Chris Brown Announces Winter Tour

Chris Brown will be headlining the show and Bow Wow will be co-headlining it. The Ford Presents UCP Holiday Exclusive Tour Powered By Sync In Association With BET Networks is scheduled to kick off in Cincinnati, OH on December 6th, 2007.

American Gangster Debuts At Number One; $46.3 Million In Sales

I haven’t had the chance to watch the movie yet but I’ve heard great things and will try to catch it this week. When I do i’ll write up a little review. It seems that the movie is inaccurate in some accounts though:
In actuality, as the BET documentary reveals, Lucas was illiterate and could not count. He helped keep his books by learning that 22 pounds of $100 bills amounted to $1 million. He not only killed people to impress his ruthlessness on the underworld, but even put out a murder contract on one of his own brothers, whom he had brought from North Carolina to work in the drug trade with him. Lucas squashed the contract only because another brother had been killed and the druglord did not want his mother to have to mourn for two dead sons at the same time. Always a family man.

Trey Songz Arrested Following Shooting

Trey Songz was arrested in Springfield, MA early sunday (Nov. 4) following a shooting outside a local venue. He was charged for as being disorderly and resisting arrest. Trey is out on a $500 bond.
The alleged shooter, 29-year-old Anthony Williams remains in custody, and is charged with assault and battery with a weapon, possession of a firearm without a license and assault with intent to murder.
As a sidenote: I never thought I’de see the day when dudes get shot at R&B shows, who would’ve thought?

E-40 Launches Vitamin Water Line, New Album On The Way

2007-2008 seem to be E-40’s years as he hosted the BET Awards in Atlanta, is celebrating 20 years in the game, and launching a Vitamin Water line. The Bay Area veteran rapper is launching his signature ‘40 water’ Vitamin Water line at his Las Vegas birthday bash later this month.
E-40 has been known to branch out of music into other businesses, a franchisee of Fat Burger and Wingstop Resteraunts, and also most recently signing a endorsement deal with Ice Picks a diamond studded toothpick company.
He will also be previewing his new album, The Ball Street Journal, at his birthday bash. It is slated to be released early 2008.
E-40’s birthday party will take place on November 15th at the Poetry Nightclub in Las Vegas.

Tattoo Clue In Jam Master Jay Slaying?

The gunman who killed hip hop icon Jam Master Jay has never been identified, but he has what could be a telltale characteristic — a tattooed neck, according to a witness.
Randy Allen noted the mystery gunman’s tattoo in a story Sunday in the Daily News, marking what the newspaper called his first extensive interview about one of the hip hop world’s legendary unsolved slayings.
Jay, whose real name was Jason Mizell, was shot dead in his Queens studio on Oct. 30, 2002. Despite a lengthy investigation and substantial reward, the case has been stymied by uncooperative witnesses, investigators say.
Allen, Mizell’s business partner, told the Daily News he had cooperated completely with investigators and was furious that others had not. “This is a case that can be solved,” he said.
Allen’s name has surfaced repeatedly in the case, as has that of his sister, Lydia High. Reports from four years ago indicated police placed her in protective custody. Recentl ...

J-Lo’s Demands Anger Epic Records

Jennifer Lopez might have to start looking for a new label if she wants to make another original record. A source close to Epic Records and Epic’s parent company, Sony BMG, says that the label is fed up not only with J.Lo’s paltry album sales, but with the amount of money it’s costing to promote the diva.
“She costs too much money and doesn’t sell enough,” says the source, who is familiar with the issue. “Her last album cover alone cost $60,000 in hair and makeup, lighting, photographers, re-touching, etc. The video budget was in the neighborhood of $300,000.”
And that’s just what it costs to get the album out the door. Lopez performed on “Good Morning America” earlier this month, and all the costs were absorbed by the label. “Epic had to eat the cost for that entire performance. From her makeup — which typically costs in the neighborhood of $8,000 per day — to the backup singers, to the rigging, lighting and sound,” says a source close to the Lopez camp. ...
