Rage Against the Machine Coming Back?? Chris Cornell leaves Audioslave!
2007-10-27 08:57:33
Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has announced he will be leaving the group due to “irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences”. There has been no further word on whether the band will continue without him, and if so, who would take over vocal duties. “Earlier this month, Morello told MTV News that, for now, the Rage reunion would be a one-off, adding that his principal focus at the moment is his solo project, the Nightwatchman (see “Nightwatchman, Rage Reunion Have Morello Fired Up For Political Fights”).” In other words: Audioslave = dead. RATM = one shot deal for now, potential to reunite. Morello and Cornell’s solo careers will tank and they’re reform other “supergroups” down the road. ...
“West Wing” Creator Sorkin to Script Flaming Lips Musical
2007-10-26 07:56:47
Wayne Coyne, lead singer of the Flaming Lips, told EW.com that the psych-rock band will team up with acclaimed TV writer and show creator Aaron Sorkin to turn the group’s 2002 album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots into a Broadway musical. I agree that the Soft Bulletin is better than Yoshimi. But we can all agree that choosing Zaireeka for the musical would have been a disaster. Although, they could do something cool with 4 different stages all playing at the same time… ...
“Chocolate Rain” Takes Over YouTube
2007-10-25 07:05:42
Videos of the song “Chocolate Rain” first performed by user TayZonday are covering the entired Featured page of YouTube. The song “Chocolate Rain” has become an Internet meme, especially popular on the imageboard 4chan, which may be responsible for this. Go to http://www.youtube.com while you still can to see it before it’s fixed. I wondered what the hell was going on with that awful, awful song. White snow was a semi interesting vid while it was up there but only because it was making fun of the original (which as I said, sucks) ...

U.K. & Most of Europe to Get Satellite Radio by 2010
2007-10-24 06:03:07
Radio listeners in the UK are to be offered satellite radio services by 2010. Two groups say they plan to launch a pan-European service of up to 250 channels within the next five years. I am from Europe and can tell you why satellite radio is not in Europe. Because they don??t need it and wont pay for it! The radio stations they have are amazing, great music great news and text scrolling to you radio from every station you tune to, with information ranging from song playing to web site info to general warnings etc. In addition to that all the European Union shares radio stations with each other; for example Rai radio from Italy plays in almost every other country and so on. In addition add to that that people don??t pay for satellite or cable there because they have the same system with the TV. At any given point there are about 70 channels ranging from CNN International and Euro MTV, to local stations for free! Also Europe has something called TELETEXT. Each channel has its own TELET ...

Bob Marley’s “Exodus” released on limited edition USB stick, with picture!
2007-10-23 06:03:09
It’s not the first album to be released on a USB stick, but this new limited edition drive packing Bob Marley’s classic “Exodus” is certainly one of the highest-profile releases to date, and apparently the first from a major label catalog artist. This album has already been remastered and re-released a couple of times; this is just another gimmick to try and get fans to buy it one more time. Rita Marley need to dig through the tape vault and release more live stuff, both audio and video. ...

Queen star hands in science PhD
2007-10-22 04:57:39
Guitarist Brian May has handed in his astronomy PhD thesis, 36 years after abandoning it to join the band. Just so you know Brian May is a very underrated guitarist, better than most if not all of the guys who traditionally make the OMFG TOP 10 GUITARISTS OF ALL TIME list which apparently has the pentatonic scale as its only qualifcation. ...
New Nine Inch Nails song found on a usb drive in a bathroom in portugal
2007-10-21 03:59:43
“My Violent Heart.mp3″ was found on a flash drive in a bathroom at the Libson, Portugal show. Reznor is a genius! I have to wonder who it was that found it though…seems kinda odd that they would just trust it in a bathroom if its viral marketing. Everything about parepin and opal and the Angry Sniper….this album better be f**king great. ...

RIAA vs Trent Reznor: Round One
2007-10-20 03:05:00
RIAA is going after websites that hosted his music, that he left for his fans. At this point, theres not much that anyone can do to stop the proliferation of this music. You can shut down a website, but it’s a bit harder to shut down torrent/peer2peer. RIAA, just give up. let it go and enjoy the music. It will feel good. ...
Warner Music announces Last.fm deal
2007-10-19 01:58:55
Warner Music Group and Last.fm, one of the leading Web 2.0 social music sites, have signed a deal to allow Warner ??s entire music catalogue to be played legally on the Last.fm streaming service. I’m addicted to Last.FM…though not for the low-quality streaming radio. For me it’s all about the personal charts, recommendations and seeing what others are listening to. I’ll listen to the Last.FM personal radio at work if I forget to bring my iPod. ...

2007-10-18 01:01:04
He is now 14 and has written 5 symphonies There is a composer studying at New York ??s renowned Juilliard School who some say is the greatest talent to come along in 200 years. He??s written five full-length symphonies, and he??s only 12 years old. 1. Mozart composed at 6. 2. composing lots of symphonies doesn’t make you a prodigy. symphonies follow a fairly rigid set of rules, which can be learnt. 3. why do we call a kid a “prodigy” who can imitate adults? ...
Songs About Killings Live On, Not Just In Raps
2007-10-16 23:58:17
Behold the classic murder ballad. It’s a song form about the most gruesome of events, told in a light, sometimes even pretty way, so that it might take a several listens to recognize the bloody gore oozing underneath an otherwise benign melody. The murder ballad has been around for centuries and continues forward as a part of popular culture. One Dead Cop by Leftover Crack. The chorus is: One dead cop! No more donut shops! More dead cops Might make the hurting stop! Kill cops! (Kill cops̷ Kill cops! (Kill cops̷ Kill cops! (Kill cops̷ Kill cops! (Kill cops̷ ...

WOW: Lily Allen revealed her third nipple live at a national British Television during a contest! Aaand it’s already down. Duggmirror doesn’t have it, Google doesn’t have it, Coral doesn’t have it :(. I sure hope it’s nothing like the tri-boob in Total Recall. ...

Music Licensing Online: YouLicense
2007-10-13 20:59:51
youlicense.pngYouLicense aims to gain traction in the growing market for direct music licensing deals. An online music licensing marketplace, YouLicense enables artists and those seeking musical content to conduct business directly without the need to deal with music companies. not trying to burst any balloons: this will be great for folks who feel they are challenged in getting their music heard or sold, but i will be curious to see if the website will likely take a same or bigger percentage than, say, an entertainment lawyer would take doing the same thing — going and shopping an artist’s recordings for use or placement. ...
12 Year Old Prodigy Compared To Mozart
2007-10-12 20:01:03
He is now 14 and has written 5 symphonies There is a composer studying at New York ??s renowned Juilliard School who some say is the greatest talent to come along in 200 years. He??s written five full-length symphonies, and he??s only 12 years old. I think people are missing the real juice behind this article. Regardless of his age and when the article was written; here’s a kid who at 12 years old has finished 5 SYMPHONIES. Maybe people here aren’t too familiar with the complexity and dexterity required to do such a thing… From a musician, all I can say is “wow”. I could say “you fucking bastard” too, but that’d be the jealousy talking… ...
