Monday Mix #14 - 11/02/08
2008-02-11 07:52:00
Each Monday I'll be sharing (a lucky) 13 tracks that don't share a theme, they're just worth sharing. Obviously all of them are worth taking but just in case you're in a rush I'll flag the three you shouldn't leave without downloading in red and using a ***. :) This week I have some none typical love songs for you, apologies for the short descriptions, I'm writing this in my all too short lunch break... :) Track: Carissa's Wierd - All Apologies And Smiles, Yours Truly, Ugly ValentineTracknotes: Yep, VD on Thursday so I hung onto this for weeks to tie it in. It's such a good track though that it was really hard to not just keep raving about it. You need this wry, cute song in your life. Whether you have a Valentine or not. Track: Asobi Seksu - StrawberriesTracknotes: From the Citrus album comes this little lighthearted number. I've been playing it on my way into work now for a while so I wanted to share it with you. It's a sunny day today here in Leeds and this is a good sunn ...

Sweeney Todd
2008-02-07 15:25:00
So, saw this a couple of weeks ago and Depp makes a devliish barber. :)Track: Sweeney Todd OST - A Little PriestTracknotes: Helena Bonham Carter has an excellent sense of humour/timing on this track from the film. I know the stage show is better but this is a very amusing number and I liked the film's version. 'With the price of meat/What it is/When you get it/If you get it/Good, you got it...' ...

Monday Mix #13
2008-02-05 15:00:00
Each Monday I'll be sharing (a lucky) 13 tracks that don't share a theme, they're just worth sharing. Obviously all of them are worth taking but just in case you're in a rush I'll flag the three you shouldn't leave without downloading in red and using a ***. :) This week I have for you - Track: Aphex Twin - FlimTracknotes: I love AT and this is my favourite track. I know it's an odd choice and not really typical of the style most of the time but it is just so lush and dreamy in it's floaty way that I can't help but adore it. If you don't think you like Aphex Twin then you're in for a treat, go on try it. Tell me what you think after you've heard it...Track: Jenny Owen Youngs - Fuck Was ITracknotes: Anti-lovesong, knowing and wry... Indie style from America. I love Jenny's homepage, I always wanted to grow up to be a pirate. 'Maybe I'll be the lucky one that doesn't get burned/What the fuck was I thinking?'Track: Massive Attack - Safe From HarmTracknotes: I've been pla ...

Monday Mix #12
2008-02-02 04:32:00
Each Monday I'll be sharing (a lucky) 13 tracks that don't share a theme, they're just worth sharing. Obviously all of them are worth taking but just in case you're in a rush I'll flag the three you shouldn't leave without downloading in red and using a ***. :) Don't forget to scroll down as I am posting two mixes back to back today!Track: Tokyo Rose - Right As RainTracknotes: This track is my favourite TR track, it's full of young love, brash hope and bombastic romanticism. 'I've heard every word your mama says/She's right on all accounts but one/I'm right for you as rain.' ::swoon:: Oh yes. That works for me.Track: Ian Brown - Golden GazeTracknotes: I have to confess I never really liked The Stone Roses much but I like Brown's solo stuff. If you're craving a Mancunian indie fix this should scratch the itch. It's dark and soothing at the same time. 'Feel the haze and the smoke in the room/I caught your golden gaze'.Track: The Dykeenies - StitchesTracknotes: Who would ...

Monday Mix #11 - A little overdue!
2008-02-02 03:22:00
Each Monday I'll be sharing (a lucky) 13 tracks that don't share a theme, they're just worth sharing. Obviously all of them are worth taking but just in case you're in a rush I'll flag the three you shouldn't leave without downloading in red and using a ***. :) This week I have for you - Track: Saint Bernadette - I Own The CityTracknotes: I really, really love this song and have been singing it to myself for weeks since I first discovered it. If you like Client, Saint Etienne, Placebo I think you'll like this one too as it has elements of them all. 'I can find you/I own the city'.Track: Basia Bulat - Snakes And LaddersTracknotes: I'm a sucker for a soaring melody with a melancholic lyric. Bulat is from Canada and has a beautiful voice that really touches the heart with this sweet little number. 'It's not just a game/It's the way we come undone/I love the way we come undone.'Track: Kasabian - LSF (Lost Souls Forever)Tracknotes: British indie track, I have this on my Zen bu ...

