Big Boi Signs Syndication Deal With ABC 2007-08-07 02:11:40 Los Angeles morning show “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” inks a syndication deal with ABC Radio Networks and is set to launch between August 20 and Labor Day. Big Boy will go live on the east coast from 6-10am and will be live on the west coast from 6-10am. Big Boy’s morning team will include Luscious Liz Hernandez, Tattoo and producer Jason Ryan. The west coast broadcast adds Jeff Garcia. Senior VP/Radio Division Val Maki said, “We are thrilled that Big Boy and ABC have entered into an agreement. Given Big’s enormous talent it was inevitable that he move into the national syndication scene. Billboard Expands “Hot 100? List With Digital Downloads 2007-08-06 03:02:53 Billboard, the world’s most comprehensive source of music, digital data and events, today announced an expansion of its Hot 100 formula to include weekly streamed and on-demand music data to the chart’s traditional mix of sales and radio airplay. Keeping pace with the growth of digital delivery, Billboard’s franchise chart will be supplemented by weekly data from AOL Music and Yahoo! Music, two of the most prominent sources of online music. In the new Billboard Hot 100 formula, radio audience will average about 55% of the chart’s total points. Digital sales will account for about 40%, and streaming media will determine 5%. Physical singles–in line with the music industry’s retreat from that product over the past decade — will account for less than 1% of the chart’s new formula. Paperboy Plea Deal 2007-08-03 21:54:58 The prosecutor in the case of Mitchell Charles Johnson, also known as the rapper “Paperboy,” may be close to offering a plea deal to the Grammy-nominated rap star. Merced County Deputy District Attorney Steven Slocum said his office is considering an offer with Johnson, 34, who was arrested June 13 by Merced police for alleged marijuana possession. “But I’d rather not say what it is,” Slocum said. Johnson was in Merced Superior Court on Thursday for his preliminary hearing with his attorney, Fresno-based Salvatore Sciandra. Superior Court Judge Carol Ash postponed the hearing until Aug. 29 because Sciandra requested police reports. Sciandra said he would also like more time to review the case. Police pulled Johnson over in his black 1990 Honda on the 2900 block of G Street in Merced, according to Cmdr. Tom Martin of the Merced Police Department. Man Killed By Dogs At Ving Rhames’ House 2007-08-03 21:41:50 Two mastiffs at the home of Ving Rhames apparently mauled a 40-year-old man to death Friday, authorities said. The victim, who hasn’t been identified, had worked at the actor’s home for about two years and was responsible for caring for the dogs, said Los Angeles Police officer Sandra Gonzalez. Animal services seized four mastiffs, she said. “Two of those dogs appeared to be responsible for the tragic death,” Officer Jason Lee said. Several more dogs were left at the property. Police got a call at 7:15 a.m. from someone reporting a dead body at the home in Brentwood. Gonzalez did not know who made the call. Authorities said the victim was found on the front lawn, and Lt. Ray Lombardo said at a news conference later that the man had many bites and scratches “which appear to be dog bites.” Rhames, 46, who appeared in the “Mission: Impossible” series of films, was not at home when the attack happened, she said.
