2008-01-03 11:03:24
Air mattresses are a great addition to any household, whether you choose to use them as an extra bed for unexpected guests or cushion a hard ground while on a camping trip. Many air mattresses come with their own built in air pumps, allowing you to inflate them in seconds without a great deal of huffing and puffing. Furthermore, air mattresses of today are unlike their fragile, brittle ancestors that probably popped, split, or leaked immediately after use. Although the instructions on air mattresses should still be followed to prevent any problems from potentially occurring, air mattresses tend to be durable enough to hold even the most rambunctious child. If you are choosing an air mattress for camping purposes, consider your options to ensure you choose a mattress that best suits your needs. First, look to the size of your tent to make sure that the air mattress you choose will indeed fit into the enclosure. The History of Holiday Decorating
2007-12-26 17:19:10
Where do those holiday decorating traditions come from and what is the symbolism behind them?Decorating for the holidays has become as enmeshed in American culture as have both Jesus and Santa Claus, but where do those traditions come from? It might be surprising to some that they often came from other religions. The Tree. Probably the most ubiquitous of all holiday decorations is the Christmas tree. For simplicity's sake, we'll dump boughs and fresh garland into this category as they have the same origins. The Roman Saturnalia religion used evergreen boughs and clippings to decorate homes during the winter seasons. As part of their holiday ceremonies, they also gave gifts and had feasts. When the Roman Catholic church chose to celebrate Christmas at the same time of year some of the rituals carried over. The tree was not an easy transfer though; early rulers didn't like the symbol and thought it too reminiscent of Saturnalias. But the tradition continued and became wildly popular in ...

2007-12-21 08:32:38
When we left off last week, we had removed the old wood sash windows and prepared the opening for the vinyl replacement windows. Now its time to install your new windows. You should have someone there to help you when doing the installation. First, Remove all shipping materials from the window. Now, if you are installing several different sizes, make sure you are putting the correct window in the correct opening. You need to put the window into the opening to make sure its going to fit, then remove it and run a bead of caulk on the face of the outside blind stop where the window will rest. You dont want to caulk, only to discover the windows are too big. Its worth the extra few minutes to make sure its going to fit. Lift the window and set the bottom in first. Then raise the top until it rests against the outside blind stops. Sometimes, when raising the top into position, the window frame will hit the top of the wood frame. You need to tap down on the top of the vinyl frame while keepi ...

Decorating a Child's Room with Tropical Themes
2007-12-21 08:25:08
When I think of decorating a childs room tropically, I immediately think decorating with palm trees, sand, and mischievous monkeys. A good way to begin this transformation is to go to a local craft store and look at the wall adhesives. Most of the wall-paper like pictures easily stick to the wall, are movable, and leave little or no residue when your child decides he or she wants a change. If wall adhesives arent your style, or you want to make the wall a little more three dimensional, then you can take simple acrylic paint and create the palm trees (which are very easy to create for a child). After the walls are done, find either green bedding or bedding with pictures on it that will mesh well with those that you have chosen for the walls. If you cannot find bedding that you and your child think will work, go to the fabric section and look for the childrens fabrics. Usually there will be several tropically themed fabrics to choose from. If you dont want to make the sheets you can alwa ...
