Pregnancy Stages: Last Trimester
2007-10-21 00:32:08
Once a woman has reached the pregnancy stages, last trimester, she becomes increasingly eager for the birth. The fetus has accomplished most of its development. All the facial features are obvious. The fingers and toes are well-formed. In fact, it is even possible for the fetus to suck its thumb at this stage.
Much of what happens during this last trimester strengthens what already exists. For example, the lungs have now been completely formed and the fetus could begin breathing air if it had to. The additional few weeks of the pregnancy will allow those tiny lungs to develop and strengthen even more, limiting the possibility of early breathing problems.
The brain of the fetus is also developing. The basic components of the brain now exist, but it is smooth and doesn't have the wrinkles that are generally associated with brain development. The last several weeks of the pregnancy stages, last trimester allow the brain time to grow, curving in upon itself, thus developing the famili ...

Childbirth footage
2007-10-19 19:30:08
Taking childbirth footage is a personal choice. Many women and men want the birth of their baby to be something they can watch and share. Other people don't want to videotape their childbirth but may want to experience watching someone else's birth. Some people make a private video while others are happy to show it to other people. There are many places online where childbirth footage is available to view or download. Regardless of your personal choice, the information online can be helpful to you in many ways.
Perhaps you want to view childbirth footage for educational purporses. Or, you might be fascinated about the process due to being pregnant yourself. Many women in the planning stage want to prepare for their own childbirth so watching childbirth footage can be like homework for them. A childbirth video can give you insight into situations such as breach births, c-sections, multiple births or even just the process in general. There's also an emotional element to wa ...

Reasons And Causes Of Miscarriage
2007-10-19 15:30:06
It can be difficult to pinpoint causes of miscarriage. While the vast majority of miscarriages are caused by factors out of your control, it can still be a difficult thing to overcome. Some people feel that they need to understand the causes of miscarriage to be able to heal and move on. The fact is that most times, a doctor is not specifically sure why this occurs.
Many women suffer miscarriage in the first trimester of pregnancy. Many women miscarry without even knowing it because it happens so early. Today, with the presence of accurate early home pregnancy tests, more women are aware of miscarriages because of the early testing. Some women suffer multiple miscarriages through no fault of their own and for no evidence-based reason.
Causes of miscarriage are most often attributed to chromosome or genetic defects in the embryo that cause it to be unable to survive. This is not something that anyone can predict and not something that can be corrected. This is of little consolation to t ...

Pregnancy Exercise Guidelines
2007-10-19 00:45:07
For Both Your Health, and Your Baby's, Follow These Pregnancy Exercise Guidelines!
Recent studies confirm that regular exercise before, during, and after pregnancy, decreases the risk of a myriad of health problems for both the mother and child, but it is important to know what types of exercises are appropriate, and so you can follow pregnancy exercise guidelines to benefit you both! Research has proven a direct correlation between birth weight and health of the baby and exercise, but has also proven a positive link between exercise and maternal health, especially concerning pregnancy related hypertension, preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes, which has been proven to be an indicator of the development of type two diabetes in the mother's later in their lives.
In addition, mothers who exercise before becoming pregnant, and follow pregnancy exercise guidelines establishing good exercise routines during pregnancy, tend to have more positive birthing experiences, in which la ...

Pro-Life: Against Abortion
2007-10-16 14:00:29
The term "Pro-Life" is central to the debate of the validity of abortion. Pro-Lifers are generally against all types of Induced Abortion, both Therapeutic Abortion and Elective Abortion. They feel that human life begins at conception, and that every stage of this life, from embryo to fetus to newborn, has a right to life.
People who are against abortion believe that more growth and change in physicality occurs in the gestational period before birth than occurs throughout the rest of a person's life. Within the first three weeks, basic biological set up for the brain, spinal cord and nervous system begin to develop and the heart begins to beat. In the next few weeks, the baby forms limbs, lungs, eyes, musculature, and eventually begins to move. At five months, the mother can feel the baby kick; at six months, the baby can hear; at seven months, the baby's eyes open and it can see. They are also against abortion because they believe it can be painful for the baby.

