Admittedly there is some debate about that. There are a couple of reasons why I'm taking this side of the issue. First of all it can take weeks before the search engines will send their spiders to crawl your pages. Most people would like to get listed quicker than that. Secondly search engines will likely see your site of lesser value if you submit to them and probably not index it as well. It is understandable to want to get a search engine listing fast but search engine submission is not the way to do it.The way to get a new site listed fast in search engines is to get a small handfull of links from other websites that have a lot of link popularity.
