The curtain is just about ready to be raised on Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III LP. Weezy was in Miami on Monday with legendary photographer Jonathan Manion, shooting artwork for the album, and pretty soon he’ll be going back in front of the camera to film the first video for the effort. The song is called “Showtime.”
“The Carter III is coming in 2008. I don’t want to give no months, no date,” he said. “I got a gang of singles [on Carter III]. [It’s] produced by my homeboy Diesel. He’s also a Young Money affiliate. He’s down with us. He’s a producer/singer/engineer. He does it all. I have my artist featured on the song. Her name is Chanell. We already have a remix featuring Brisco and Lil’ Boosie.”

Monica Welcomes A Baby Boy

Atlanta R&B singer Monica has another new man in her life: a baby boy, born Tuesday afternoon, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The little guy is still awaiting a first name, but his middle name has been chosen – it’s Montez, according to Monica’s cousin and manager Melinda Dancil. The baby weighed in at 5 lbs., 6 oz. and was 19˝ inches long.
Dancil tells the paper that mother and baby are fine – and that Monica, 27 (best known for ’90s hits such as “The Boy Is Mine,” with Brandy) had been recording her new album right up until the birth.

Beanie Sigel In Jail

Beanie Sigel was sentenced to one day in federal prison on Wednesday (January 9) for a violation of his probation.
According to the Associated Press, U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick handed down the sentence and also extended the rapper’s probation by 18 months after Beans took an unauthorized trip to Atlantic City and made contact with a convicted felon. The first six months of the extended probation will be served in a halfway house, which will severely limit his ability to travel or promote his new album, The Solution. Although Beanie has recently made an effort to portray himself as a changed man, Judge Surrick explained that he needed to show that through his actions.
The MC recently shot an anti-violence PSA and joined outspoken comedian Bill Cosby for a peace march in his hometown of Philadelphia. “If they’re looking at you as a role model, you’ve got to do the right thing,” Surrick told Beanie. TMZ has learned Eminem was rushed to the hospital over the holidays.
We’re told Em was taken to a Detroit-area hospital for a serious heart condition and severe pneumonia. Sources tell TMZ Em’s weight has ballooned to over 200 lbs.
Eminem ’s publicist told TMZ: “Over the holidays, Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem, was under doctor’s care at a Detroit-area hospital for complications due to pneumonia. He has since been released and is doing well recovering at home.”
