Lincoln Navigator Recruits Common For Marketing Campaign

Ford says that Common will appeal to consumers in their late 20’s and 30’s.
Common will help with making Navigator the brand “hipper and a little cooler”, specifically marketing the African-American demographic.
Marc Perry, multicultural marketing manager for Lincoln, said, “Lincoln is hoping Common will help Navigator overtake General Motors’ Cadillac Escalade as the most popular luxury SUV among African Americans”.
Common will be making appearances on behalf of Lincolns campaign. Lincoln has agreed to support Common’s nonprofit organiziation, the common Ground Foundation as well as tieing in ads with Common’s books, line of hats, and his live tour.

Rumor: Flipmode Squad No Longer With Busta Rhymes

Flipmode Squad’s Rampage is claiming that he and three other members of the original Flipmode Squad are severing ties with Busta Rhymes. “Rah Digga, Baby Sham, Spliff Starr, and myself. We just changed the name of the group and it’s now called FMS…FMS stands for Famous Millionaire Squad,” says Rampage.

Dime Piece Of The Week: Liza Irizarry

This weeks dime piece is the beautiful Liza Irizarry. She was born and raised in Washington Heights in New York City; to parents of Puerto Rican and Dominican decent. She has been featured in King, Stuff, Smooth, and Maxim magazine. Along with modeling she also is heavily involved in the music and film industry. She appeared in R&B singer Mario’s “Boom” video as one of the principles girls.

Saigon Debut Pushed Back To 2008

MTV’s Mixtape Monday reported that Saigon’s debut album has been pushed back to 2008. An exact date hasn’t been released for the album that was scheduled for December 4 previously.
“It’s nothing to wait another month or month and a half. … I’d rather wait for the new year than get caught up in that fourth-quarter congestion” Saigon tells MTV’s Mixtape Monday.
To help hold fans over till 2008 Saigon recently released a street album called The Moral of the Story featuring such songs as “Come On Baby” (Remix) feat. Jay-Z, “Who Can Get Busy” and “What A Life.”

T.I. Recording New Album While Under House Arrest

A representatve for T.I. says that he has already completed 6 tracks in his home studio. He hopes to release the album, which he is calling Paper Trail, September 2008. The title is refering to the fact that T.I. is writing his lyrics down, which he stopped doing after his 2001 debut, Im Serious. His last 4 albums including T.I. vs. T.I.P were created without the use of a pen or paper. His rep explains, “He wanted to take more time to really put something down [this time]”.

Kanye West’s Mother Passes Away

Donda West, mother of Kanye West and former chairwoman of Chicago State University’s English department, has died, a spokesman for the rapper said. She was 58.
Donda West died Saturday night in Los Angeles, said the spokesman, who asked for anonymity because not all family members had been notified. Her age was not immediately known.

Bernie Mac’s Back With New TV Project

Amid the writer’s strike, Fox has picked up a comedy project starring Bernie Mac that’s written by “The Drew Carey Show” creator Bruce Helford.
The show is described as a multi-camera comedy tentatively titled “Starting Under”. The Warner Bros. produced television show centers around a outspoken dad(Bernie Mac) who after a divorce winds up living with and working for his son.

BCC will be performing new material as well as songs from their past albums.
