Skype Founder: Kazaa, Napster Help Music
2008-01-23 18:08:33
Kazaa, Napster Inc. and other creators of file-sharing applications have been good for the music industry, Niklas Zennstrom, founder of the now-defunct Kazaa and CEO of Skype, said Monday Uuuuuuuuhhh Isn’t the skype founder the guy who put together Kazaa as well? Doesn’t that make his remarks pretty obvious? Bill Gates says Windows is good for computers. ...
No DRM Could Mean Cheaper Music
2008-01-22 16:56:00
Even if Steve Jobs’ essay last week — in which the Apple chief questioned the wisdom of continuing to sell music wrapped in digital rights management — was a negotiating tactic designed to give Apple an advantage during impending license renewal negotiations, as some have suggested, Jobs’ proposal is still spurring lots of discussion. Music is fucking overpriced anyway. Look at the number of fucking millionarries - and they get their money over night. How many people use Windows or Apple or watch the news. How come the people that made these reach such a wide audience but still don’t become millionaires? It’s because there overpricing cunts. Why doesn’t a muscian with the RIAA lead a humble life instead of being a money grabbing fuck? ...
For those who aren’t about to rock, we salute Guitar Hero
2008-01-21 16:01:49
Guitar Hero: is it a deal with devil? One columnist thinks so, claiming that it makes rocking out “too easy.” We’re going to have to go ahead and sort of… disagree. Like the article says, if anything, Guitar Hero has made me actually want to get a real guitar and learn to play it. I haven’t yet because I don’t want to invest in something I might be too lazy to learn, but it’s (guitar playing) certainly a lot more interesting to me now than it was before I played GH. ...
Indie labels combine to form a “virtual fifth major”
2008-01-20 17:36:13
Independent music labels from around the world joined forces this week to create a virtual record label that can compete with the Big Four, and they’ve already signed a deal with SNOCAP to sell music on MySpace. Kinda surprised this hasn’t happened earlier. Hopefully the pooling of resources will give them the ability to compete in terms of advertising and production. Although I am not too pleased with the idea of the intermediary being MySpace. (Bleh.) ...
12 of The Worst Cover Songs
2008-01-19 14:48:09
My favourite worst cover song in the list is “Stairway to Heaven”, by Dolly Parton. I challenge anyone to find a song they would download on itunes and pay actual cash for. All wrong, the worst cover, “American Pie” by the Brady Bunch Kids. moms having sex milf mature mom and boy moms sucking cock milfhunters naked moms slutty milfs big tit milf caught mom masturbating hot lesbian milfs Imagine a off-key chorus of children’s voice’s singing, “…This’ll be the day that I day” - and wishing that that had been the case. http://www.gimarc.com/H-brady.html ...
Interview with John Buckman of Magnatune
2008-01-18 15:28:08
OSNews features an interesting interview with the founder of Magnatune, John Buckman. Magnatune is the first records label with a revolutionary business model that gives away high-quality mp3 versions of their songs for free! Some see this as the only way to battle piracy, RIAA and the major labels. I suggest everyone give the band The West Exit on Magnatune a spin. Good stuff. milf thumbs chubby mom friends hot mom cheating moms milf whore mom teaching teen amateur soccer mom hairy milf fucking hot moms hairy pussy milf I’ve been buying music from magnatune for a couple years. I even have their business cards that I hand out. You have to respect Magnatune’s business plan, 50% directly to artist and a creative commons license. Best record label today. ...

A Tribute to the Keytar
2008-01-15 11:25:27
There is no doubt that the keytar is one of the most ridiculous (yet fantastically awesome) instruments to ever be invented. The poster child of 1980 ??s hair band rock and roll, the keytar had a fame short-lived. This is a tribute to the greatest creation of rock history. I’ve had ‘keytar’ in my eBay watch list for about a month… Unfortunately, what I normally get in my inbox every morning is the one used by the damn Doodlebops. And what is up with the Yamaha SHS-10? I had one of these when I was a teenager; took it to college with me and ended up selling for $50 (which was more than I paid for it brand-new). Now they are selling for more than $200? My favorite was the Casio AZ-1 — one of the very first on the planet with keys that were both touch-sensitive and pressure-sensitive (for those slow, etheral pads you never see coming until it’s snuck up on your and taken over the stage in envelopes of fat fuzz…). After I finish my current p ...
