tour of some sort in both of those places. I lived in Chicago for two years (well, north of Chicago, but spent enough time in the city to call it home) and know there are things I missed. There's so much to take in! With Niagara, once ...
Please Put a Penny in the Old Man's Hat

The Christmas dishes were washed Friday, but other than that, nothing was done except a lot of unpacking. It took me all day yesterday to get the lights on the tree. That was the only thing I got done yesterday for decorations, but it took such a long time because I lit the tree as I was putting it together. It is so worth it and looks wonderful. I've already popped the popcorn and gotten the cranberries out of the refrigerator for stringing today. At some point I'll need to clear the dining room table again. I'll probably start putting out the rest of the decorations since they're all over the table and then wait on the cranberries and popcorn. I plan to at least get the old Halloween tree off of the shelf in the living room. We've been listening to Christmas music pretty much non-stop (except when Signing Time is on, of course) and I have to admit, I have some crazy stuff. I have no idea how it got into my folders, but it needs to go. Maybe someday I w ...
Family Fun

I've caught a few issues of this magazine, but the website for Family Fun is too cool to go unmentioned. Parents, teachers, and other child-care providers can search for activities by age group. I love it! :) ...

Well, all my running around trying to find a school for Sophie and my interviewing and all was for naught. I am behind on cleaning (and blogging) due to shopping for interview clothes (although I'm ready for the next one now), interviewing (on the phone and in person), and touring schools (technically we only toured one, but I was at that particular school twice and started researching other schools online as well), and I don't even get a job out of the deal. It's funny, when the recruiter called me, I wasn't actively looking for a job, although it had been discussed. Once he convinced me that I was the right person for the job, I was all for it. By the time I reached the face to face interview, I was actually excited about the prospect of working for this particular company and knew I was a perfect candidate. However, the powers that be apparently disagreed and they've gone and hired someone else for the job. I think my real hunt for a job will start in ...
Digital Photography Review
2007-11-20 09:18:11
Digital Photography Review is one of the most informative sites I've seen for digital photography questions. I wish the site had been around when I was searching for my camera. I bought mine because of its size, and I'm happy with the one I have now, but I really went in blind. I bought two cameras prior to the Casio Exilim I have now and returned them both. For those of you photographers (amateur or professional) out there, have you ever used this site before? What other sites do you like to use for camera information? For those of you who have no clue when it comes to cameras (like me), how did you make the decision to purchase the camera you currently own? If you don't own a digital camera yet, are you planning to buy one? Will you be researching prior to making your purchase?I'm full of questions today. :) ...
Want an Adventure?
2007-11-19 10:36:14
This is so cool! I think I might actually be able to find a unique gift for B that he will enjoy at Excitations. They have lists of adventures which can be sorted by region and price. I'm going to look for a driving adventure for him. Hopefully they'll have something near us that he will enjoy. This is probably the most excited I've been about a gift idea. I haven't even picked a gift yet, but I know he would love something like that. Fingers crossed I can find something that will fit our super tight budget right now. ...
Switch-A-Room (TM)
2007-11-19 10:04:00
Our innerwebs was down this weekend due to the big Switch-A-Room (TM). We have made much progress, but we are still far from being finished. The new office is close to being done, although we still have lots to unpack and set up. It looks so cool now that it's in the bigger room. The new guest room has been painted in Lost Atlantis (not one of the original choices I posted) and I absolutely love it. I have to find my camera to take a picture, but we're not done yet, so I might just wait. We will be applying a Candlelight top coat (Ralph Lauren) tonight and hopefully moving furniture in tomorrow night. We might paint trim tomorrow night, though. I seriously can't wait to have this room done. Not only do I think it will look incredibly awesome, but I'm sick and tired of having furniture and boxes scattered through my dining room and hallway.Saturday night, before all of the painting, I spent over four hours steam-cleaning the carpet in the new guest room. Th ...

Apparently Google hates me so much now I don't even have a page rank. Talk about confidence boosters... that's more like a confidence buster. What the heck? The interview today was... okay. Things seemed to be going along fine and then at the abrupt end of the conversation (this was with the president of the company), I was thanked for coming in, bid a good day, and walked out. No mention of "we'll call you" or "we'll be making a decision" or anything like that. The interview ended just shy of the hour so I'm curious to know if he had another meeting to attend. I was five minutes late but the recruiter was to have called to let them know (Sophie slept a lot later than I imagined she would). The president also had an old copy of my resume (the recruiter was supposed to have sent them the new copy). I'm not sure if either of these things damaged my chance or not... we'll see.I checked out a daycare center right after the interview and must admit ...

Will wonders never cease? I am currently in the process of dumping pictures off of my camera. I will probably be sharing them later, providing there's actually time. I need to go shopping. I realized today I have no pants that are appropriate for a business casual setting (unless they're so casual they wear jeans). I also have no shoes that fit. . I have heartburn like nobody's business. >:( I did my first mystery shop last night (well, B did it, really). I'm hoping this gives me the opportunity to grab more! I will probably stop at Central Market tomorrow on the way home from the interview so I can pick up the turducken. Speaking of interviews, my face to face is tomorrow! I meet with the IT Director and the COO of the company. Perhaps this could explain the heartburn. I still need to order my niece's birthday gift, but that should be done today. I need to do a serious search on daycare. I have a couple links that will help me do this sear ...
