Dr. Dre Creates Beats By Dr. Dre Headphones

Dr. Dre is making his introduction to the consumer electronics market with the release of his Beats By Dr. Dre headphones. The Doctor teamed up with Monster Cables and Interscope CEO Jimmy Iovine to produce the $400 headphones. Dre had this to say about the headphones:
“When I’m making a track I’m trying to capture the sound that makes me go ‘now THAT’s the shit! And I want that reaction from everybody who hears it. I spend a lot of time in the studio listening to my music through headphones…with Beats, people are finally going to hear it the way they should: the way I do.”
The headphones feature a unique futuristic style (pictured above) and newly developed sonic technologies.

Ice Cube Launches Online Television Network

Hip-Hop Mogul Ice Cube and business partner DJ Pooh have launched a new online TV network called UVNTV (U View Network Television). The site promises to incorporate original videos with music and also user-generated. Their goal is to expand the site into a network with numerous stations capable of streaming short videos to full-length movies.
As of right now the site features about a dozen channels, such as Snoop Dogg’s Snoopadelic channel which features his rap videos.
The site is using a new format developed by Microsoft called Silverlight which promises to deliver high quality video capable of playing on a big screen TV.
The site also features a social networking portion for users to interact. Videos can be watched as they come on hourly or they can be viewed later on demand.

Eminem Taken To Hospital; Health In Danger?

We’re told Em was taken to a Detroit-area hospital for a serious heart condition and severe pneumonia. Sources tell TMZ Em’s weight has ballooned to over 200 lbs.

Goapele Working With Kerry “Krucial” Brothers On New Album

The Bay-Area songstress Goapele is working with Alicia Keys’ producer/boyfriend, Kerry “Krucial” Brother, on her new album. Her 3rd album is untitled as of right now and no solid release date has been made available, it is dropping within 2008 however.
For those in San Francisco: Goapele and Mos Def are hosting “Sneakers Required: New Years Eve Ball 2008″ at Terra SF (511 Howard St). More info is available here.