Tips for Filming Your Childbirth Video
2007-10-15 14:00:06
A childbirth video is something that is a personal memento of an important event in your life. When deciding to do this, it's important to talk about it before hand so that everyone involved gets the result they are looking for. It may be important to you and your spouse that you have your childbirth video for you to look back on. The birth of your child is a big thing, regardless of how many children you have and having a childbirth video can be something that you share with your children when they grow up.
When deciding to film a video, it's important that you talk to your spouse or childbirth coach about exactly what you want in the childbirth video. You may want all the graphic details or you may only want footage that does not include the actual crowning of the baby's head. It's important that your wishes are known so that the moments you want captured will be there on tape for you. It's a good idea to discuss in detail what you want filmed.

Help for getting over a miscarriage
2007-10-15 12:00:07
Getting over a miscarriage physically will usually not take a great amount of time, but getting over the psychological effects of a miscarriage can be a longer process. Getting over a miscarriage can be a difficult time, but one way that many women have found to ease their mind is to learn about what has happened to them. What exactly is a miscarriage? What causes a miscarriage?
Miscarriages are actually not an uncommon way for a pregnancy to end. One of the most frequent causes of pregnancy complications are miscarriages themselves. Most miscarriages occur in the first trimester or first twelve weeks of the pregnancy. No matter when a miscarriage occurs, getting over a miscarriage can become easier by understanding what a miscarriage is. A miscarriage, also known as a spontaneous abortion, is the loss of a pregnancy before twenty weeks gestation.
What causes a miscarriage? A miscarriage can be the result of a natural or accidental pregnancy termination. Understanding what caused you ...

Myths of Getting Pregnant in Water
2007-10-14 23:45:09
It is fascinating to study the multiple forms of folklore that has sprung up over the generations in relation to body functions. Pregnancy has always been a target for old wives' tales and myths. The interesting thing is that many of these stories are at least in part, based in truth. Take for example the myth surrounding getting pregnant in water. On one hand, stories circulate that it is more likely to get pregnant while in water, even without actual intercourse because the little sperm guys are notoriously good swimmers. The other school of thought is that water dilutes the semen to such a degree as to make pregnancy impossible. With these myths, as with all others, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
It is possible to get pregnant while in the water. It isn't recommended as a method to increase your chances however. Even with boring old missionary position, chances aren't 100% anyway. Add in to that sperm are sensitive to water temperature and any chemicals in th ...

2007-10-14 20:00:18
Understanding each stage of pregnancy is incredibly important, especially if you are planning to or already are pregnant. As well, it is certainly exciting to watch each stage of pregnancy, as you will get to see your baby grow and make note of and track the changes as they take place.
What is Each Stage of Pregnancy?
There are basically three different stages of pregnancy, which are: the first, second, and third trimester. Basically, the first trimester of pregnancy lasts for three and a half months, and it is during this stage of pregnancy where you may experience morning sickness, as well as sore and enlarged breasts.
It is this stage of pregnancy in which it is vital that you get enough vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, as they are essential for the growth and development of the baby. In regards to nutrition and exercise, it is important that you: receive at least 2200 calories a day; eat well balanced, healthy meals which contain adequate fiber as to promote that of baby's h ...

Society and Teenage Pregnancy in Jamaica
2007-10-14 08:45:06
Rates of teenage pregnancy in Jamaica are among the highest in the Caribbean, with the birth rate for 15-19 year olds at 108 births per 1,000 women. Forty-five percent of all Jamaican women who are 15 to 24 years old have been pregnant by 19 years of age, and 41% have given birth. Females between the ages of 10 and 19 account for roughly 25% of all births in Jamaica and about 22% of births in 15-19 year-olds are second births.
There are a number of consequences to teenage pregnancy in Jamaica. First of all, the education of the adolescent mother is disrupted and often completely ended. Indeed, only 36% of teenage mothers complete more than four years of secondary school, compared to 50% of girls who never become pregnant. The mother, then, is severely limited in her job opportunities. Furthermore, parents and society in general will not look kindly upon a young girl who has engaged in sexual activity at a young age, and often a girl is disowned and must support herself and her child al ...

