The 6 Year-Old Singing Sensation Simon Cowell Will Make a Millionaire
2007-12-22 11:58:12
// The same girl you saw in Digg’s video section, if you’re wondering. //She’s never had a formal singing lesson. Instead, she has had to hone her skills on a ??39.99 karaoke machine. But Connie Talbot, the six-year-old star of ITV1’s Britain’s Got Talent, is already being hailed as the “next Charlotte Church”. She’s wonderful, but I’d still pick the opera-singing cellphone salesman…holy crap, did this guy catch me off guard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k08yxu57NA ...
Huge collection of free classical music MP3’s!
2007-12-21 10:21:16
An excellent reference site to satisfy that itch of yours. Classiccat.net doesn’t host any files directly, but links to multiple sources with the songs you want. From Bach to Wagner, this site has their music, performed by actual ensembles, for free. I know most classical songs (your Beethoven’s and Mozart’s) are public domain now, the actual MUSICS and all, but what about like… recordings of them? For instance, if someone goes out and records himself playing Mozart, is his recording not public domain? or what huh? ...
Watch Out: New Service Coming that Overrides your Ringtone!
2007-12-20 09:17:00
Emotive Communications’ patent-pending flagship product is the “Push Ringer” which reverses the common ringtone model. It enables a caller to push an outgoing ringtone to the receiving phone allowing the caller, not the called person, to set the tone. The startup company just received $7.7 million in funding. if it didn’t cost extra money, this could be awesome, so long as the person picks one tone and sticks with it. for my friends and family who call often, i have set an individual ring-tone for each of them, so i know in advance who is calling before even digging through my purse for the phone. examples: my best friend is an anime dork, so she gets a ring tone that sounds like japan. my father always calls his office “the zoo” so his ringtone is a funky clucking chicken. and so on. ...
Rage Against the Machine reunites (Reuters)
2007-12-19 09:07:51
Reuters - Militant rap-rock group Rage Against the Machine reunited after a seven-year absence during a California music festival over the weekend, offering a sharpened version of their old message: fight the power. Rage is (was?) under the Epic label, and Epic is part of the RIAA. As much as I like their tunes, I can’t help but think of them as Rage For the Machine. ...
Skype Founder: Kazaa, Napster Help Music
2007-12-18 07:04:24
Kazaa, Napster Inc. and other creators of file-sharing applications have been good for the music industry, Niklas Zennstrom, founder of the now-defunct Kazaa and CEO of Skype, said Monday Uuuuuuuuhhh Isn’t the skype founder the guy who put together Kazaa as well? Doesn’t that make his remarks pretty obvious? Bill Gates says Windows is good for computers. ...
Marilyn Manson on the O’Reilly show
2007-12-17 06:31:47
Marilyn Manson appears on Papa Bear’s show on FOX, in what has to be possibly the most surprising, yet surreal video I have ever seen. Link goes to full video interview. His music may sound like angry industrial, but if you actually pay attention to the words, it’s just as intelligent as what he speaks about in any interview. Most of what he sings about is usually wrapped in a political or religious metaphor that most people will simply call him a “devil worshipper” or some other nonsense. ...
RIAA Boycott, Day 1: ‘Music Theft’ Settlements Offered by Record Industry
2007-12-16 06:12:41
The RIAA says it’s going to offer a special deal to certain college students, letting them off easy instead of suing them for hundreds of thousands of dollars for illegally downloading music. The recording industry Gestapo said letters were going out offering “discounted settlements” to 400 students at 13 universities across the United States. “discounted settlements” are illegal. it’s blackmail. Google the RICO act, which, if i ever have to go to court, i will try to use to consider the RIAA involved in organized crime ...
AllofMP3.com Fights Back!
