Google grows despite a drop in customer satisfaction
2007-08-21 06:09:51
I just ran into some stats that seem to go against the alledged low customer satisfaction rating issued by The University of Michigan's American Customer Satisfaction Index, known as ACSI. In fact, I did a quick run through past customer satisfaction surveys and found that a lot of media, probably me included, have gained exposure at the expense of Google. Click on the more link, I've laid out a few pieces of media coverage from various publications. Well known publications, I might add. ...

SEO underutilized by retailers
2007-08-18 11:17:57
It doesn't take a study to tell us SEO marketers that the top retailers are behind in search optimzation. However, a study (http://www.oneupweb.com/search-marketing-library/OneUpWeb_IR_Study_07.pdf) provides the necessary back up to insist and wonder in awe how online retailers could be missing a tremendous opportunity. Lisa, there's a lot of money on the table. However, much of this has to do with lack of strong SEO expertise and the misplacement of of that particular team within the IT... ...
Google's Top Adwords Placement Changing
2007-08-13 06:19:42
Very important change to Google Adwords and one thing to keep in mind is that Google has for a couple of years started to employ natural algorhithms to determine adwords advertiser relevancy, etc. so my prediction is that they will in a few years blend search results more and morealthough one can argue that its not in their DNA. ...

Yeah, not quite making coffee yet, eh? Google AdWords just offered a new feature under Ad Text Ideas (beta). While it's in beta not everyone will see this feature yet. The premise of this solution is to enable search advertisers gain some insight into writing ad text. Basically all they need to do is describe their product or service in as much detail as possible and then AdWords will provide ad text suggestions. ...

Click fraud up nearly 16% in Q2 2007 which is a 14.1% increase for the same quarter last year (2006). The primary culprits were the engine's pay per click content networks, Adsense and Yahoo!'s publisher network. Specifically, botnet traffic doubled a primary cause of the increase in click fraud rates. France, China and Australia were prime click fraud originators outside of North America. ...

Checking to see if you're in Google's Supplemental Results
2007-07-10 06:08:02
Folks, It's critical that you begin discussions with your SEO company or in-house search team to begin an audit of your website's pages indexed within Google. Why? A good majority of your site may be held up in a secondary search results database where everyday searchers/people can not get to it. Google has what we in the search world call Supplemental results. ...

New Yahoo! PPC Management Features
2007-06-30 10:38:04
For those that aren't aware, the "Create New Ad" area of Yahoo! sm management console has a different look along with content. It appears they are moving to make the system more user/advertiser friendly. The first item I noticed was that they included examples of text we can use or should follow, no doubt due to complaints from advertisers on acclimating to the new ad requirements. ...

2007-06-26 06:11:26
Lots appear to be going on at Yahoo!, Terry Semel is out as CEO, and according to ValleyWag 10 out of the 16 execs are gone. To add more to the confusion trail mix, Search and Display are now under one roof with David Karnstedt. Ok, are you worried? I would be if I were a shareholder. ...

Duplicate Content Potential and How to Avoid it...
2007-06-19 05:37:09
Deliberate duplicate content is a violation of Google and Yahoo!'s editorial guidelines. The engines will filter out content (or at least they try) that appears to be a duplication and voila! your site will no longer appear in natural search results. I've found many sites making innocent mistakes regarding DNS setup that ends up getting caught in the duplicate filter. Now keep in mind that there isn't one type of content duplication filtering. Today I'll cover the innocent violations... ...
