You Are Special - Red Plate
2007-12-14 16:53:00
I am so excited to finally be able to show you that I'm giving 'The Red Plate' tradition as my friend gifts this year! They were so easy to make. You can order the white vinyl lettering for $2.00 on Executive Homemaker.Basically how the tradition works, is that you use the 'You are Special' red plate at meal time when someone accomplishes something, gets a good grades, has a birthday, etc.I made it out of a red charger and vinyl lettering, so you can't eat, dishwash, or microwave this one. But it was easy on the budget and a wonderful tradition I'm excited to start with my family.I made these cute red and white place mat purses to put them in. They were so easy and only $1.97 at Walmart. You can print out the directions for the place mat purses and the 'The Red Plate' for free on Executive Homemaker.I feel like I'm giving more than a gift this year. I'm giving warm memories, and hopefully, a tradition that will last generations to come.I hope you'll pass on this special tra ...

Homemade Christmas Traditions
2007-12-11 21:16:00
We have several homemade Christmas traditions in our family that I've also made and given as gifts. I already posted this on my personal blog, but I thought you Ladies might enjoy it as well. Here's a few of them:Felt Nativity Hand Puppets: Several years ago I made these hand puppets at a Super Saturday craft day at my church. They were so easy!! We don't have enough people in our family to act out the Nativity - so this is our alternative.Laminated Finch Family Nativity: This is my favorite Christmas gift to make for friends with small kiddos. Print out the "Away in Manger" project in the The Best of Family Home Evening CD on card stock, cut, and laminate.Since I have a terrible voice, I made a CD of all the songs to go with it. I put wrote the corresponding songs and CD track # on the back of each one as well as a Velcro dot. My boys pick a Nativity character and we sing along with the CD. You can also print out all the words to the songs here.I've used this for so many things: Fa ...

New Christmas Traditions
2007-12-10 10:34:00
I've been really focusing on starting some fun but different family traditions this year during the Christmas season. Here are some that I've been impressed with:Keri and her family have the tradition of Stocking Letters. They write notes to each other, including parents, and put them in each other’s stockings. They are to write one letter a day and make sure that they end up writing at least one letter to each family member. You get to read them on Christmas morning.I think this is such a wonderful tradition because it's nice for siblings to focus on the positive things they like about each other.Dawn over at The Feathered Nest, made a Wish Bottle for her family tree. She repurposed an old spice bottle and decorated it.You hang your little Wish Bottle on your Christmas tree. Inside, rolled up, is a small piece of paper that you can jot down your wishes for Christmas just for that special someone to walk by and see! They can pull your wish list out, tuck it in their pocket and the ...

2007-12-07 12:02:00
Can you say, "DARLING!"? I'm tempted to purchase one of these hats for my little guy and pretend he's a girl for an afternoon. Just kidding... sort of. {{wink}}Executive Homemaker is proud to announce it's newest Mom-prenuer, Pretty Peanut Shells! These hats are both beautiful and functional. Because of the forgiving stretch of the crochet design, these hats will stay comfortably on your peanut’s head. The yarn is a baby soft, light-weight acrylic allowing your peanut to comfortably wear them inside and out.The Belli's are each handmade and they are securely fastened to a “bend and snap” style barrette. This feature allows you to change the Belli to match your peanut’s outfit. If you go indoors and wish to remove the hat, you can place the lovely Belli in your peanut’s hair for instant adorable style. You can mix and match and they make a great gift! There are tons of styles to choose from, click here to get more information and to place an order. This would make such a beau ...