Monday Mix #10 - 07/01/08
2008-01-06 18:01:00
Each Monday I'll be sharing (a lucky) 13 tracks that don't share a theme, they're just worth sharing. Obviously all of them are worth taking but just in case you're in a rush I'll flag the three you shouldn't leave without downloading in red and using a ***. :) This week I have for you - Track: Terrorvision - D'ya Wanna Go Faster?***Tracknotes: If I had to describe this with one word I would use 'speedfreakery'. Very fast, very addictive. In 2001 I was playing this *a lot*. I still am. Which makes it worth sharing. :) 'Late at night and all alone/Late night traffic's constant drone/A voice comes on the telephone/Yeah late at night and all alone/It tells me quicken up, pick up the pace.'Track: The Magnetic Fields - Crazy For You (But Not That Crazy)Tracknotes: From their album 69 Love Songs comes this snarky little gothy track. I was reminded of this when I saw they are supposed to have a new album out this month and are going on tour to promote it... 'Built a ship with my ...

06/01/08 - I Am Legend and the man who was
2008-01-06 03:25:00
So I went to see I Am Legend on 28/12/07 and have been meaning to post a couple of Bob Marlley tracks as a result ever since. In the film Will Smith thinks he is the last man alive on earth. He gets through the day with the love of a good dog and by playing a lot of Bob Marley which of course features heavily in the soundtrack (for more plot etc check the IMDB page). He also shares a couple of stories and reasons for being such a fan when he gets the chance to. It's not a bad movie but it's not great. Except. If it makes just a handful of new listeners find and love Marley's music then I am a very happy girl. I love Marley. I could post damn near every song he ever recorded and think of a reason why you should listen to it (though even I'll concede not all of them). Instead I figure I'll just go for my top three. Hey, it's Sunday and I know we all got things to do. :)Track: Bob Marley & The Wailers - Three Little BirdsTracknotes: This is the one that is played most in the mov ...

05/01/08 - World's Strongest Man, the album
2008-01-05 12:49:00
I love WSM. Try not to judge me. I'm reasonably smart otherwise. :)Anyways, I was scouting for TV listings for the show (it just finished last night and I am totally wowed by Mariusz Pudzianowski's 4th win) and I found this: The WSM Official Site which is currently advertising and allowing you to sample tracks from The World's Strongest Man Soundtrack... which includes the theme tune as well as tracks by Korn, Seether etc... there's a soundtrack I could never have imagined existed... ...

02/01/08 - A Little YouTube To Brighten The Day
2008-01-02 00:16:00
So we all have to go back to work today, right? It's cold out there and rainy and very, very dark. To try and improve the day here's a video that I was sent recently which amused me and I want to share:I have always loved that Daft Punk track. :) ...

Monday Mix #9 - 31/12/07
2007-12-31 09:05:00
Each Monday I'll be sharing (a lucky) 13 tracks that don't share a theme, they're just worth sharing. Obviously all of them are worth taking but just in case you're in a rush I'll flag the three you shouldn't leave without downloading in red and using a ***. :) This week I have for you - Track: Steve Smith - Hit Me Up***Tracknotes: He used to be with Dirty Vegas, now he's flying solo and this is a very enjoyable. It's going to be track 2 on his first solo album This Town which is due for release on 22/01/08. Promises good things.Track: Various Artists - Requiem For A JerkTracknotes: Faultline/Brian Molko/Francoise Hardy tribute to Serge Gainsbourg. I love this track and have played a lot in the last couple of months, Molko does most of the singing and his voice is almost perfect for this song. I like what they have done with the ending... 'Listen to the organ that I play for you/Since you've got no choice/Hear me through/You look as though you like it/But you seem reserved/It ...
