2008-04-06 10:08:43
If you were to go out today as a novice and buy a complete PC home recording studio, there are many things you will need to research before you buy. And once you’ve chosen a product, research it again. To get you started, however, I have these tips and tricks on how to build your own home recording studio..
A Computer: Home Base For Your Recording Studio
Assuming you will be using a windows platform, you should look at an Intel CPU with dual core and decent speed. The chip set on the motherboard is not necessarily a priority, but I would recommend staying away from Via or SIS as these tend to not perform that well when working with audio.

2008-03-30 10:06:16
When you want a specific tone from your guitar, the wood it’s made of can impact what you choose to play with. This is especially true when you are bound to a specific wood for the body of the guitar but need a sound that particular wood cannot offer. Budget is most often the culprit.
So here is a bit of knowledge on the subject of guitar neck woods that could be of some help to you the next time you are in the market for a lovely new piece.
Spruce
Although Spruce wood isn’t as attractive as, say, Maple or Rosewood, it is light and solid, which makes it perfect for necks on acoustic guitars with flat tops. Spruce necks offer a wide range and great resonance on acoustic guitars.

Metallica’s Set Up: The Metal God’s Gear
2008-03-24 06:34:15
Many of the individual members of Metallica have risen up from impossible circumstances and climbed to a mottled fame despite them, which is what makes them so intriguing.
Their sound, however, is what makes their gear list so intriguing and as the band changes with each year, their gear does as well. That, combined with the band members private collection of instruments that they choose to play from, some of which they don’t speak to the public about, makes keeping tabs on their gear list so impossible.
I have for you, however, a great list of the known items played by the metal gods.

Wood is Good: What Woods are used For Making Guitar Bodies?
2008-03-19 15:36:07
The finished product is usually a very shiny, clean and perfectly shaped machine, whether it plugs in or not.
The truth of the matter is, however, the body of your electric or acoustic guitar was constructed from wood and not all woods are alike. The density and quality of the wood affects the reliability and durability of the guitar. Let’s take a closer look.
PinePine is an inexpensive wood that has a reputation for drying out easily unless it is treated properly. It is used in many cheap guitars that are decent for beginners but not widely used in making pricey guitars for experienced musicians. A guitar made of pine usually has a sharp, stark sound.

A Metallica Biography (Part 1): The Early Years
2008-03-14 14:10:23
It’s amazing that just one word and four syllables can prompt so many ideas, thoughts and opinions. Just muttering the word automatically brings a rush of songs, lyrics and visual stimuli from videos, striking that dark place in a rocker’s heart where he must tread for identity with the pains of life.
Say it with me. Metallica. Just looking at the word has probably already reminded you of a favorite poster, music video or perhaps the snarling face of James Hetfield himself. Metallica is a world renowned band with seemingly endless success, a lust for the crowds and a deep history.
The Band is Formed
1981, after being rejected by Metal Church, Lars Ulrich put an ad in the L.A. Recycler, advertising that he would like to meet other musicians to ‘jam’ with. Hugh Tanner and Hetfield, of then band Leather Charm, answered. Soon after the three met up, Ulrich stole the name Metallica from his friend Quintana, who was trying to come up with a catchy fan magazine name.

Bon Jovi Review: Lost Highway Finds Bon Jovi Back at Top
2008-03-11 15:07:15

They took the top spot on the list, a first for the band since 1988. It has also debuted at the top in Japan and was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2008 Grammy Awards, though it did not win.
In support of the album, Bon Jovi put on a 10 show mini tour known by fans as the Lost Highway Tour, which sold out in many places around the world. But let’s be honest about the songs in Lost Highway. Only a few are getting real attention and even with it’s impeccable selling record, plenty of rock fans won’t touch it. Let’s take a closer look from my rock loving point of view:

Linkin Park: The Ingredients
2008-03-02 09:08:30
Not a whole lot of people in this world would dare to say they don’t appreciate the variety in sound and style that Linkin Park, two time Grammy winners, offers the world.
The band has only been together since 1996, just more than a decade, and they’ve already found their way into the the RIAA, going Diamond with Hybrid Theory.
From metal to rock, rapcore to alternative, Linkin Park also helps bridge the gap that separates fans into subcultures, essentially becoming the glue that seemingly allows the youth in America to identify with other youth from a different calling.
So what is it that has allowed Linkin Park such a prestigious reputation? Answer: Besides talent and hard work, the right gear…