2007-12-15 05:05:03
Mediaservices is convinced that its business model is legitimate and that it maximizes demand for music and spurs consumers to buy more music. The company believes that everyone wins, record labels, artists and distribution companies when the market is broader and deeper. Relying on a handful of artists for the majority of sales is an outdated … What else can one say about AllOfMp3? If the whole industry worked like this, people would spend a lot more on music. It doesn’t seems like a big deal to spend 20 bucks a month on new music when you spend it a dollar at a time and get 5 to 10 tracks for that dollar. I spent almost 1500 bucks on new music last year at AllOfMP3. The year before I became a customer there, I spent about $500 on CDs. It works. ...
Media Defender to Spam P2P Networks With 16,000,000 Tracks from One Artist
2007-12-14 03:59:04
Spam comes in many shapes and forms and today we have news that anti-piracy company Media Defender has hooked up with telecoms company Sprint and Atlantic Records to give away 16 million free tracks on P2P networks. However, don??t get too excited, its 16 million tracks from one artist. Media Defender is releasing all 16 million unreleased 2PAC songs. I have been waiting for this day for some time. -Huddy http://www.myspacetrader.com ...
Hackers crack Apple, Microsoft music codes
2007-12-13 03:02:19
In the past month, separate programs have emerged to strip away the digital rights management (DRM) tools that protect music from unauthorized duplication. One of the programs counteracts Microsoft’s Windows Media DRM, while the other targets Apple’s FairPlay. Anybody who would pay a buck to hear “Stairway to Heaven” ought to have his head examined. http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2006/05/stairways_to_he.html ...

The RIAA Tries to Give a Reacharound to the Legal System
2007-12-12 03:05:25
The RIAA has decided to scale back their whole lawsuit operation, as it’s really costly to pay all those lawyers. Good news, right? Wrong. Rather than take all that time with the legal system, the RIAA is going right for the terrified, non-billionaire jugulars of the “perps” by coercing ISPs to do their dirty work for them. Can someone kindly explain why it is wrong for the RIAA to sue people for violating the copyrights of its members? I see a lot of stupid “fight the man” shit. Which is a complete garbage argument. Does anyone have any real reason that the RIAA is so wrong for seeking legal recourse for people violating the constiutionally based rights of its members? ...
Mission to get old Muse song into UK Top40
2007-12-06 20:49:45
Members of Muselive.com and other fansites are trying to get Citizen Erased, possibly one of Muse’s greatest tracks, into the chart. This is possible by paying for digital singles on sites such as HMVDigital, iTunes and 7Digital.Remember, don’t buy the track until Monday - as this is when single sales start being counted for that week. i dont have a clue what this digging and blogging malarky is …. but yeh i dugg it and everyone should join this campaign :p heres the myspace… http://www.myspace.com/ce4no12007 ...
AllofMP3 on Life Support
2007-12-05 21:19:31
Despite recent reports that AllofMP3 is in danger of being overthrown by the RIAA, the media is now detailing litigation strategy that will allow it to remain operational until at least June, 2007. I hope these little shits are shut down soon. Pond scum selling ripped off music. No money goes to the artist, the don’t even have the artist permission. Little fucktards. ...
BitTorrent: an excellent medium for indie labels
2007-12-04 20:15:41
Over the past year or so, BitTorrent as a medium for independent artists and labels to distribute content has grown immensely. It’s good to see that BitTorrent.com, the ‘official’ BT site is spearheading this movement. This is pretty sweet to see someone talking about this. I personally download more indie stuff that I can’t find, than any of the dross that passes for popular music these days.. I couldn’t even tell you how long it’s been since I downloaded a major label song or album via P2P sites, however I downloaded a bunch of killer ska music from a band noone has ever heard of (Jaya the Cat,) just last weekend! ...
Nutcracker Suite Played on Bicycle Parts (Amazing)
2007-12-03 19:11:54
Listen to Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy played exclusively on bicycle parts. It would be weird riding along the street sounding like a music box. I must say, it sounds amazing, especially since it’s the classic Nutcracker Suite. ...
