Way to go, me!
2007-12-15 19:21:34
So I was right about the lights in that it was the GFCI that was tripped. Unfortunately, that ground fault circuit interrupter is located behind the refrigerator in the garage, which means the fridge is on that GFCI and hasn't been working since last Tuesday. The contents of the fridge itself (extra beverages) are fine, but the meat in the freezer has to go (and there was a LOT of meat in the freezer). I guess the good thing about this is I have lots of room for our next Dream Dinners session now.Merry Christmas to our friends who are lucky enough to live close by. ...

Apparently I've had a low-grade fever for the past few days. I knew I have been feeling flush lately, but didn't realize there was a fever to accompany that until I took my temperature this afternoon. It's hovering around 99/100° F. I know it's not terribly high or anything, but I'm a little concerned that I've had it for a while now. I haven't really felt ill, but just haven't had as much energy as I normally do and wind up sleeping a little later than usual. Looks like I'll be calling Dr. Hoffman on Monday to see if I can get in to see him. I really should start going to the office closer to me, but I love my doctor too much. All I can say is, this is certainly not the time for a fever. I do not have time to get sick right now. I hope this is as bad as it gets.Completely unrelated to being sick, why is it that some underwire bras are fine all day long and then all of a sudden the underwire starts poking into the armpit? How anno ...

Last night Sophie and I went to Target just so we could get out of the house. She was so well behaved I didn't even realize what time it was when we were checking out. I had two people mention to me she looked tired, but that was only when I wasn't looking at her, of course. I noticed it was about 8:30 when we checked out (past her bedtime) and knew she still hadn't had dinner (we had a late lunch). I figured since Chili's was in the same parking lot that we might as well just stop there. Apparently everyone else and their brother had the same idea. The wait was 20-25 minutes! I tried to get her back in her car seat so we could just come home, but she would have nothing to do with that at all, so we walked to the Burger King next door.Yes, I win the mother of the year award for this one. I fed my 19 month old daughter chicken nuggets and French fries for dinner. How pathetic! She also got her first taste of mayonnaise (quite sneakily, I might add) and ketc ...
Hotels, anyone?
2007-12-14 16:35:07
When looking for a hotel, look no further than Hotel Reservations. They are your one stop shop for all your hotel booking needs. Be careful while browsing their site as some of their links don't work in certain places (or don't work in Firefox), but I found they have air and car travel as well, which makes life so convenient. I'm not sure how they compare to Orbitz or Expedia or Travelocity, but it never hurts to shop around. ...

I am so far behind this year. I haven't sent Christmas cards, made cookies, candies, or other edible gifts, or even made a Christmas wallpaper yet! At least I'm making progress on the gifts I'm giving the girls. I have a few photos up in the craft blog if anyone is interested. Nothing major, but a few progress photos and notes. I might have a finished blanket tonight, but I can't make any promises. ...
Bored?

Looking for a place for quick games (and not so quick games)? I used to play at Pogo all the time and would recommend them to anyone. I like the way they're set up better than Yahoo! or MSN.Like I have time to be bored, though... ...

My parents leave town Tuesday morning but are staying at my in-laws Monday night to hitch a ride with my mother-in-law to the airport so I don't have to wake Sophie at the butt crack of dawn. I feel awful for doing this, and it wouldn't have to be this way if B were home and going into the office that day, but he's in New York City right now. After the weekend Sophie's had, I don't really want to drag her around when she should be sleeping unless I absolutely have to. Apparently she's still teething and because of this and the whole bang head on wall incident on Friday she's been terribly whiny today. The fleece is all trimmed and pinned and ready to be fringed for knotting. It took me a little longer to do it than I expected, but that's okay. The fringe part should be fairly quick, and the knotting is very mindless. I can do the knotting while playing with Sophie if I work it just right. The fringe I'll probably do tomorrow night afte ...

This is my current favorite photo of Sophie. My mother took this with her camera phone (Sanyo Katana) and the only thing I would have changed would be to get the whole tree and a little less blur, but that simply wasn't possible with that camera, I'm sure. No matter what, I still love this picture. ...

