T.I. Denied Bail; Bail Hearing To Be Held Friday
2007-10-15 17:55:42
Rapper T.I., who was arrested over the weekend on federal weapons charges, was ordered to remain in custody at least until Friday, during a brief appearance in federal court Monday afternoon. But his attorneys say they aim to exonerate him on all charges.
A federal magistrate said he must remain in custody for now. Prosecutors are asking that T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., be held without bond until his trial, which could be several months away.
U.S. Magistrate Alan Baverman scheduled a hearing on Friday to determine whether there was probable cause for Harris’ arrest and whether he will qualify for bond before trial.
Harris was wearing a black shirt and black pants, with his hands cuffed and his legs chained, when he was led into the courtroom.
He made eye contact with family members and sat in front of them.
He answered “Yes, sir,” and “Yes, your honor,” when asked if he had been provided a copy of charges agaiinst him and whether he unde ...

Busta Rhymes Speaks On New Album
2007-10-15 14:35:17
Busta Rhymes has confirmed rumors that he will be releasing another LP on Aftermath. The album, tentatively titled Back on My BS, is scheduled for a December 4 release date. Rumors have circulated about the album, and Busta also made mention of it during an appearance on 106 & Park. While no lead single has been selected, Busta seems extremely excited about his Cool and Dre produced collaboration with Linkin Park, entitled “It Looks Like We Made It.” Busta gave Rolling Stone a few insights into the track.
“It feels like Rocky won the fight or something,” says Busta. “This song speaks volumes to the globe–it ain’t just about the ‘hood, it ain’t just about the suburbs, it’s about everybody. This is one of those songs that can’t be described better than touching the souls of the common people.”
While speaking on the album, Busta also hinted at a return to his earlier form saying, “People haven’t been ...

Jay-Z’s ‘American Gangster’
2007-10-14 08:34:07
At this point even the biggest Jay-Z hater has to admit that their excited about the promise of Jay’s new joint, American Gangster. As of right now two tracks have been leaked one being “Blue Magic” and the other “Roc Boys” (after the jump). It’s been said that the album will be reminiscent of “Reasonable Doubt” due to the more laid back approach Jay took towards making it (basically not having to deal with the pressure of putting out a radio friendly single). The producers involved in the project are Diddy & The Hitmen (I hope he don’t come with some “Press Play” bull shit), Pharrell, No I.D., Dj Toomp, and Timbaland are the more notable producers. Nas, Bilal, and Beanie Sigel are featured on the album. I ain’t the biggest Jay fan but to be honest im excited to hear this joint, might even be one of my top 10 rap albums of the year, we’ll see.

Lil Wayne Tracks Leaked Off The Carter III
2007-10-14 03:00:25
Personally I never thought Lil Wayne was all that dope of a rapper but listening to these tracks that are supposedly from “The Carter III”, I have to say that he has improved. Here we have not one, but TWO tracks, off “The Carter III” first the Franz Ferdinand sampled “Burn This City” featuring Twista which bumps hard as hell in the whip.
The second track, which is my favorite of the two, is “Do What We Do” after listening to it 5 times it just grew on me. The hook is catchy and not annoying like the other tracks I’ve heard from him, I could see this being a good first single or as a buzz single. And for a clubby track it’s suprisingly laid back.
“The Carter III” is slated to be released December 18, 2007.
The tracks after the jump.

Krs-One Says Kanye West Ain’t Hiphop
2007-10-13 13:21:41
First of all I want to make one thing clear I got a lot of love for Krs-One, I grew up on BDP and him so most definitely he has been a big influence on me. But this has been a reoccurring theme in our culture that makes us look dumb as hell and yet another reason us as musicians can’t really rise above all the bullshit. We continuously try to dictate what is and isn’t Hip-Hop, “oh they platinum that aint Hip-Hop” “they down with G-Unit that aint hip-hop” “they never rocked a hightop fade, they can’t be Hip-Hop”, when in reality who are we to define what Hip-Hop is. I think it’s funny to say that we are innovative but when something comes out the left field we talk it down and say it isn’t Hip-Hop, somebody else did it, or that their selling out. I like some crunk shit, I like that new Kanye West album and I like that 50 Cent joint too, but I also am feeling Little Brother’s shit. That is the point of Hip-Ho ...

New Zealand Politician Doesn’t Have No Love For Ice Cube
2007-08-07 11:25:10
An upcoming concert in Auckland, New Zealand featuring rapper Ice Cube has come under fire by a local politician who is running for Mayor.
Manukau mayorial candidate Len Brown is reportedly putting pressure on the CEO of the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau to cancel the August 22 performance, alleging that Ice Cube’s music promotes violence and gang culture that the youth will replicate.
“Ice Cube brings a gangsta message to our community via his gangsta rap,” Brown said in a statement. “This message promotes gangs, gang violence and drugs. We don’t want this in our homes. We don’t want it on our streets. Our community is taking a stand on these issues. There is massive energy and resource dedicated to getting on top of gang activity in many parts of South Auckland. For once we have a cohesive partnership of community, government and police working together to confront this challenge and move things forward for our young people. So let’s be ...

Daddy Yankee Sued For Copyright Infringement
2007-08-07 03:11:40
Reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee was recently hit with a lawsuit for copyright infringement. Victor M. Lopez, Jr., a Latin hip-hop songwriter and performer, alleges that Daddy Yankee used a musical composition he owns for use on “Salud Y Vida,” a track on his album, Barrio Fino which he has yet to be compensated for.
Lopez’s lawyer says that they were shopping the song for Barrio Fino, however when the deal fell through Daddy Yankee used it anyway.
If this turn’s out to be true you will be seeing dude on the side of the freeway, with his car broke down, screaming “Dame Mas Gasolina”. Eh ah well I dont like Reggaeton aside from the dime’s that dance to it other than that, it’s whatever, ya digg?