Source Magazine Editor Gets $15M for Unjust Termination
2008-01-14 12:08:36
Though the jury ruled that Kimberly Osorio, 32, was not discriminated against and had not worked in a hostile environment as she claimed, it maintained that the magazine - the so-called bible of hip-hop - was vindictive in its retaliation and fired her unjustly The Source…? Hip-hop Bible…? Um…what? The Source hasn’t been a credible publication since Benzino started going after Eminem and kissing Murder Inc’s ass. No one with any sense in Hip-hop pays attention to this rag anymore. Kim was one of the only one’s whose articles were still fair and since she’s gone I don’t think a picture of 2Pac, Biggie, and Pun all together with SideKicks and Blackberry’s, holding copies of their posthumous compilations, in the Whitehouse with George W Bush, Kennedy, and Lincoln throwing up signs would sell another copy of this crap. ...
Stars compose new ways to use music
2008-01-13 09:26:42
Do you want to write music, or remix a band’s tunes and then find similar stuff? Three top rock stars are eager to help Reznor remains an unrepentant advocate of music files that are free from Digital Rights Management, seeing the USB drives as a convenient promotional vehicle. “The USB drive was simply a mechanism of leaking the music and data we wanted out there,” he explained. “The medium of the CD is outdated and irrelevant. It’s really painfully obvious what people want - DRM-free music they can do what they want with.” Too bad CDs are outdated and irrelevant, or they just might provide that “DRM free music they can do what they want with.” ...
Cam’ron: Snitching Hurts “Code Of Ethics”
2008-01-12 10:03:49
In an interview to air this Sunday on ‘60 Mins’, rap star Cam’ron says there’s no situation ?? including a serial killer living next door ?? that would cause him to help police in any way, because to do so would hurt his music sales and violate his “code of ethics.” This nappy-headed whore rapper is anything but human. Many gangsta rappers have been killed by their enemies. If this anti-humanity jackass is shot in front of his house and is bleeding like an open fire hydrant, I hope his wife and children and neighbors do what he would do for them: let him die. ...
Get paid to use new DRM-free iTunes alternative
2008-01-11 07:22:55
With the RIAA screwing artists AND fans left and right, it’s about time that a more balanced system of file sharing was developed. Grooveshark is that system. It’s a legal P2P network, and will compensate users and musicians for sharing their MP3s… DRM-free. Is this the long awaited solution to the digital music problem? I think that this is something different than limewire or grokster. Nowhere on the website does it say the word “download.” This could mean nothing, but it could also mean that it’s just streaming. But, if it is like limewire, I’ll use that too to screw the RIAA. We need to take them down. ...

2008-01-10 08:02:02
Everything from a touch screen guitar to the obligatory gun-guitar. Weird Al’s “White and Nerdy” to be available on AOL.com Monday, VH1 Wed.
2008-01-09 05:19:12
His hilarious parody of “Ridin’ Dirty”, “White and Nerdy”, will soon have the video released on AOL.com and in “large rotations” on VH1 starting Wednesday. This is listed on the front page of Weirdal.com, down below his promos for his new CD “Straight out of Lynwood” and “The Weird Al Show DVD.” Sometimes Al will have guest star cameos in his vids. (Drew Carey was in the one for “All About the Pentiums”.) Anyone recognize any extras in this video? When he’s talking about his action figures “All of my action figures are cherry” it looks like the guy behind him is Seth Green. (I say “looks like” because with the YouTube resolution it’s hard to tell for sure̷ ...