Sophie decided she needed to take a digger in the hallway today and landed right on the corner of the wall where the hall meets the kitchen. The poor kid has a bruise over her right eye and on her right cheek. I called the doctor's office to make sure they had this fall on record, but also to find out what signs I needed to watch for as far as a concussion was concerned. She was pretty well behaved today and seemed to be acting like nothing happened but I noticed her pupils were not the same size. Of course, I didn't notice this until the doctor's office had already closed. My mother, Sophie, and I all sat at the CareNow for an hour before they finally told us they didn't have a CAT scan machine. At that point, I dragged everyone home to change a "shewy" diaper, grab some food for the baby and me, grab B, and then head off to Cook Children's in Fort Worth. She was still very well behaved, even with a few bouts of serious tears when having to deal with al ...
Remember what?
2007-12-05 22:25:48
I'm not sure if I've ever shared just how forgetful I can be, but it's pretty rough at times. Poor B asked me to get lights while I was out shopping with my mother the other day and I completely forgot. It's quite annoying, to be honest. I found a site tonight that actually helps people like me remember even the most mundane things. Remember the Milk is perfect for people like me! I imagine I will use it heavily once I start working again. My only problem will be to remember to use it! ...
Yay for clean teeth!
2007-12-05 22:20:40
I have to share one of the coolest products I have received for testing. About a week ago, I received a Phillips Sonicare FlexCare toothbrush in the mail and I have been using it ever since. I have to admit, I absolutely love it. I have never enjoyed using an electric toothbrush but this one is amazing! It gets my teeth so clean! It also has a nifty UV sanitizer attached to it. If anyone you know is in the market for a good electric toothbrush, I seriously recommend the FlexCare. I will be buying replacement heads shortly so B can share the awesome "dentist-like cleaning" I have been able to enjoy over the past week. I just need to remember to head over to Amazon.com to order them (found them a little bit less expensive there than anywhere else so far). ...
Haven't done this since college...

So tired. Didn't sleep last night because I was up cooking and cleaning for the dinner we had today. My parents arrived this afternoon after a little snafu at the airport. Dinner tonight was excellent, although the turducken took a lot longer to cook than it should have because my refrigerator in the garage apparently is set too low and didn't thaw it completely. Oops. Thankfully, I had appetizers (cheese, tiropita, stuffed mushrooms, etc.), so the natives were kept under control. I wound up skipping the asparagus because I was so tired and didn't want to stand at the stove (for what, all of five minutes it takes to cook it?), but we had plenty of other food (cherry Waldorf salad, pink cloud, orange stuff, sweet potatoes, rolls, olives, etc.). Dessert was a big hit as well. I made a pumpkin pie and a pumpkin cheesecake and both turned out well. The lack of sleep was totally worth it.I failed to take pictures of the food, but I took pictures of the dining room ta ...

I have been busy lately. Between that and just generally not being in an LJ mood, I haven't really been posting or commenting much lately. I have been reading as much as possible from my phone, but Sophie has decided to get picky when I'm putting her down at night, so I usually wind up missing posts. I feel awful for it, but this is the way things are right now.The tree is missing one or two ornaments because I can't find the box of ornament hangers that I swear I had when I unpacked all my Christmas decorations. It's also missing a star on the top. Other than that, it looks great. There are two ornaments Sophie is allowed to touch without anyone around, and she knows which ornaments they are (pointed them out to Grandma). I have a set of red bells and a set of green bells, both hung low on the tree so she can reach, that she's allowed to jingle, and believe me, she does jingle them. Every morning on her way out of the bedroom, she greets the Christmas ...
Sophie photo dump
2007-12-01 03:24:36
There really aren't many pictures in this dump. I probably have some somewhere else that I wanted to dump, but this is all I can handle tonight. The first two are from Thanksgiving (yes, we got snow that day - pretty big flakes, too). The next one is from the day after, I think. The last one is of our vicious attack dog, Chui. He's really just yawning. What a bum. ...