Symptoms of Pregnancy
2007-10-14 02:00:10
The key to determining if there is something going on medically is a matter of knowing your own body in many cases. This is especially true for a woman questioning the possibility of a pregnancy. She will know when her body isn't behaving as it usually does and will probably know the reason sooner than a missed period. At least, she will more than likely suspect the happy news. The symptoms of pregnancy are like every pregnancy, they vary and are likely to be different for each woman each time she has a baby. While no two babies are just alike neither is the pregnancy that got them here.
It is interesting how some symptoms of pregnancy are so small they almost don't register with the mother to be. Feelings of fatigue are often attributed to a lot of stress or heavy workload. Morning sickness gets blamed on a virus going around. Missing a period is a pretty solid indicator though. Of course, certain disorders or stress can cause a woman to miss her period, but usually a MIA pe ...

How Breast Milk Is Made
2007-10-13 22:14:50
If you've every been pregnant or if you are pregnant now, you've probably noticed a metamorphisis in your bra cups. The physical changes (tender, swollen breasts) may be one of the earliest clues that you have conceived. Many experts believe that the color change in the areola may also be helpful when it comes to breast feeding.
What's going on Perhaps what's even more remarkable than visible changes is the extensive changes that are taking place inside of your breasts. The developing placenta stimulates the release of estrogen and progesterone, which will in turn stimulate the complex biological system that helps to make lactation possible.
Before you get pregnant, a combination of supportive tissue, milk glands, and fat make up the larger portions of your breats. The fact is, your newly swollen breasts have been preparing for your pregnancy since you were in your mother's womb!
When you were born, your main milk ducts had already formed. Your mammary glands s ...

The Causes For Early Miscarriages Are Not Always Easy To Determine
2007-10-12 20:30:07
Unfortunately, causes for early miscarriages can be difficult to ascertain. While miscarriage is a common complication that ends pregnancies and occurs often before a woman even realizes that she is pregnant, determining the reason for miscarriage can be difficult, if not impossible.
Most causes for early miscarriages revolve around genetic abnormalities in the embryo that make it non-viable. In most cases, there was nothing the pregnant woman did wrong to cause a miscarriage and nothing medically could have been done to prevent that miscarriage from happening. Miscarriages are so common that it's not unusual for a couple to suffer the loss of more than one pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.
While more than half of all causes for early miscarriages revolve around genetic reasons or chromosomal abnormalities, most women have no problem having a successful pregnancy despite one or two miscarriages. When a woman has three consecutive miscarriages, she is considered as havi ...

An easy decision, smoking or breastfeeding?
2007-10-12 14:30:12
The decision between smoking or breastfeeding is easy, because smoking and breastfeeding are bad for mom and baby. Both will suffer the ill effects of the toxins and poisons contained in cigarettes. Even though the truth about smoking has been known for many years, many women continue to smoke during pregnancy and while they are breastfeeding. In fact, some women smoke during breastfeeding.
When it comes to smoking or breastfeeding, nursing mothers should know that it is a dangerous practice that should be avoided. The risk to the baby is compounded if the mother smokes more than 20 cigarettes per day. However, any amount of cigarette smoking is harmful to a baby. The more cigarettes a woman smokes, the more harmful the effects are to her baby.
For some nursing mothers, heavy smoking can reduce a mother's milk supply and on rare occasions can cause symptoms in the breastfeeding baby, including nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
Smoking or breastfeeding means that a ...

2007-10-11 23:00:07
Unlike the number of reasons someone ends up pregnant, one, the numbers of reasons a person may not get pregnant are many. All kinds of different factors play into a woman's overall reproductive health. Her lifestyle choices and those of her partner, her general health, and other factors often have an impact on not getting pregnant. If a baby is the ultimate goal, fortunately high quality medical help can increase the odds for conception. Some of the more well known risks to fertility include an abnormal weight, either too heavy or underweight, unhealthy lifestyle choices, and trying to conceive at the wrong times of the month. Here are a few that may not have occurred to a woman struggling to have a baby.
Obviously a regular period is a sign of a healthy, normal ovulation cycle. If a woman's periods aren't regular, the changes of not getting pregnant are much higher. Some diseases like thyroid problems and diabetes can affect period regularity. Another possible cause of ...
